They are accustomed to low prices because someone spends their life sending food and money there in exchange for nothing. They complain about the price, the price is 50% less than here in Europe.

unfortunately Ethiopians earn pennies for salaries and when fertilizers price rise local produce gets expensive, there is a civil war unfolding in 2 regions which affected the harvest since many farmers couldn't access subsidized fertilizers from the government.

@@holdyourheadhigh2935 My country is part of the European Union and we earn on average 3 to 4 times less than the average salary of a German. And we pay the same for things exactly as Germans do. And is it news or does anyone want to know? NO And if we're telling the truth, we pay more than the Germans for things and I'm not talking about purchasing power through direct purchase of wages. Cars are often 2 times more expensive, whether used or new. They are independent adults who resolve and adjust to the reality they live in.

I refuse to use the word EU money because it does not exist your basically getting tax money from rich western nations. There is no way Eastern Europe could compete with Singapore Dubai Israel Australia New Zealand Canada Taiwan Japan even your infrastructure is paid by the west I’m saying this as Asian. Stop using the word my country is part of the European Union or Europe mention your specific country so we can analyse is East and west Europe is complete different world you have places like Bulgaria and Romania and Ukraine Macedonia Poland who can barely survive.

Over 1 euro for kg of wheat and 1.5 euro for kg of flour is really expensive. Here in Germany a kg of wheat flour costs just under a euro. In a country like Ethiopia this should be much cheaper.

Ethiopia can’t feed itself. They are in a perpetual state of starvation. They need to look in the mirror and make a change

Ethiopia is a vast and huge country, The country needs to have a good leadership. Till the country is in the scope of ethnic conflict and integration of the ethnicity is in stalemate . I know the country very wel as a tourist soo beautiful and diversified nation to see the country right now on verge of collapse is unacceptable and regrettable. @@95keat uk import grain for milling high priced flour for premium bread. Uk is normally a nett exporter. Plus my point about making ethanol to mix with petroleum is something you only do if you are rich and have a surplus…poor people don’t burn food.

The obsession of governments for export rather than internal development does not serve their nation well. Standard economics development ideas are absurdly harmful. They need an internal economy and stability from wars, but the IMF and the West generally ignore that sense.

The worst is not yet .

Simple. Their economy system isnt for 100million population. It is designed to benefit the 1% of hyper-rich ethiopian there. You will be surprised how rich ethiopians have properties oversea while 99% of the rest cant make 1000euros per year

What is Ethiopia doing? Reduce the fertility rate now. The population of Ethiopia will grow from 115 million people in 2020 to an expected 205 million in 2050. If you can't feed the population now how will you feed almost double the population than?
