Why Do Record Signings Fail Most Of The Time In Football?
Spending money on a player you want is common practice for football clubs around the world. Now, depending on how badly you want that player and how highly the selling club values him, the amount you pay could go sky high or drop ocean low.
But while it’s not alien to see big clubs spending big money to bring in big players, experience has shown us that it’s not a guarantee for success. Certain players who have been splurged on have come and shown their worth, but it seems like the more common theme is that they fail.
So, that leads us to the big question of the day; why do record signings fail most of the time?

Joao Felix was also weighed down by that huge transfer fee as well. At the time when he had one brilliant season with Benfica, that made Atletico Madrid pay 126 million for him which made him at the time the 4th most expensive player of all time and that put a lot of pressure and expectations on his shoulders. When we look at the context of his career, Joao Felix's move to Atletico Madrid was a little premature in terms of the timing of this big money move, but for him he joined a club where he wasn't able to play his game. In a team that plays a defensive side of the game which requires of all their forwards to put in a yard of work off the ball, that was never his style of play which caused him to fall out of favor with Diego Simeone and was in and out of the side as not only did he see the inconsistencies in his game, he just didn't fit into his system.

Neymar is a flop he isn't as used to be by his money
Nunes already started scoring in prea Season and I got a positive feeling he is going to score alot this season
Eden Hazard was one of the best players in the world and when he was at Chelsea everyone knew he was a baller and was simply a genius. Many people aren't shocked that he was an absolute disaster at Real Madrid and while his failure there was correlated to injuries, from day one especially when he turned up to preseason overweight, it was evident that as a Real Madrid player, he was never set up for any long term success and longevity at the football club. Even at his best with Chelsea and in his early days with Lille, footballing fans have known this for 18 months and that is Eden Hazard was never a great trainer and interviews from former teammates that played with him at Chelsea mentioned the fact that he was a world class player but an awful trainer. They observed that he relied more on his generational talent instead of working hard and putting in the effort in training and while it did work out at Chelsea since he dropped in 8 9/10 performances every weekend by scoring assisting dribbling etc and being impactful eventually this was always gonna catch up with Eden Hazard once he got to Real Madrid as yes we know that his time in the premier league, he dealt with so much contact and his body couldn't keep up with it anymore, but at the end of the day based off of interviews from ex teammates, he lacked professionalism and took a different approach when it came to training which caused his fall from grace and he's responsible for why he flopped big time at Real Madrid.
Whenever i think of expensive flops i don't know why but teams like man utd ,chelsea etc pop up in my head because they have the most

Some of Paul Pogba's problems at Manchester United, yes pressure does play a factor and also the timing of his move to Manchester United. In his career, it was not only a premature transfer, but joined a club that was unable to get the most out of him and it caused him to be inconsistent and not play at his full capabilities and more importantly he was in a Manchester United team in a different era, wasn't helped by the mess and circus surrounding the club on and off the field, hence why he struggled there.

It's simple, the price tag equates to expecting immediate results.
2:48 bro roasted Benfica
Why do most big name signings fail? Manner factors plays in like joining at the wrong time, not at the level required for a club, playing out of position, not fitting the system and collapsed under pressure.
The fact that he didn't even show or mention Maguire once totally baffles me

Because he never mentioned about players who are shit in the first place.
I don’t think Darwin Nunez can count as a flop it’s been one season and sometimes it takes players longer to settle in.
3:00 is Darwin nunez
1:05 can someone tell me pls which song is that one?
The problem isnt that the players are flops its just that they have a lot of pressure to outperform and show their value which overshadows how they're helping the club.
In football, transfer fees and money doesn't correlate to how successful your career will be even when you make a big money move and injuries, tactics, a lot of other factors have contributed into why expensive transfers have failed 75% of the time in the game.
People on their way to call nunez a flop after not being top tier in liverpool's worst performance since 2016 for only 1 season bro. People though cristiano was a flop in his first season at man utd yet he became a man utd legend(until the whole 2022 drama) and a real madrid legend, if not the best real madrid player in history. You have to give them time to develop and get used to different systems. Just because some people like mbappe, haaland, Messi, Ronaldo, etc adapt fast, doesn't mean you should bash those who don't.
In most cases players who flop weren't good enough for the big team they went to play for.
Clubs also make signings that make no sense and overpay for them. Barcelona is a prime example of this. For Philippe Coutinho, moving to Barcelona another player who prematurely left his club that he was successful to join a team that was never gonna properly get the best out of him was a bad move, but the reality is when he was at Liverpool, he was able to express himself since the system was built around him, he was their roaming playmaker someone who was scoring goals, making assists, nice plays and since Lionel Messi was still strutting his stuff at Barcelona, he became another player. The system Barcelona played, Philippe Coutinho was never set up for any success as a Barcelona player as he was on the left side, where he lacked confidence and just couldn't get going there. Antoine Griezmann as well, his time at Barcelona was absolutely unnecessary and his signing has to be one of the biggest mistakes we've seen from a football club in the history of the game. When he was at Atletico Madrid, he was a CF someone who was the talisman of the team, scoring goals, the attack was built around him and he thrived even in a defensive minded team with Diego Simeone as boss and the free role he had allowed him to put up impressive goalscoring numbers and also really good performances on the field, and for the France national team he was excellent as a CAM on their road to the World Cup in 2018, and when he moved to Barcelona, different managers were unable to bring out the best in him. He's a CF and a number 10, and he was often being used on the left side since Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were still at the club, this caused Antoine Griezmann to struggle to impact games, he wasn't scoring goals anymore and was thrown off his game after this Barcelona move as they signed a player who was never a good fit from day one.
This aged well, Darwin coming on nicely

Well, I always knew Darwin had potential, but I'm glad others are finally starting to see it too!
why do they spend that much money
Well nunez isn't a flop
People whos says nunez is a flop are people who watches football from social media without any ball knowledge.
