Why Do Cats Always Land on Their Feet?

Cats have a unique skeletal structure. They have no collarbone and a very flexible backbone with 30 vertebrae. This flexible spine helps them correct themselves quickly during a fall.
Inside the cat's ear there is a system called vestibular apparatus. Which is used for balance and orientation and the same system tells the cat which way is up.
So, as soon as we release the cat from a height, the vestibular apparatus comes into action and it quickly rotates the head and then rest of the body follows.
