The fact is English teams still have bigger global appeal than Spanish teams with a global TV audience that is 10 times bigger than Real and Barcelona. As soon as English teams could match the salaries of Real Madrid and Barcelona with their big TV contracts the attraction of Real Madrid declined for Premier League because the Premier League being the most watched sports league in the world means you get more commercial deals. I feel like most players have their loyalties set from the bat. For example.. Mbappe wouldn’t join Barca simply cause he was a Real Madrid fan as a kid, plus out of respect from the way he did us and how close he came to signing with us.
