*Larry Burkett's book on "Giving and Tithing" drew me closer to God and helped my spirituality. 2020 was a year I literally lived it. I cashed in my life savings and gave it all away. My total giving amounted to 40,000 dollars. Everyone thought I was delusional. Today, 1 receive 85,000 dollars every two months. I have a property in Calabasas, CA, and travel a lot. God has promoted me more than once and opened doors for me to live beyond my dreams. God kept to his promises to and for me*

What’s significant is the show tells a story about the times of Jesus & his disciples, & helps us relate the contexts to our own life & walk with Jesus. What’s going on with the actors past or present is superfluous of why we watch the show. Leave actor’s personal reasons for leaving out of it, & let’s enjoy this unique portrayal of the gospels in a meaningful way. This isn’t TMZ

I loved the way he portrayed Phillip and didn't care for the explanation we got as to why he left. He was my favorite discipline because he had a gentle helpful nature and reached out to help Matthew with such sweetness He also reached out to others in the show and saved his friend, Nathaniel at a very dark time. He has shown the most maturity of all the disciples and I'm sure it came from his time with John the Baptist.

I liked Yoshi, but Reza has been put in an impossible situation that is being made worse by certain fans piling onto him. It seems to me that the writers and showrunners have chosen to script Reza as the "new guy", which is definitely out of place for a character who was a long time-disciple of John the Baptist. That's not Reza's fault, though. Additionally, if he had tried to act exactly like Yoshi, certain vocal fans would be saying "Who does this guy think he is?" and treat him as an impostor, but if he had tried to act differently and make the part his own, many of the same fans would berate him for coopting and changing the role. It's lose-lose for the guy.

If we are watching The Chosen for the spritual truths that God has chosen to reveal thru the show, then won't those truths will shine through all the cast, even new members? God's Truth can withstand cast changes just as it shines despite historical inaccuracies. If we truly believe that everything works to the good for those who love Him (God), can we be open minded that there are good things in store for Yoshi and for the show with Reza? I wish all involved well. Thank you, Yoshi, for sharing your talents with us in your portrayal of Philip, esp. his unjudging kindness to Matthew. May your next chapter be blessed & guided by the Lord. Good luck, Reza. I’ll miss Yoshi! I do think he had charisma +, lol. I admit, my faves are the disciples on The Chosen that are very demonstrative like Peter, Andrew & Matthew, especially (but also Yoshi’s Phillip). Oh well, I will give the new actor more time & wish Yoshi the best!

Yoshi certainly has a unique and noticeable personality that he brought to the character of Philip. I loved him in the role from his opening lines and how he delivered them, was sad to see him go. He enthusiastically played Philip and was a joy to watch, there's no replicating him. However, even with big shoes to fill, I believe Reza will grow into those shoes and do Philip justice. Dallas is a fantastic director and will round out the role for Reza.

Yoshi is Philip and I got hooked on his role when he got Nathaniel and said "Come and See" and, after all, the rest of The Chosen has chiseled this expression in stone at the beginning of each episode, so that settles it then. This new guy, maybe after 10-12 episodes ... but we'll see then perhaps we'll be ready to come and see but it won't be easy ...

I haven't had any issues with the new Philip but he also hasn't stood out at all for me. From the first moments we saw Yoshi's Philip he stole everybody's attention. From his sense of humor to him instantly standing up for Matthew and helping him when others picked on him. Granted, a lot of this was the writing but Yoshi's performance and personality had a lot to making that work. I wish Reza the best and hope he does as good of a job.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important thing. To keep mourning his departure is idolatry. This is the risk of spreading the Gospel without completely focusing on Jesus Christ.

Maybe that's why God might have let it happen... God saw it before how it would turn out. Yoshi had a chance, he played it too well, almost in par with Jonathan, which might be an idolatry kind of distraction.

@@anamata461 Well, yes... as it should be... but people tend to idolize nowadays, maybe that's why God wanted his people to realise that maybe? by this actor to leaving the show. I am just trying to come in terms with God, wanting us to focus Bible through the lens the Chosen shows us.

Yoshi made Philip unique from the beginning and became a favorite to me. He just made you happy. Reza could have carried that over but didn't. Yoshi made Philip a favorite of mine, and unless Reza can add the same personality, the character will be lost. Each actor brings something to the character they play so some stand out and some do not. We will see if this new actor brings character or fades into the background.

Reza is no Yoshi. Yoshi's Philip had PERSONALITY and then some. He always had this mischievous twinkle in his eye, and he seemed like someone that you wanted as your friend. Reza's performance of Philip was flat and void of any personality trait that stood out. Reza really plays Philip as "one of those other disciples". You can give him all the time in the world, his portrayal of Philip will not improve. He is a professional actor; you either nail the performance right away, or you never do. And for all the people who think that The Chosen can do no wrong, please spare me your criticisms of my criticism. Thank you.

I feel that there was differences between Dallas and Yoshi about the role of Phillip, just my personal opinion. There was such a drastic change in the actions of the beginning Phillip and the Phillip right before Yoshi left. Maybe he didn’t agree with the way things were going? Anyway, I thought he was absolutely fabulous as Phillip. The “new” Phillip no way has the “personality “ of Yoshi, but I think he definitely will portray Phillip differently, two different actors!

I loved Yoshi, but I'm happy to give someone else a chance in the roll. Unfortunately, I have not seen Reeza bring anything to the roll and he seems like an incorrect choice for the character. It's like I'm watching two completely different characters. I totally agree with the assessment that his performance feels very much like someone who's just doing a job, rather than bringing personality and craft to their his portrayal. He feels like a glorified extra. And Philip is really vital in this story so it just feels extremely awkward and wrong to have basically downgraded his importance. I'm wondering if they were in a bind and didn't have time to thoroughly audition or something. The blame for the roll of Philip changing so much is not all Reeza's fault, it's the writers and the studio too. And for everyone so sensitive about people not liking his portrayal, calm down. You love The Chosen, we love The Chosen. No one's attacking Reeza as a human being.

I thoroughly enjoyed yoshi philip. He came in early in the season as an experienced disciple when peter and andrew were just learning the ropes and making bad decisions. It was breath of fresh air. Plus, he made philip very welcoming, and yes Yoshi can play a very good Jesus character. To me the new philip is a towering intimidating person. A very big contrast

It's okay to judge and compare the actors' performances because The Chosen is first and foremost a TV show. Yoshi brought Philip to life. So far Reza has not. His performance is not just toned down in comparison to Yoshi's; it's expressionless and bland. Unless Reza changes his acting style, which is unlikely, it is what it is. Not sure what was seen during the audition but It's giving last minute hasty hire.

We are sold and love your series. Step back a bit...a lil bit. It can be smothering sometimes Dalles and i pray that same over-saturation is not happening with the cast & crew.
