MOST of the time when an engine is constantly popping plugs to the point where the coil is missing, it's because of foreign material from the bearings is making it's way from the crankcase into the cylinder, and smashing the coil in the plug.

10 out of 10. This video was clearly aimed at me. I’m not afraid to admit it. I’m the one who posted on Facebook. I’m the one who made a KZread video about a repinched Revo 3.3 with $1 skateboard bearings. The truck sounds and goes amazing. But ate two brand new traxxas plugs after 2 or 3 tanks. $19 per plug in Australia. And yes there was a guy who said he has been a mechanic for xx number of years LOL and knows all about engines. Too funny. Anyway this video was clear, to the point, everything makes sense, and most importantly highlights the reasons plugs blow when there is no leak condition. Which when you think about it, is not immediately obvious and we have to thank technical experts like Luke for sharing his knowledge with us! Thank you Luke!

And that's the goal of my videos is to keep it as easy to follow and to the point as possible. That's one thing I can't stand about a lot of other people when I make videos or have a title explaining something that goes on about their dog their new car and their wife for 45 minutes they barely touch on the subject then end the video. Little wtf lol always happy to help the nitro guys and If shed some light on the things that are not mentioned or expanded anywhere on KZread same with the myth busting. I agree Bug, its funny how some 3.3 engines I have will do this in 2-3 gallons, and some will run close to 10 gallons and beat to hell and there is little rod stretch and I never have the glow plug issue. I would assume its the quality of the engine components that were used during the production run, and the tolerances etc..quality issues basically.

That's the thing that rods are super soft in these engines and. And they do go oval shaped as well as physically stretch pretty quickly compared to other brands of engines that have much harder aluminum. Old 3.3s will run a really long time if you put good bearings em new ones not so much

That's not rod stretch that's tuiting in your engine way to lean and using Traxxas plugs. Tune richer and run with the os lc3 glow plug. They last forever unless you tune to lean. Rod stretch is when you have got into the 3 gallon area is the limit before it will start split rods they actually suggest changing them before that point fouled plugs are from to much fuel or oil on the plug coil And it will burn off in a few seconds of leaving the igniter on. Burned plugs is from lean tuning they will still glow but won't hold a catalytic reaction anymore and will only run with the igniter on. Popping plugs is from Mechanical issues like rod stretch or a bearing letting go

I burnt 3 glow plugs in almost a gallon on my nitro slash. Just read another comment in another video about a guy stopping his engine by plugging the exhaust with his finger. It solved his glow plug problem of having to replace them. Supposedly, the glow plug burns up while it's starving for fuel if you use the red clamp to shut off the engine. I put the red clamp on my slash. Probably not the best idea now.

@@skatetoexplorevideos2477 running to lean all the time kills plugs. The Traxxas plugs have gone down in quality lately and don't last very long. Switch to a OS LC3 or LC4 Glow plug. And pinching the fuel line does not kill plugs. Control line engine run at 30k rpm and run out of fuel to stop over and over again. No problem. Plugging the exhaust pushes a but of fuel into the engine witch will sit and go corrosive and rust the inside of your engine. When you're done for the day just let it run out of fuel driving slowly or at idil then attempt to start until it won't start. Then that's it. Been doing it the same way for the last 24 years with quality fuel and Glow plugs without issue. So for you go with the os lc3 or lc4 glow plug and run a tad richer as you may be to lean. On the high speed needle. Also warn out connecting rod and bearings will eat plugs to if the engine has a lot of time on it.
