    Thanks for a great day and great video, Paul! As an ex-engineer, designing and installing upgrades (with the help of Patrick @ Shoreline Yamaha) is a fun hobby in and of itself. I'm very happy with my rig... a single vehicle that I can just as readily fish anything from shallow creeks to deeper water offshore.

    Thanks for your help in making the video mate. Everyone needs a passion outside their main job or else they'll go crazy. Even an ex-engineer needs to express themselves- a little like me, a former photographer and video editor! ;) Keep on contact and feel free to join us on any of our offshore expeditions. The reason why I decided to trade in my power boat for a jet ski (FishPro) is as follows: 1. The cost of maintaining, servicing, and fueling a jet ski is significantly more economical. 2. It is convenient to clean, launch, and store in the garage, which also leads to lower insurance costs. 3. A jet ski offers a variety of enjoyable activities, from fishing to towing with children or simply cruising. 4. Perhaps the most compelling reason is that when it's time to clean the boat after a fishing trip, all my crew members seem to conveniently disappear.😅😅😅

    I did almost 3 years fishing/diving off my Yamaha fx cruiser. Storage, towing was a plus. I did plenty of days off Moreton and even did 2-3 night trips sleeping at Lady Musgrave. Line fishing wise I’ve never caught more fish than I did with the ski. I now own a Kevlacat and storage and towing are a pain but I can now take 3 mates to the reef and my back isn’t getting destroyed when the ocean plays up. But the ski was great aside from getting soaked. If I went back it would 100% be a fish pro.

I do a lot of mechanical jigging, and having the seat in-between my legs keep my balance, being in the center of mass at all time is way better than being on a back corner of a boat fighting kingies! Great video again! Thank you for sharing those awesome setups!

  • @Jetcast

    @Jetcast

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi James, we mostly have naturally aspirated skis (FXHO) and we work on around 2 Litres per KM. So you might see a bit more consumption on the SVHO. For me, it's probably more like 2.5km/litre actual, but when trip planning its always good to allow a lot of margin. Most of us also have Shoreline's aux fuel tank, which adds around another 27litres, so we carry up to 95 litres on these trips allowing for some expansion in the tanks. Most of the longer days out east of North Straddie and Moreton Islands are around 60-75 litres depending on how far we go. If you don't take spare fuel, it limits you a bit out there because it's always on your mind!

    To the bow? Not that I’m aware of but there’s nothing stopping you doing it. There’s even a few places to bolt a bracket. But you’d need to make the mount or find someone to do it locally. Trolling motors are great for flat water and when the seas are calm but the added weight of the unit and batteries -not to mention cost- has always made me hesitant. I’ll explain more in a future video when I go through the decisions of my new fishing rig. That’s a few more weeks out though. Thanks for viewing the channel too! Good luck with your own fishing!

    Hi Troy, it’s not that hard mate! You simply step over the Tubby. Just put a leg over and then step on. Or jump on the rear deck if the nose is swung out a bit. I don’t use docks that much as they have a tendency to scratch up the duco! They are made with a bash guard suitable for boats and skis generally sit lower to the water on many and can get scratched on the barnacles.

Check out my recent build and there is a section that shows them in a bit more detail: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqeLpdqvoZPcebw.html They are basically made to order at a local shop here in Brisbane (Australia) called Shoreline Jetskis www.shorelinejetskis.com. The cup. holders have 3 recessed bolt holes so with the appropriate brackets you can securely hold them to the ski. They tale a bit of a flogging due to vibration and saltwater, so the brackets need to be strong. Thanks for watching the video and commenting.

    I generally stand for two reasons- either it’s quite choppy and I’m getting water splashing directly in the face, or it’s rougher still and you need to stand to absorb the bumps of large swells or very short period chop. The latter because we want to get to our fishing spots faster so are going as fast our bodies can withstand! The family jewels seem to be ok, but certainly standing helps. Not so sure if it helps the ‘roids though! ;)

    @@Jetcast seriously? I guess it might make sense if you’re going into the open ocean…down to the Bahamas…🤔 or going from Maine to Newfoundland…I guess in theory you could take the great circle route…Maine to Newfoundland to Greenland to Iceland to Scotland…the longest distance is about 200 miles from Iceland to Scotland…so if you were nuts enough…you could cross the Atlantic in a PWC…🤔 a radar might make sense for something like that…ok…maybe not completely an insane idea to have a small radar, but…🤔🤷‍♂️
