I have this camera while having top flagship smartphone and some decend mirrorless camera at the same time. I'm using that Canon for some challenges and while I'm boring. The green colour reproduction is surprisingly good tho

Re: ".... I don't know why they only put 720p video in it..." Duh. The IXUS 185 is a 5 years old model. And it was a cheap 'point and shoot' camera. They're not intended to be great video makers. The point of a 'point and shoot' is just that. You fire it up. That takes about 2 seconds. You point it. You press the button to take the pic. The autofocus takes a fraction of a second, amd then the photo is taken. Job done. How long does it take for your smartphone to be ready to take a photo, from switched off ? I've just bought a s/h digital camera on eBay for just over £20. It originally cost £300.., 14 years ago. The reason ? The optical zooms on any half reasonable digital camera are far superior than anything a smartphone can offer. Plus, the creative possibilites are far greater. And I've just got bored with the smartphones-with-everything mindset. That includes my iPhone.

I've not used my canon ixus 8015 since 2015 there are photos on the camera that I want to download on to macbook pro but it doesn't seem to work - phoned apple but they did not help even after reinstalling the HD - can you suggest anything or how to get the memory card out of the camera as a video clip --thank you

Just drag and drop the .jpg and .mp4 files from the SD card to your computer.

Cause its not fast and the picture is still good, I mean iphones 8plus-11 models, are cmos too. +To people, such a frivolous technique now resembles film shooting, also Olympus e-pm1, pl3, e-510, lumix gx1, sony 3n, C3, fuji f200, x20, same flex for me

My canon ixus 185, whenever i zoom in to the fullest and click a photo it just comes out full solid white or solid black. theres nothing to be seen. but when i zoom out and click a photo without zoom it comes out nice. Can you help me?

Mine won't power up at all and I've hardly used it! It was working last time I switched it on. But since then now it refuses to turn on! Any ideas why it would just knack up like this while I wasn't using it??

Mine lasted 3 years, surprised its still going tbh, the have gotten sand in the lens, once i lost it for 6 months, battery survived that, dropped it multiple times, gotten water inside it

I have 4 Canon Powershot's IXUS 185, SX170 iS, SX400 iS, , and now the G7X, , , and they all have appalling CA

Using a mini USB cable plugged into a USB port on the macbook

These cameras will be junk in a few years because the original battery will die & replacement batteries will get hard to find. Meanwhile those cameras that take AA alkaline batteries will survive.
