Great conversation points for balanced discussion in the video. Unfortunately the people that post negative comments are typically low information individuals or they are the common denominator in “why they can’t win in life”. They are the type of people that always throw blame for failure on others.

I don't like people who go to Estate sales and searching for gold mines and literally going thru their belongings watching for dollar signs. All that will come back to them. That * is evil. Going through used perfume bottles and make up, etc. That was someone's mom. And all for a dollar. That's not being a survivor but an unscrupulous person.

My "favorite" is the old standard, "You're stealing from poor people." Dude, I'm poor and trying to be less poor! If a thrift store was only for poor people, they'd be checking your pay stubs at the door.

I don't care how they feel about my job. It's good, honest, hard work, and my customers love me. My feedback is my 1st reward. I am a true recycler in every way.

These same people shop at big box stores and love it. We rescue items from the landfill and get hate.

GoodWill is the biggest reseller out there!

It's straight up jealousy! They hate because they ain't! 👍😉

People secretly love resellers too, though. They just don't know it. Example: Person wants something, but can't find it for reason X or reason Y. They go online and see it being sold by someone else who found it locally for price A, and is now reselling it online for price A + profit. The person wanting to buy said product has no idea what the person selling the product bought it for. All they care about is the price it's being sold for, and if that price is fair, it's a sale. The buyer is guaranteed happy and appreciative of this reseller, as they would not have found this product that they were looking for otherwise. F*ck the haters. I go outside in sweatpants all the time. This world's tough enough as it is to truly care what others think about you. Just do your best to be a positive addition to this world. Crazy to think that I've been subbed to y'all for like 6 years now. Thanks for all the knowledge and entertainment over the years. Much love guys! :)

Honestly if people went into a Goodwill and saw the ridiculous pricing, they would know that Goodwill is not selling to needy people.

Oh 100%. In fact all thrift stores are not selling to the needy. Not sure where that came from. Thrift stores are to raise money for the operator of said thrift store. If they were only for the needy they would ask for proof of income of proof of assistance when entering the establishment. They don't. Because they don't care.

People hate resellers because they don’t actually understand what we do. They have an idea in their minds that we do things that we don’t even do. It’s not just online I’ve had altercations with angry people in person including one guy who put his hands on me because he was pissed off about nonsense that he heard about resellers.

My wife has been doing Ebay for the last 6 years as a hobby/side hustle. Over the last 4 months she has upped her consistency in listing and sourcing. She has had consistent and good sales. Some great profit, some not great. I love supporting her dream and helping her. Thank you for doing this car chronicles. I like the honesty you provide.

I don't think people realize the overwhelming amount of secondhand inventory there is. I've been in the back rooms of all of the thrifts I shop in. They are drinking from a firehose. They are all completely swamped in donations. It's insane. If people want to make a difference, volunteer and help them sort the donations and get them on the sales floor.

I absolutely love Ebay sellers. I've gotten so many things from Ebay. I've never questioned to where the seller got his stuff. If the item looks good and priced correctly Im buying it. Who cares where they got it?

Haters are just going to hate. I could careless..We recycle keeping substantable products from landfills... Goodwill has jacked their prices where the needy can't afford there price ..There is plenty for everyone.

I believe I provide a service to my customers. I just sold a pair of older/vintage suede women's boots. The feed back I got from the buyer was that she had the same boots, they wore out, and she was so happy to have found them on ebay....Not everyone has the time/patience to go to thrift stores/yard sales. It is a nice to get feedback from a happy customer.

You (and your wife) are one of my top five resellers to watch. Your humble, transparent, thoughtful approach is so different and engaging. My perspective is that who you are in your videos is exactly who you are in life. Authentic. Top-tier integrity. That’s not the norm for reselling videos, in my experience. I was thinking about how much language changes. For example, homeless was the term used for so long, and has recently shifted to unhoused. I haven’t researched the switch in language, but think it has something to do with anywhere can be a home. Home can be a tent. Home can be a mansion. Home is about people and love. So, rather than people being homeless, they are now considered unhoused. I’m thinking that being unhoused = being without a consistent, standard, physical structure. Thank you for another great video.

Personally, I have no issues with reselling, but it is disappointing that what used to be a fun treasure hunt (thrifting) has now become picking through what's left after all the resellers get to everything first.

I'm sure everyone thinks it would be an easy way to make a living...not appreciating that it is a lot of hard work and knowledge. Keep it up! I shopped at these places for clothes when I was a kid because we had to...I associated it with shame. Now I can shop pretty much wherever I want, and do it for fun 😊

Resellers have been around for decades. I don't believe that is the issue. I believe it's because thrift stores are starting to put their better items online or simply just upcharge because of inflation. Resellers are the ones probably keeping these stores open throughout the years, in my opinion.

If you're buying at Goodwill or Salvation Army, now many of the stores withhold the more expensive items and send them to an e-commerce center to sell in their websites for much more than you'll ever find in stores. I used to have fun hunting for jewelry jars but in my area ALL Goodwills send any donated jewelry off to the e-commerce location, and sell their own cheap jewelry instead (I don't know the brand but it's akin to paparazzi). They do this with name brand shoes, clothes, purses, etc.

You know how I feel but I’ll tell you again.I have mad respect for both of you and feel you do so much good for so many.Whatnot is amazing.You can get things to resell or get a rare find .You never know.Keep on being the amazing Rally Roots!

I’ve been reselling for 18 years. Even though the mission of goodwill and thrift stores is providing employment, it is also a place for less fortunate people to score a nice name brand item. I grew up with little money and would go with my mom to church sales, Salvation Army stores and would find nice used clothes to wear to school that we could otherwise not afford. Most families can’t hit a store as much as a full time reseller or someone who is making it a point to hit a store 4 days a week. One good reseller can wipe out all the nice items in a store in a hour. Put a couple resellers in a store and all you have left is the stuff that goes to the bins. I know because I have done it. I see both sides. I have a good job and resell on the side. I actually give away a lot of nice picked clothes to families in our area that don’t have much money. I still buy name brand items off of eBay that I know someone is flipping. Doesn’t matter to me what the person before me paid. If I’m paying 50 bucks for a Patagonia vest I’m happy. What it comes down to is criticism comes with anything you do. Good or bad. More people win than loose in reselling. Buyers , buyers buying from the buyers, stores and businesses that associate with reselling. If it wasn’t good for the majority it wouldn’t be thriving like it is.

It drives me crazy when people B* and moan about taking items away from the less fortunate when I've literally been in the store listening to employees smash pieces in the back to better fit in the dumpster. Even if selling to the "less fortunate" was the store's goal (it's not), those people won't buy everything. Resellers are giving life to things that will otherwise end up in land fills.

It's all about respect, and self awareness, and learning to read the room. When I go to a yard sale and can clearly tell that the person running the sale is literally trying to save up enough money to be able to live, it makes it impossible for me to want to negotiate with them. In fact, I'll often pay up more, especially if the prices are already dirt cheap, which they sometimes are. It's not a charity thing or feeling pity for them, it's about being a decent human being and not try to get every sale to be a fight for the price you want. And there are more than a few resellers out there who do not give a shit about about the people they're buying from. When I go to sales, I'm looking to build a quick connection with the seller, because it helps me probe for more information about the stuff I buy, but also shows that I have interest in what it is they're selling. Often times, I find myself in situations where I may not even buy something from the sale, but because I show interest in one thing, they ask about what I'm looking for, and then that can lead to them bringing out stuff that's not in the sale, or taking down your contact info because they have a family member or friend who has those things for sale. It's about networking, opportunities, but not at the expense of other people. Reselling has blown up in popularity over the years, and a downside to that is there are far more inexperienced people, or folks who see those short format tik tok content and are just too focused on being greedy that they forget about the people who they are buying from. It's easier to be greedy, but your reputation potential will only reach so high before hitting a ceiling, and it gives honest resellers a bad name. Building a real reputation involves getting to know who you are doing business with, and having a genuine interest in in the things they talk to you about. So many people are self absorbed, stuck in their own little world, and hyper focused on the outcome of things that they lack comprehension of the decisions that led to the successes of those content creators. There's room for both profit and decency.

I completely agree with the gouging and scalping, especially with toys! As a parent I have found it so sickening; especially around the holidays. We have actually tried to beat other resellers to the punch - get the items - and then "resell" them at cost, just to try and help families as much as possible; and to try and give reselling a better name. I find it funny too how so many people hate resellers; yet every retail store, corner store/gas station (these especially), grocery store, etc...are reselling...lol Good information and points!

I personally agree with everything you said. I think the key word here is personally. I look at this as I am a reseller therefore everything and anything associated with it is business and not personal. I think if someone does not like you because you're a reseller oh well you can't control what other people feel or do . As for me I tried to be a little bit different in ways like when I'm in a thrift store for instance some of them have door greeters and I'll buy them a pop or a drink they sell drinks in there now just little things like that to differentiate me from your common reseller. I think as resellers if we can try to practice being kind and go the extra mile and being polite and professional each and every time we're in these thrift stores you will see a lot of that negativity go away over time.. 👍🤝👊😁

Reselling is similar to big business. Buy low and sell high (or higher) but most people don't see it that way. The reason people are judgmental, or angry or negative toward resellers is based in many factors. We can only guess what that is. In some ways, it's natural to be jealous, envious, angry about people who "share" their success online.

I believe a lot of that comes from envy, and preconceived ideas. Envy because you're not working 40- 60 hr. a week just to keep money in the pockets of the rich. At least not in the traditional way. You are outside of the box.

I think the biggest problem people have with resellers is seeing one side of things on KZread ie - finding valuable items for dirt cheap and profiting on them, without understanding the full reality of reselling. They are the same people that will say resellers take all the good stuff from the thrift stores, but only go once a month. people only get mad about the cost of something they desire if they find out someone is making a huge profit off it. It's the same mentality people have for ticket resellers. No one gets mad at them when they are losing money and get a good deal from them though.

Lots of great points! One other thing I've noticed is that there are some resellers who seem to have a permanent "Black Friday"/Cabbage-Patch-Kid-Craze energy whenever they're in stores. And by that I mean rude, pushy, and a very weird competitive, vulture-like vibe while in in thrift stores and estate sales. Very weird and off-putting. So I can see how if you are just someone who likes to thrift for fun or out of financial necessity that some of these resellers reflect poorly on the community even though the majority aren't like this.

I think as long as a person doesn't treat their resell business like an MLM, I don't have an issue. Those that resell bulk to novices knowing their profit is going to be slim to none, or upcharge for "coaching and experience" subscriptions in the hundreds that is specifically for preying on those new to the game are horrible. Bins and for profit thrift store (goodwill, savers) flipping is great and furthers the life cycle!

Great points! Thank you! For my business model I personally do not by a product in a store and price gauge it online. I have personally experienced this. I tried to buy a doll for my daughter that was on sale for Christmas at Walmart a few years ago. I hesitated and came back the next day to buy it and they were all gone. Turns out it was a popular doll and ended up price gauged online. I've also had friends experience the same. I believe this is wrong and will not participate in it.

Good video. I think Tik Tok is painting the wrong picture of resellers. Reselling is a business. We are professionals. We go through unwanted items and find value. Just like you said, lack of understanding of what the business is. Because all business resells.

The OPPORTUNITY to own something not available anymore!!! My favorite thing is when your family and friends look at you when you tell them that you’re a full-time reseller, and they say “oh, but that’s not a real job”. Oh really well if it’s not a real job then tell me how I’m working way more hours than you are!! so sick of hearing this! And also going and actually finding the merchandise and spending the time to get it and driving my vehicle and all of the above is considered a full-time job…it’s very hard reselling it’s not always rainbows and butterflies

Ryan,I have a family member who in the past worked for Goodwill. He has told me that they raised prices because they saw what resellers were getting for their items. Also Goodwill ldo does more than emotion people, they also provide job training for low income people. Plus people need to remember they no longer a not for profit. Love you guys!

They still qualify as a non profit. That is why we are able to know that all their CEO's are making huge salaries. "Non profits" financial information is open to the public. Plus in a lot of states you don't have to pay tax as a shopper at a non profit thrift store.

I think that is funny. They have LOADS of stuff going to the bins and rag houses, but raises prices to move inventory slower? Man, I wish I could run a for profit thrift store. I would price everything to MOVE. I would have the most popular thrift store in town. I would call it " Old School" because I would price everything to SELL SELL SELL and I would move more inventory than any goodwill ever thought about moving and make more money than them too. What some of these goodwill operators don't understand is a thrift store is about VOLUME, and a reseller is about price point. Not the same. I would have a thrift store that literally catered to resellers! invite them in, give them more discounts etc. etc. just to move that sh!t OUT and make a couple bucks per item. That is the way to do it.

I agree, 100% Ryan, but people out there aren’t as honest and generous as you. I’m currently in a wheelchair fighting to walk every day of my life yet still fine a little time to help others. if it puts a smile on their face it put one on mine it doesn’t take that much.

I'd rather be a reseller than be a slave to corporate America. It gives the opportunity to be your own boss. I did it for a while to pay my bills when I was in college. Strongly considering picking it back up Also if goodwill cared about the less fortunate, they wouldn't mark up prices on popular brands lol. They want to make money, they don't care who buys it

All I know is reselling saved my azz, it got me out of debt and got me into a house, none of these things would have happened working a second job for someone else. In terms of thrift shops raising prices, which pretty much means the Goodwill. I think ppl forget that a nonprofit business is still a business and Goodwill is a business and they are good at what they do. How else can they keep opening mega stores while the Salvation Army is closing stores. It was only a matter of time before Goodwill adjusted and up prices anyway. I mean can we really get mad at a business doing what it needs to do to increase earners?

People are jelous of other people making money The issue I have with good will and salvation army is they get all there merch for free and there labor cost is very low so follow the money If you google the salary of the CEO of goodwill and salvation army only 2-3 cents earned by thrm really goes to the chairty everything else goes to admin costs so when you donate to them you are supporting a for profit business run like a charity Maybe resellers should put a donation box in front of there house to get the same value and make lunch for a few homeless people with the reselling proceeds just thought i put that out there

You make a lot of good points. I would add to that people that are pushy jerks. I've seen people get grabby and rude, run in front of people and the like and then hear behind me - oh, that's a reseller. Be polite. Give legit offers. Don't be grabby and pushy and brag right in earshot of the seller after. you purchase something. Also, if someone is getting a legit deal, don't bust in and tell the seller the items is worth a bundle. Not unless the buyer is outright intentionally scamming the seller (Like the 1k tee shirt example)..

I worked as a sales rep for this multi million food purveyor and we had this one client who made a living out of opening and bankrupting businesses in the 70's and 80s ..well this company got burnt by him 2 times so after that if he wanted our products he was now a cash only customer they would never extend him credit.

Im a reseller, fairly new business. I have done 9 years in prison and have a rap sheet as long as your arm. I gave up caring what people think about me. This kind of gig is basically my last hope for self sustainment if I am to stay away from doing things illegal. People get what they deserve in this life (for the most part). I have noticed that many in the resell space are really grimey, sell things for way to much. That works its self out tho through God and the Universe. Im not afraid to flip something for huge profits and if somebody wants to know what i paid for it, I either lie to them or tell them to mind their business. Never be afraid to make a buck and check people who ask inappropriate questions. I enjoy watching you guys but I think you spread the spirit of helping others. I value people like you guys.

Goodwill also provides services to the local community. Because of a program to assist people with Traumatic Brain Injuries. Goodwill paid for a medication for me that cost over $500 a month for two months. Because of a Goodwill program that helps Veterans my friend and her family were provided a motel room until they were able to get their own place. The Goodwill here used to pay part of a Senior Citizens salary to assist them in being employed. My Goodwill also has a program that helps the unemployed apply for jobs and write a resume. Goodwills local employees only make the minimum wage. That is one area I think Goodwill could improve on.

I have experience negative from a Thrift Store from being a reseller from a local location. I have always been open about being a eBayer & when I was checking out the manager told me she would love to charge higher prices for people who resell. I told her she can put everything back on the shelf & I left. I haven't been back in 8 months.

This happened to me once. I said " How much do you think the average person spends in here a year? " She was like....well....probly a couple hundred dollars" I revealed to her that so far that year I spent 3K in her store that went to her stores charity so technically i gave more to Goodwill than her average customer by FAR. In fact. I was helping the organizations tremendously! After that she always gave me that shitty look when I came in the door.

Many thrift stores are making money for a charitable organization - church rummage sales support various missions for their church. There are a large number of such thrift stores in the Tidewater area of Virginia that support programs at a Childrens Hospital in Norfolk.

And when I shop at sales for nonprofits and I’m getting a good deal I make an extra contribution to the charity. So say I spend 150$, I hand them 200$ and I say Thank you and head out, the cashiers know that means they keep the extra$$$ paid. Where I live, the region is considered Economically Disadvantaged by the federal govt, most people aren’t living comfortably. I know the charities work very hard to raise $$$$ to help others.

I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. I have told people that I resell. I get that response also, that I should leave the clothes for the needy. I have tried to educate people actually how much clothing is thrown away. No success there. So I just do my own thing. Go out of town to thrift. All is good. Car videos are good. Thanks.

I literally do not care what people think. I rarely get called out on reselling. Mostly because I don't have to look up many things so it's not obvious (going on 11 years experience) . If someone tries to play with me and say "if you are re-selling that its double" for example. I just smile and say oh! I didn't know it wasn't for sale. and put it back down. If garage sales are trying to over price their items, I simply don't buy anything and when you go by 2 days alter and their garage sale still looks full, they are also realizing that same thing. The venue MATTERS! You will sell significantly less in a garage sale if you try to put up ebay prices.

If you want to take it a step further all of the thrift stores have gotten very expensive lately, small and large stores . I haven’t been to even a local thrift store that has things priced for people that don’t have much money to spend. I’m finding that shirts for women are six bucks and up , even the smaller community thrift stores. One store we go to is very pricey but if someone has a voucher because they don’t have money they let them shop for free certain items. But they too have their prices so high that if you’re on a budget you could probably buy clothes cheaper at Walmart. So all the thrift stores are getting pricey , it really doesn’t matter if they’re chain or not none of them care about selling to low income people anymore they all want top dollar. When you’re seeing things priced higher than what it cost last year at dollar tree you know there’s an issue. I think if somebody is selling something at a thrift store, yard sale , ir estate sale , and you pay the price and then you make a profit on it there shouldn’t be an issue. I’m not gonna apologize for it .

Prices get too high people just wont buy. I've seen that. I used to go to this salvation army and they had this lamp that was an official Winnie the pooh lamp and they had $60 on it!! I commented (You will not sell that lamp) when I first started coming in. Lady was smug and didn't care. For five years I would comment on the lamp EVERY time I came in. " when you are ready to come down to reality on that lamp let me know" and in 5 years she never changed the price. That SA went out of business and NEVER sold it. In fact, I found out later that they started getting less people come in because of the pricing and that is why they went out of business.

People always hate on each other cause there angry about there own life or also some people just had bad experiances in there life so there just straight angry. Just got to do ur thing and not pay attention to what others say just keep griding. I been selling on ebay since 1999 so its been a long ass time.

I resell to recycle and give away things to those that need them. I go to auctions or buy cars mainly where they just want the stuff/thing gone. There is always excess and before I scrap it/trash it I always try to give it to someone who will use it. Thats why I resell.

I wouldn’t worry, my consensus is those people yes are misinformed by what they think and are lazy/negative to do the same so they complain. Therefore they should just admit they’re jealous 🤷🏼‍♂️

Have seen plenty of resellers at the GW bins.

I don't think the people that like you say as much as the haters. If you are in a public si te where people can comment, they just do it for some reason. I haven't been watching you guys lately, but you always had good content, I just have slowed down in my selling. I think people are frustrated and get jealous of you selling so much. Just be yourselves, some will like you, and some will not.

Remember Savers and Goodwill don’t HAVE to increase prices. They are CHOOSING to make a profit. They are BILLION dollar businesses profiting off of people free donations. They could charge $4.99 for a hoodie, but they know they can sell it for $18.99.

Resellers are taking from the landfills and recycling.

Finally someone who admits showing everyone how to resell has hurt the business tremendously

The number of resellers has exploded especially since covid. The shopping experience for the casual shopper at a yard sale or thrift store is often diminished because many resellers are aggressive or rude.

I agree but then you see a reseller ripping off an 80 year old at a house yard sale for hundreds of dollars. That's stealing

@@pinkpigletparker8703 It is LITERALLY not stealing. Old man has a garage sale. He wants $5 for an item, I pay him $5 for the item. Full stop, show me the theft!? Because that is where THAT transaction stops. The next transaction has NOTHING to do with the originator of that item.

That is not even the definition of theft. Plus....you use a pretty extreme example to make your point when that much of a discrepancy is rare. It's more like, I buy something for $5 and sell it for $30 or $40. 99.9% of the time that will be it. You can think it's stealing all you want, but according to the definition of theft.....you are wrong.

Several points here from a person who has been reselling on eBay since 1998: 1. Capitalism is a free market, who is complaining about that other than Karen the hater 😂? 2. One of the most successful podcasters of all time ahem Joe Rogan doesn’t read any comments for this exact reason regarding negativity. 3. Later on in life I realized; who gives a crap about what anyone thinks about your personal life, as long as in the end you are being a upstanding citizen/good person and trying to do something good for people/humanity daily and making your own way daily?

Hi, please don’t waste your time with those people! Envy! 😠 Even Goodwill is taking the best stuff and selling them online! You are the only reseller Ryan that I have offered something to buy from me that I found at a yard sale and you bought it from me for a lot of money, the only one and I have never forgotten. First of all, I love the Ralli Roots resell team! Food for thought, I think Goodwill has certainly caught on to what resellers are doing, and that is why they are marking up their product. In turn, the higher the prices, the less people will shop at the Goodwill stores, which will hurt the business in the end. I do believe that Goodwill's prices have catered to the lower income sector for a long time. If their goal was just to sell product to pay employees, why didn't they sell the goods at a higher price from the very start? So, I don't fully believe they are in business just for employment reasons. There has to be some accountability that resellers are the reason why Goodwill prices are increasing. I just hope that Goodwill doesn't lose sight of their mission because it will hurt the community. I feel that it is smart to flip product for higher, but how long will this continue to happen before this phases out? Again, my thoughts only. Don't throw swords and daggers😂

All good thoughts :) thanks for adding to the convo. I think for other thrift stores that can be true, but for most regional goodwills they follow the same mission they have from the start. Make money to create jobs. In fact, if you watch the interview I did with one of goodwills VPs you’ll hear him say the management and higher ups are paid bonuses based on revenue generated. I like goodwill, they do some good things for people but overall they operate to complete their mission. Which is stated clear as day in their marketing.

Tatz hVe a baD rep. But some get entitled to form judgments on others , wen that is not wat life is about. Its to short to b negative. Happiness is doin wat u love, and being positive. The more money u make the more people wil b envious and jealous. There is continually evil. Vs good. As long as the lord sees wat we do is righteous. The universe tends to take care if itself. We appreciate the fact that the content is educational and u teach how to fish as some wil put it. U show wat everyone can do. The ones who hated probaly dnt hve those opportunities in ther 😮 countries.

Resellers are like your own personal shoppers. No way on earth I would purchase anything at retail price, I rather give profit to Resellers than to those billion dollar companies. Money is better distributed this way than giving to mega corp billionaires. Resellers do a great service to society. Less in landfills, they make a profit and we save some money..

People hate on you guys specifically because you make it look so easy. The general public work normal jobs making $200 or so a day so that $200 in 15 mins at a thrift store can hurt some egos. You guys are great, keep the content flowing 🫡

I know where you are comming from,i have a full time job and flip stuff on the side,people come to my house to buy stuff,my neighbors dont like it,i have been celled a drug dealer because people who come in and out and buy stuff,its sad people are are nosey and have no lives.
