    The gs mini is such a phenomenal little guitar. It seems to have this perfect one size fits all design. It does the job for anything and is easy to take with you anywhere. It sounds a lot like a full size guitar, I probably wouldn’t even notice if I was blindfolded

    It really does! I used it as a backup to my D18 on acoustic gigs and it gets the job done when needed. Also bring it to many beginner guitar lessons and all the students really appreciate the size, tone and playability!

    Picked up a Mahogany GS Mini 3 months ago. Hard to put down! Absolutely love the tone. Kept the Elixirs and went from the stock '13's to '12's. Zero loss of tone and easier to bend.

    I bought GS mini and it's a good guitar for picking, it's sound is alright for it's size but a bit tinie and thin. I have a 114ce and no comparison the 114 is better sound even though it's still a introductory taylor made in Mexico. The mini is much better for picking I find and puts out great volume. I also have a 324 ce all mahogany made in the US and that is way more balanced then both and deeper darker in tone but it is quieter that the mini and 114 but a clearer and almost less wild sound that is just balanced amazingly. But yes the mini is a great buy and I will always have it hand for it playability and great volume in its little package

    I played the GS Mini Rosewood for quite awhile and still love this guitar. But recently bought a Martin DJr and had a good set up. Now I play the Martin almost exclusively because the sound is so superior to the GS Mini, at least to my ears. If you're looking for a small-bodied guitar, be sure to check out the Martin Jr series.

    I bought the Taylor AD17 a few months ago as a guitar for sitting in my recliner and dinking around. It's just a little bigger than the mini. I've had a few Taylors over the years and I've found that they come with higher than usual action (strings). I always have to go through and do a complete adjustment, especially the rear saddle. But - these little guys will tear up ones' finger right out of the box.

    @@gshep42 I followed the attached video and set mine up myself. Now it plays really good. I had to lower my rear saddle and my nut. If you take your guitar to a 'Guitar Center' all they seem to know to do is adjust the neck (truss), which isn't near good enough. Anyone can do this! kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6JrrLKdkpitcco.html

    I find the art and lutherie parlor sounds very boxy. It doesn't project like a full size guitar. The GS mini projects and sounds more open like a full size. Sources are me owning a GS mini and my brother and cousin owning a AL parlour. If you want the warmer sound the mahogany warms it a lot. Or the Martin Jr which sounds more like a real guitar than the AL. Nothing against AL it's just the parlour shape sounds way too boxy for me. So same goes for any brands parlour shape

    @@dietersdawgs and I can't believe you haha. I know multiple people with the AL parlour and it's very boxy sounding. They're not bad guitars if that's the sound that you want. They play well. But they don't have the open sound that the GS mini or Martin Jr has. I used to have the GS mini mahogany but I sold it and got the spruce as I felt like having that sparkly high end sound.

  • @dietersdawgs

    @dietersdawgs

    Жыл бұрын

    @@AFryingPan I get that you have biased Gs mini "Love" because you have one, but your responses show it for what it is. In one, you say a mahogany top actually sounds good....no mahogany top sounds good. Look at what the best guitarists in the world play ( accomplished classical guitarists ) ...they are ALL figure eight slightly larger than parlour sized solid top spruce and cedar guitars and they would never even consider playing anything with a mahogany top. If your skill and hearing is as good as theirs, then you're really amongst the elite of the elite! lol!. As for body size, if you claim a GS mini sounds better and less "boxy" than ANY parlour, I question how many parlours you've actually played or heard. Have you heard or played a Larrivee or a Boucher? And what do you mean by "boxy" anyway? That's like saying a violin has better midrange and bass response than a viola or cello, or that a viola has a better low end than a cello or double bass....it's simply not true and wishful thinking on your part. You may prefer the thinner sound of a GS mini, but that doesn't actually make it better sounding as in clarity and full tonal response than a larger bodied parlour. You simply come across as most every other Martin and Taylor owner I've ever come across who just refuses to look at anything other than what they have as in the same league. It doesn't bother me that you like what you have, but to think it's better than other stuff which it isn't, is simply delusional, lol. Google Andrew Acker or Ana Vidovic and see what they play, and see if there's something wrong with their hearing, eh? Lol!
