I’ve been in Sarasota for 40 years. I now officially hate it. Too many people, the total destruction of farmland, and corrupted officials mixed with developers.

I agree completely. Developers have DESTROYED what was a beautiful place to live.

Appears Tom Bennett moved to Manatee County from Miami. He bought land there and sold the park section years back. I guess it became the park and was named after him upon his passing. He started a boat manufacturing company so that's probably the source of his wealth.

Yet another fabulous video made by a real original creator. In addition to outstanding drving and drone video with the usual illuminating and enjoyable narration there is an informative interview. Make no mistake that despite the clever and hilarious humor there are the tons of things you will learn that are well sourced. There are so many reasons to watch from curiosity to possible relocation. What I really really appreciate besides the hard work put in by Chris is that he is not a wannabe.

Sarasota is larger and is considered more upscale than Bradenton. There are several nice beaches in both Sarasota and Manatee counties and unlike most Florida counties, both counties do not charge you to park and use their beaches. Siesta Key beach in Sarasota county is the best beach in either county. Siesta Key beach was rated the best beach in the USA a few years ago. Yes, Hurricane Insurance is very expensive, the southern part of Sarasota county is still recovering from hurricane Ian damage. The damage wasn`t as extensive as Fort Myers Beach ,but lots of damage the farther south you travel.

Thank you for your expertise. Right now homes in Bradenton are trending over Sarasota. The market is just insane. Both Sarasota and Manatee have various perks

I've lived in central Florida for 21+ years now. Florida currently has an inflation rate of 9% while the rest of the country is at 3%. Insurance companies are fleeing, my home insurance cost doubled this year - with no claims in 21 years.

I like your comment on the traffic. When cities route massive state routes directly through their downtown area, that makes it much less appealing to go eat out somewhere in town when you can hear six lanes of fast car traffic. Just honking and being loud

I can't speak for all of Florida's cities as I haven't been everywhere in the state, but off of memory Bradenton seemed to have worse traffic than Sarasota. It just didn't seem to me like there were enough main thoroughfares in Bradenton proper to handle the volume of traffic that the area sees.

@@ChrisHarden Traffic volume in this area is very seasonal. It's more of a nightmare during the winter when the tourists and snowbirds are here. By the time you filmed this video many of the snowbirds had flown back north and the number of tourists had decreased substantially. Great video!

I've lived in Cape Coral 2 years and I wear ear plugs anywhere in Lee or Collier County this mostly is caused from road noise, followed by weed wackers, blowers etc.

I've been living in Bradenton for 5 1/2 years now!

Unfortunately the cost of living in Florida is just dumb, mostly due to housing costs. Tip: Don't move to one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Unfortunately home prices go crazy and infrastructure can't keep up. Just because a place ends up growing fast doesn't actually mean it's one of the bets places to live in the country. I lived in both Sarasota and Bradenton for 30+ years and we moved 2 years ago due to cost of living issues and overcrowding. Sarasota is a wonderful city though. Highly recommend Sarasota over Bradenton. If you can afford it Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island are very nice. And of course Siesta Key and St. Armand's area, but those are very expensive. We were lucky enough to live on Siesta Key for the last 3 years we lived in Sarasota. We miss living on Siesta Key but it's expensive and there are other barrier islands to live on in Florida as well as the Carolinas.

Should do one on Sarasota Florida almost the same population of Bradenton which has an awesome downtown.

I live here for 21 years ❤

You’d better love loads of cars and people if you’re moving to Manatee/Sarasota counties. Nothing but miles of buildings and traffic jams. And the politics suck. Native Floridian 4th Gen and have had enough.

Because of all of the people that have moved there, traffic is a constant nightmare, junkies are - everywhere - consequently crime is 10X what it was just a few years ago. Racial tensions get worse by the year. Summer is 9+ months long, you get maybe 2 months relief from 90+ degree heat and 90%+ humidity. Bugs are E V E R Y W H E R E, roaches so big, your cat runs away, not to mention snakes and lizards, iguanas and alligators. Don't forget the mosquitos and gnats. Most of the people are well into their 70's or older, drive slowly and often cause traffic accidents. The area is VERY conservative, progressives are just not welcome. Rent has tripled in the last 20 years and the housing market is nothing short of insane. Not much to do beside go to the beach, but the roads move at a crawl, and the water is SO polluted, you cant see your feet in waste deep water. Don't forget the hurricanes! And good luck getting or keeping or being able to pay for homeowners insurance. Sure, move to Bradenton. What could go wrong?

Surely is getting DESTROYED!! G. T. BRAY PARK in Bradenton is DESTROYED!!!!! Due to the OVER SATURATION of 💀 R O U N D -- U P. SPRAY!!! And The MANATEE COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S WIIL NOT STOP Spraying this 💀ROUND - UP. POISON 💀 that has DESTROYED this Park And has DESTROYED the G. T. BRAY ( Dog Park ) into "Non Recognition"!!!!! The last FIVE YEARS this Park has been in CONSTANT DEFORESTATION and Right NOW is in "UN - RECOGNIZEABLE" Condition and Not stopped for the Last 5 YEARS Plus!!! This Park is Controlled by CHARLIE BISHOP, whom is now Paid $ 220,000 a Year PLUS a Car and for WHAT??? DESTROYING OUR ONCE BEAUTIFUL PARK. Cutting down over 40 Tree's in the Dog Park alone!! Housing in Bradenton Doubled!! Rent has Doubled as well.Bradenton has the Largest Oak Tree "Spider's" that I have Ever Seen!!! 😣😲😨 Poisonous Pigmy Rattle Snakes as well!! With the "Largest Snakes" being in the "County Commisioner's office"!! XXXL!!

Daytona Beach is even more affordable.

Please kindly don't take my comment the wrong way * but have you guys have checked the ever increasing massive amount of homelessness and the immense need and poverty spreading faster than a hurricane _ or this video could be an attend to removed the bad reputation attached to this community ..? always just showing the attractive areas and hiding the dark side is a clear indication of a red flag .......

Because it doesn’t smell like burnt oranges anymore…

You should mention the fact that the roads in the Bradenton Sarasota area are not equipped to handle the influx of new people and vehicles. What was a 5-minute trip to the grocery store can take 30 at the wrong time of day. As far as the beaches?... forget it. Even if you are willing to spend your Saturday morning sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the Islands and their residents don't want you there. They are eliminating parking for non-residents. Park in the wrong place and your car is towed. If 1 tire is on the pavement you get a big fat ticket. Until the past few years, we were an agricultural area but now all of the agriculture is being paved over for gated communities where the practice of exclusion of others is rampant, promoted and blatant. You will find very few people of color residing in these communities. Overall, the people moving here think this is a beautiful place because there is no snow. They could care less about any of what I have just mentioned because they just want to move the same mess they have up north down here without the snow. If you have children in school, you had better have money for private education because our public schools are a joke. I had a recent graduate of South East High School working for me and he could barely read. He signed his name in second grade stick figures. The governor has enacted a law allowing any military veteran, first responder OR THEIR SPOUSE to teach in our public schools without a college degree or teaching credentials of any kind. They also teach that slavery was beneficial to the enslaved people. Please stop promoting migration of wealthy people here. They have already ruined the quality of life in Manatee County and after 63 years I only venture out into the fray if I absolutely have to.

For being Florida, Bradenton is horrible. People are moving here because they cant afford SWFL and there are actually SOME jobs

People considering a move to Florida might want to rethink the choice given the worsening weather issues, and the subsequent hesitation by insurance companies to continue offering coverage for dwellings that could get destroyed by shoreline erosion, hurricanes, and floods. Regardless of whether or not you think human activities play a role in shifting temperatures and other aspects of climate change, actuaries know what they are talking about when it comes to evaluating the data and assessing risk. Which is why they are advising the insurance companies that employ them to abandon certain markets. Actuaries and insurers are an established portion of the "invisible hand of the market" when it comes to economic trends. They make decisions based on pure financial risk.

I prefer Hallandale beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities, and good night life.🫡
