Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Live in Brunei 🇧🇳 for 4 years as a Singapore 🇸🇬 Military permanent staff personnel from 1994 to 1998. Christmas is not illegal, it is a public holiday but the celebration is not celebrated publically like in Singapore 🇸🇬. It is a great country. Try Jerudong Park and go to Kuala Belait, you guys will love it. I was mostly station at Temburong not Bandar Seri Begawan.

I can feel that people here are so happy to be Bruneian. I also met a Malasian who is a PR of Brunei, lives and works here, she told me how happy she is here. I love what you said Nate. The call to prayer made you feel so special not because it was a call to prayer but because it highlighted the differences and the fact that you get to experience a different way of life. Most people who are Christian might consider that a negative thing, you guys embrace diversity and other cultures and represent Christianity in a way that makes me proud to be a Christian! I love when you meet fans out in the wild, lol. That hotel was stunning, I'd be spending all my time in the swimming pools. I hope Kara feels better soon, I can imagine that being on the move so much and in so many extreme living situations can wear you down sometimes. The floating village is so fascinating, it's incredible that all of that is there out in the water like that. I loved your comments during the Call to Prayer, as I've grown up in the US surrounded by churches and am used to the loud church bells, but the call to prayer sounds otherworldly to me. I think I would be startled hearing it for the first few times, just hearing a voice in the sky like that, but sound soothing and meditative after the shock wears off. Thank you for sharing!

I moved to Brunei 🇧🇳 from the UK 🇬🇧 7 years ago. I would say the Government is one of the best things about Brunei, His Majesty The Sultan Of Brunei really seems to care about his people and I have met and spoken to him and his family several times. In 30 years in the UK i never even got close to my leaders and I don’t feel they care about the UK or it’s people at all. Imagine if we judged Americans for the decisions of their government, it would be a billion times worse. Brunei never killed or invaded anyone. The religion is very important in Brunei and I think it’s good they value traditional beliefs and the way of living. It’s a peaceful country, people are generally very friendly and there is very little crime or conflict. People are happy here. I find it insulting when western countries act superior and say negative things about how the people of Brunei choose to live. It’s not your country, if you don’t like it, don’t go. Personally I can’t think of a nicer better place to live. Do visit Brunei, they need the tourists and you will get wonderful memories and experiences here.

Hi Kara and Nate, do come to Brunei again. You should visit Temburong, its a district where its mainly nature. Have a hike and go for a kayak ride, go to the longhouse and go to the tall tower and oversee the broccoli looking forest. Theres a small rock climbing activity as well. Its a nice experience. Visit serasa beach overlooking the sunset, its really nice. Also, you haven't been to the end part of the empire hotel where you can sit down and enjoy the ocean breeze. Also, visit one mall, let it be The Mall, Times Square or etc, just to get an experience of how different shopping malls are in other countries. Only on SUNDAYS, the city centre (town) of Bandar Seri Begawan, the roads are closed for people to run/jog/walk around town. Its Bandarku Ceria, its a platform for the government to encourage the people to be active and stay healthy. Theres a small animals exhibition, theres food and drinks stalls, theres vintage goods' stalls and its a great experience honestly. Also, go to one of the fancy restaurants (Kaizen) or any nearby restaurants in front of the Town's waterfront. And enjoy the scenery. P.S FRIDAYS at 11am-2/3pm, ALL shops in Brunei are closed for the Friday'prayer. I would suggest you to have some takeaways before the time and enjoy the nearly emptiness of the streets/roads lol.

So I’m a huge dork and every time I see y’all meeting fans I get emotional for those people…I would totally cry happy tears if I ever met y’all because I have followed you forever and it would be like meeting old friends. So if you ever happen to see me out, excuse me being a teary loser! Promise I’m normal and cool! 🤣 Feel better Kara! ❤ You did great on the tour for us Nate…what a beautiful hotel!

Kara feel better! Nate you did great, love love love “meeting” the people you meet on your journeys; by far my favorite part of this vlog is not food or transportation or stuff but interactions with local people in their home countries. AND!! even Cracker Barrel doesn’t have pancakes that big! ❤️❤️ from Knoxville TN
