Great video. I am 79 years young. I have been wearing eye glasses for the past 40 years and hearing aids for the past 3 years. The hearing aids are practically useless in venues with a lot of background noise or locations with high ceilings. So, I would run not walk to buy an effective pair of smart glasses.

Hi Matthew. I found this video unbelievable and now I'm going to tell you why. Just yesterday I was searching for the "captioning " glasses, that basically project the subtitle of what a person is saying onto the front part of the lens (so far only one brand is doing something like this, I believe XanderGlasses) and I thought "wow can you imagine if they could make nice looking glasses, with microphones, that can also show subtitles? I'd buy them now" So my answer is YES. And also, do you think they may be able to implement the subtitle function as well? Thank you

Drawing from personal experience- Safety Glass for work place envirornment - optional magnification ie Readers Also a Sound Canceling feature and shuts off the hearing aid when certain decibels are exceeded. Currently I cannot wear hearing aids at work because of the random decibel fluctuations. Electronic earplugs for shooting enviornments have this feature.

(Not just the invisible ones) My Starkey RICs just broke and I’m really considering ITC to avoid the hair noises that I can’t standdddd. I’m hoping to purchase new ones this week. My audiologist said there’s no difference between the ITE, ITC, RIC, BTE etc. She didn’t mention any features except Bluetooth and rechargability and didn’t mention any brand options. It's just what I've always thought was the ideal solution for headphone technology: placing the microphones up front and having enough space to place the necessary chips without being limited by space. Most of us who suffer from hearing loss due to age also lose vision. The solution is glasses and hearing aids in the same prosthesis. I (73) will wait for its release on the market to start wearing glasses and changing my Resounds, which do nothing for me in noisy environments. That they arrive quickly and that they are not extremely expensive. They don't have to be because they don't need to miniaturize their technology.

I think maybe Mathew does not wear prescription glasses! Just as no two people have the same hearing loss.... No two people have the same vision loss. This is going to create fitting issues. You need to be "fit" for both hearing loss and vision loss. As such this will cut down on the number of frame styles available to choose from when picking out glasses. Also what happens when either your vision changes or your hearing changes? if your vision changes, how easy will it be to get new lens cut and installed into existing frames. What about if it is time to update the aids, but your vision has not changed; will you be forced to replace frames and lens also because you need a new hearing aid prescription? What about if the hearing aid needs to be sent in for repair, not only are you without your hearing aids, but you are also without your glasses. This means extra expense to have back up pairs of glasses. And or, your frames break; maybe you are without replacement glasses for 6 to 10 business days, are you also without your hearing aids? Or does one also still need an extra pair of hearing aids. Hmmm Glasses are cheap these days and have become fashion accessories; some people might have multiple pairs of glasses, yet only need 1 pair of hearing aids! This would cut down on ones ability to be fashion forward with glasses. What this could/should mean is that more amalgamation of hearing and visions locations into one location which IMO will help/assist with making hearing aids more "fashion" friendly. Hearing aid clinics could learn a lot from vision centers on how to improve the look and feel of clinics.

I suspect the answer is no, simply because of the cost. If it's a reasonable price, then yes. Is there really still a stigma with glasses? All the contact users I know don't wear contacts because of stigma, it's purely for comfort. Glasses are awful to wear, they are always getting dirty and wet, hair gets caught in the hinges, "where did I put them this time?", "No, Toddler! Don't bend those!", etc. Among my family and friends there is also no stigma with hearing aids, those are just life now.

HELL YES !!! Putting on & taking off a mask with over the ear hearing aids, glasses, is horrible. Plus, glasses are on my face all the time already. BUT, I know to take my glasses off before I get in the shower or lay my head down to sleep, etc.. I have gotten into the shower once with them. Gone to bed twice. Had to put my little itty bitty horribly expensive hearing aid on strange hotel nightstands, because I was too tired to get up and go get the case. If you truly need hearing aids... the only time I actively think about taking them off, is when I want silence. My glasses are much sturdier. Easier to find and go everywhere with me too. But I cringe to think how much these are going to cost with my expensive prescription for vision - added to the couple of thousand dollar hearing aids cost. They are must be the worlds most expensive set of eyewear!

I think we should switch the focus from the STIGMA of wearing aids (hearing aids, vision aids, back aids) to an ACCEPTANCE of what we have and how technology can help us to compensate for our impairments. We need to change course, Society continues to impose perfection on us, but we are the Society. How long can we focus our efforts on hiding problems instead of facing them and trying to fix them? Why should I worry about hiding a hearing loss instead of worrying about how to live in a better world? I can hide my hearing aids, but if I behave badly (for example I don't collect waste, I pollute and have no interest in our planet) how can I feel good about myself? Hiding is not the key. I hope there will be a better collective mindset in the future. Sorry for being wordy. ':)

I am missing my ossicles in one ear, though my inner ear is fine, so I get by with a medium power RIC aid, it sounds tinny and unnatural though, like listening to an old telephone. Great idea, however many limitations I can think of exist. Frame size and glasses overall weight, not sure how a directional speaker will actually work, Glasses selection that they're available on/in, glasses frames are vary cheap to manufacture, yet the EU mistakenly gave said company a monopoly and this will potentially concentrate the market and I crease prices, needing multiple glasses - one for working on construction, or spare and sunglasses - how do I function if only one glasses has the hearing aid? Yes, very cool and innovative idea. I would wear, however need to answer the miriad of functional challenges I posed.

I am a 75 yo woman with diagnosed hearing loss. Told to get hearing aids five yrs ago. $5000? Too much. Costco hearing aids? Small hearing trumpet? Eh? I do wear glasses and would love to have hearing facilitators embedded in them. But I do remove my glasses frequently, a few times a day. Out in the yard wear a baseball cap and no glasses. Hmmm. I would think about this more. I want more science on the effects of radiation/electromagnetic waves going around my head. I have already rejected the idea of blue tooth tech from my iPhone to my ear devices. Scary. On the scale of standing in front of a microwave oven for an hour while cooking for a group. Electro-magnetic energy has effects. Getting close to the human brain with energy like that must have effects. I want to see some science. Are we still advising people to limit the time the cellphone is on their person? We do have to understand the what is being affected by the new embedded hearing aid. And their are those who will think they could be contacted through their hearing aids. Lots to think about.

Great ideas about time some company wized up no one wants those hearing aids hanging over the ears probably the laziest old solutions in history, the reason for no change in years as the big five enjoyed ripping off the old and hard of hearing for every penny they could get😢

How do you REMOVE the stigma associated with hearing aids if you launch an INVISIBLE solution? You don’t remove it, you just work around it… you may increase adoption, but that is something different.

I'm the wrong person to ask since I would wear a box suspended from my neck if it made me hear well. And, since I don't see any better than I hear I wear glasses all day along with my hearing aids. So, yeah I'm in...

I wonder if bone conduction technology will be used instead of a microphone . but surely this idea of combining glasses with hearing aids is not new . I seem to recall a company in the uk selling these many years ago.

I have long thought about this idea , now it would appear that this may well happen . The video did not however shed any light on the Price Points of this dual function pair of glasses/hearing aid. Given that top end Hearing Aids start at £3000+ and at least £1000 for off the Shelf Glasses ( designer frames , special lenses etc, ) I would think the entry point is at least £4000 or higher ? This would exclude all but the wealthy Pensioners who have nothing better to do with their cash , but perhaps that is their target audience ? anyhow ..... Sorry to be so cynical but looking at the UK High street and the likes of Specsavers , Boots and so in it will just be another widget Sales opportunity rather than a Breakthrough for the benefit for the masses .

Hi Graham, it’s great to have your input. There are no prove points set by EssilorLuxottica yet. We’ll possible know more when they do an official launch. Personally I would be sceptical of them being in Specsavers etc given they’re a luxury brand. Stay tuned for more! Matthew
