The numbers don't back up the not maintaining success.. they outsell themselves with every album. They are the only 4th gen group with 3 million selling albums..and that started with sneakers and checkmate, and then Cheshire outsold it and then kill my doubt outsold that. They are the only 4th gen group with 5 albums on the billboard 200 and the only 4th gen group with 4 to chart multiple weeks. Only twice and blackpink have done that otherwise. They are fine and only getting bigger. Sneakers was a smash hit in Korea even if some westerners didn't love it. It was their best charting song since dalla dalla and propelled them to their first million seller.

Even though other groups like IVE, LE SERRAFIM, and NewJeans are the talk of the town in 4th ggs right now, I like to think ITZY paved the way. DALLA DALLA and WANNABE have their place as two of the most iconic 4th gen kpop songs ever. There is no group like ITZY and there will never be another group like ITZY.

I’d say the title is a complete exaggeration; I’m someone who will still continue to like ITZY and just because some of their tracks have not being doing as good as others, I’d say they’re still successful and I personally enjoy their Korean releases that have come out after LOCO.

As a huge Itzy fan, I do think their title tracks have a downward slope kind of trend in terms of quality, but they never disappoint me with B-sides and often have some of my favorite songs of each year. Dalla Dalla is still their peak title track but Cheshire, Loco, and None of My Business were great modern TT's. I think they get way too much hate at times and Sneakers was actually a fun bop that wouldn't have been hated that much if it was released by a different group, probably one that is newer than them and doesn't have a reputation to live up to... I also think the teasers for sneakers set them up for failure because they were strange AF and people were already talking about how weird they were and saying the song was gonna be awful.

I agree with you on at one of the first songs none my business. But as much of a bop you may think sneakers and cake is, it's just too immature for some of their now grown fans. And here lies the weakness of a lot of the kpops, jpops and cpops. The age differences between members. Those songs may have done well for yuna for solos if done right because of her age. While finding more intelletually and technically advance songs so the group and other members can grow. Lia needs something for her strength which are singing, comedy acting, business. Same with chaeryoung and ryuji. Chaeryoung dance advance has been capped and ryuji is obviously meant to be a star. Acting for those three should be explored not giving up music while giving them well deserve rest and payment. Yeji is just meant to be modelling, directing and music managing, scouting and just talent agent while in her carreer. The reason why they are struggling is management needs help. I could go on and on. But they are going through nothing new.

I love my Queens but yes, sneakers was a step back. It's okay to do something cutesy as you want to appeal to a younger demographic, but it was a bad idea. Don't get me wrong, I dance to it. 🤣 Wannabe and Dalla Dalla are the best. They just need to find their rhythm again. I've said it before, they need Black Eyed Pilseung. TattooedMidzyForLife 💕

Nobody hates Itzy. Lia is widely known as one of the best voices in Kpop and us compared next to Rose from Blackpink. Their songs aren't as big because JYP doesn't promote them as much. They are variety Queens mostly. But no one can touch their dances or their visuals.

Itzy also had an almost two year disadvantage with Covid. That amount of time really hurt them. They are the full package but never had the best writers like Black Eyed Pilseung from the beginning. They have what it takes to be as popular as Twice, but theu lost two years. Its hard to come back from that. It pits more pressure on them.

What do you mean by 2 years? Aeapa and stayc debut 2020 during covid, too, and they were doing just fine. Itzy just doesn't have a strong kr title track after loco. Look at their Japanese releases. It's amazing and strong.

That's like comparing New Jeans to Blackpink. One isnt even a real Kpop group and the other are the reigning Queens of Kpop.

@@sowhat1674 I would say they were doing as good as Itzy. COVID hurt them as well as it did multiple groups. It's hard for any performer to lose that much time. Itzy pushed past aespa and Twice with Loco. I do agree that their Japanese material is significantly better. The problem is that JYP doesn't promote them enough on the KR side. Each member is the full package and has to much potential, and it being misdirected into a bunch of shows. Which are all really good and funny, but that's not who Itzy is.

@Jay.swizzle1984 itzy and twice are both facing very same problem. They try to transition to something better and new and then just suddenly relapse back to being cute. Icsm should be the direction that twice was supposed to be heading, but then all of the suddenly scientists and ttt happened. Itzy went from mitm to sneakers to Cheshire to cake. They just established something new and then left it.

CAKE mv was made for ipad kids. They had squid game cookie reference, a huge toy attacking them, colorful balls falling out of van in a bright colorful town, too much kid friendly stuff. The song was very kpop, so not that bad

JYP should get Galactika to make more songs for Itzy. They made both of their 2 biggest hits, Dalla and Wannabe. The newer releases from Itzy just aren't that interesting

That's so interesting because their album sales continued to grow in korea despite all of this. Checkmate, Cheshire, and Kill my doubt all sold 1 million copies each. So if the streams in korea are declining, are international fans the ones carrying them ?

I wouldn't say people hate Itzy, I think its more like disappointed? They had and still have so much potential, but their music just doesn't live up to the hype they had before. Its a shame, they are a phenomenal group.

ITZY is doing great. The album is exactly like ITZY. The performance, the songs everything screams ITZY. And this is where I drop the bomb : Its not ITZY or JYP fault that they're becoming less popular. Its the FANS! They LOST interest because they switched to the trend that's becoming popular. EVERYONE WANTS TO BE ON THE WINNING SIDE! These FANS betrayed ITZY because they saw less views, they thought "why bother" and left ITZY. Its not the groups fault if they're doing what they want to. Its the fans who lost interest. Because a lot people think KPOP GROUPS needs to chase trends and change their sound to whats popular in the charts. If that happens, what makes the group unique?. it's amusing to hear kpop fans complaining about someone's singing skills - when the average singing skill in kpop is like school children in other countries like the US and the Philippines - Lia has a strong gravelly voice - and is well above the kpop average - but teens and twenties in the kpop audience haven't acquired ears for music yet (if ever) - and shouldn't make making judgements that show how little they know it should have been noted that TWICE is also waning - maybe the analysis should be focused on JYP
