  • @Gamevet

    @Gamevet

    @itheuser First I'm 51 and was listening to the music of that era. I think that Clapton is pretty good, but he's way over-rated to me. I believe it was Pete Townsend that met up with Clapton and talked about how they were doomed. This new guy named Jimi Hendrix was doing things with a guitar that he couldn't even imagine doing.

    Clapton is an interesting one. He made a lot of good songs and a lot of terrible ones. On one hand you have his stuff with Cream and on the other you have Riding with the King and his 2010 album. Most guitar players can play like him after a year of practice. Even by measure of his contemporaries there were better players - Page, Hendrix, Beck, Knopfler, Alman and literally any jazz guitarist. I guess Clapton became Clapton because he was pushing the boundaries of electric guitar and was one of the first music superstars and serves as an inspiration to this day for a lot of guitarists. The man doesn't deserve hate.

    Clapton introduced me to the blues. After years of researching, studying, listening... not only to the music but the culture, Clapton is a true bluesman. He took from the originators, made his own, has shared and brought many others into the spotlight. The thing I find most interesting about Clapton is that though he is a killer player, he seems to LOVE playing rhythm and staying in the background from time to time.

    Mark Braxton dude he meant he wanted to see a video on how Gilmour and Knophler kick ass. How do you misinterpret that as saying Clapton is overrated... And Clapton is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, you don’t know what your talking about.

    Hide Away" or "Hideaway" is a blues guitar instrumental that has become "a standard for countless blues and rock musicians performing today". First recorded in 1960 by Freddie King, the song became a hit on the record charts.

    Clapton... possibly rock's greatest guitarist. He's influenced countless many. Been around before and after all the others... he's still relevant and he's in the rock and roll hall of fame three times... there are many intangible ways to rate an artist, but the numbers are a great place to start,and the numbers don't lie.

    I like the way you tackle these videos of these artists. I am not a guitar player, in fact I have no musical ability except to be a listener, and you keep me spellbound throughout. And you want to demonstrate the techniques, which is to be commended. But you also are able to simplify technique, so that someone like me can appreciate their artistry. Looking forward to discovering your journey in the musical world.
