@@willsoe No FTK in mind but basically if a monster has an effect like "if this is summoned, do X" that effect will reset when it's summoned back so maybe good for some decks like Infernity or something

@@willsoe Infernity have soft once per turn effects(inf archfiend and inf necromancer) this new link 4 is essentially soul charge but only for Infernity decks

Can also negate cards with effects that demand they be summoned from the extra deck. Like Avramax’s ability to not be targeted, only applies if it came out of the extra deck.

Same counts for Masquerade the Blazing Dragon. He only burns for 600 when he is summoned properly as a Fusion Monster. When he gets banished and then special summoned back he does not count as fusion summoned anymore lol

I wish Link Monsters used the mechanic of Link Arrows &/or Co-Linking more. Most of the best Link Monsters just don't care about their arrows. Borrelsword, Accesscode, Apollousa, Linkuriboh, Halq, etc just don't care about their Link Arrows. Even the ones which do use their arrows are like Knightmares or Skulldread, in that they occassionally come up but it's not what we care about.

halq arrows used to be somewhat relevant in e.g. guardragon combos but yea, feels like the only deck that really uses the feature nowadays are code talkers or some other cyberse decks

I agree, when I learned the link mechanic I thought co-linking was the whole point, making a grid of monsters that share effects through linking, but it is almost never used.

For the summoning conditions, it's like Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon from the Vrains anime, where it could be summoned with 1+ Link monsters, except that was a Link-5.

Important that this specifically say "special summon" back the banished monsters so it's just straight up removal for monsters that must be summoned by their own effect (or must be fusion summoned etc) or that weren't summoned correctly from the extra deck

OOOOOOOOOR... You can Kaiju an opponent's monster, then use Zillantis effect to return that monster to YOUR FIELD, so you go +1 and opponent goes -1. And then you can Kaiju them again.

Shurig, Accesscode, Apollussa, Borrelsword, the Marincess Link-4, Saryuja, Underworld Goddess, Yuki-Onna, and the Tenyi one- Sahasarala or whatever. A lot of decks are easily going to be able to fit this in. It’s like a link version of Zeus.

5:16 the deck that benefits the most from this is Infernity, they have soft OPT, archfiend and necromancer, u use their effects get the plus then use wodz to banish everything, resummon everything and u get their effects again, wodz is essentially soul charge but only for infernity

I find it crazy that even after over a decade, Infernity is still a deck seriously talked about in the "might be broken soon" category. Like holy shit, for an archetype solely dedicated to depriving yourself of your hand, it's so strong that it has managed to always stay at least at rogue level through this entire power creep and is a deck you should never underestimate Goes to show how good NOPT and graveyard effects are

I will say: I REALLY dislike the summoning materials section. Kinda to… Easy…? I feel like there are too many ways to get to strong Link-4 monsters that can run out of usefulness (like the mentioned Apollousa) and of course monster stealing effects are STUPIDLY strong. But as for the actual effects? They’re actually pretty cool in my opinion. It can definitely be a really broken (will need a lot of balancing with other cards in terms of bans/limits), and I LOVE that the third effect actually uses the fact that you’re using a Link monster or Link Monsters

its not really a monster stealing effect since the owner's monsters go to the owner's field. its main strength is turning off effects that only apply when summoned in specific ways like avramax or appolousa (appolousa loses her atk and avramax loses his protection effect)

@@furymonger5395 Actually, they only lock your link materials into beast, beast-warrior and winged-beast, you can still link summon into anything else (that why they can make Apollousa in their combo). So you could just need 1 Kerass to make Shuraig (which is a link 4 Winged-beast) then use Shuraig to make the new link 4 monster. You only get summoning restriction if you use search effect of Bearbrumm so save that for last.

This will be op in decks with a lot of floating effects, as you can just trigger them for free.

The on-summon effect recycling potential of this card is beyond ridiculous. It's also a huge anti-XYZ sweeper, circumvents destruction immunity and targeting protection, and has outstanding link arrows for co-linking shenanigans - I get the feeling that this will be one of those cards that just won't be fun to play against...

So its basically an extender for accescode?. Summon accescode, pop backrow, summon this guy, rearrange the board, then go to BP and pop their monster. You lose a ton of damage from this combo but it potentially pop more cards than accescode. Or you can use this on tribrigade since you always summon shuraig anyway.

Just curious if you would be willing to make a discussion video about increasing the extra deck limit to 20 cards instead of 15. I'm a fan of an extra deck toolbox to deal with problems but obs this would lead to a whole other world of combos as well. Just interested in peoples thoughts.

The Extra Deck is already (with few exceptions) more important than the actual deck. You'd need to ban a LOT of cards to make the 20 cards limit not completely broken.

A backup option is always nice for the "just in case" situation.

While the 1+ effect monster is unique (and interesting), link summoning a monster with one material is pretty commonplace in Salamangreat. That being said tho love the vid

Salamangreat doesn't simply use 1 link monster and nothing else as the summoning requirement of the monster. It's through the effect of the field spell which is once per turn. This is the only link-2 or higher that can be made with only 1 monster.

@@ShadowHazy if i am not mistaken, this card can't use itself as material since it has: "there's can only be one of this cards name on field". So even if you would use itself as material your couldn't summon another copy. Same thing happens if you try using mirrorjade to go into another copy of mirrorjade, you are not able to.

I honestly can see saruyja being used again just for this

The biggest part that comes up to me in the effect text is that it banishes and THEN special summons, so does it trigger banish floating effects? How does it interact with alternate remove from field location effects (e.g. return to deck if leaves the field)? Does the re special summon trigger on summon effects?

SInce it banishes the monsters, and then special summons them, any monster that has a "If this card is special summoned" will probably meet its activation. THAT right there, is what I'm more curious about doing with it.

1- no banishing floats wont trigger because they are not in their trigger location when the chain resolves 2- alternate remove effects takes precedent over most effect so if e.g. a destrudo is banished using this eff it will return to deck normally 3- yes special summons trigger

After the April 1st 2020 revisions (not confirmed to be in effect in TCG until much later) cards must be in their proper trigger locations to trigger. So say there's a Thunder Dragonroar on the field and you use this, it will banish then summon the roar, so it will not trigger. We have precedents saying "banish when it leaves the field" or other similar effects will go to the specified place in their own effect. For example, Floowandereeze monsters are banished Face-up by Evenly Matched, and a Sky Striker spell reset by Multirole will be banished if it is attempted to be shuffled away by Knightmare Unicorn.

@@masterminer2338 That's not precisely correct. Cards must be in the location where their trigger was met for the connected effect to activate. There is no concept of a "proper" trigger location for any effect. (this is relevant becausr there are effects which can trigger in multiple zones. Take effect X, which can trigger in hand or GY. Let's say it meets its trigger in the hand during CL2, but gets discarded to the GY in CL1. The GY is a "proper" location for its trigger to be met, but its effect will not activate because it was triggered in the hand and it is now somewhere else (the GY)) (edit: prucisely is not a word!)

@@delta3244you're wrong, i think you got confused. Example: Darkest Diabolos' text says: "If a DARK monster you control is Tributed (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your GY (if it was there when you Tributed) or hand (even if not)." In this card's scenario, if it changed location between hand and GY while the chain resolves, since it can be Summoned from both locations, it WILL STILL RESOLVE PROPERLY.

This would be great for dark world. Especially with the new support. Really useful if your saryuja gets negated

On top of your uses listed, there's also that nomi monsters won't be coming back from that reset field effect.

Konami some days after this card comes out on the TCG (if it comes): "So, we, uhm, are doing an emergency ban list including all these cards because they make Zillantis broken." Also, R.I.P. Kazuki-sensei.

I love how you kinda stopped reviewing OCG cards, but this cards seem so busted that you have to cover it

I feel like this card exists in this weird spot where it can "rescue" negated link 4 plays but is designed for breaking boards. So it is pretty much meant to be paired with link 4s that break boards, which is exclusively Accesscode and potentially Borrelsword. If there are more cards printed like this, then this card gets better. I just do not know if the extra deck slot is better used on something else in the decks it could be played in.

very cool, don't think we've had a flicker effect in yugioh so I'd like to see it open up those possibilities

seeing that board shuffling effect made me think... since the cards are all banished and the resummoned again that would trigger all when banished and leaving field effects and such as well as any on special summon effects of the players choice so with the right deck this could be quite massive

Wouldn't this card activate the on summon effect of any main deck monster after it does the banishing effect? That sounds very broken, any deck that benefits from removing cards and special summoning monsters from the banish pile would have a very good tool in their hands.

it should work but do note that many monster have once per turn effects so it's possible that your enemy might get the bulk of the effect, xyz monsters will lose their materials and monsters that cannot be special summoned will get removed instead so you should be careful as many decks have boss monsters with special summoning restrictions so they won't be able to come back either though you can re summon enemy monsters face down except link monsters

Almost everything worth summoning is HOPT and by the time you make zilantis your opponent either stopped your combo 3 steps earlier or has nothing and would lose anyway. This thing does seem a bit funky in a knightmare link deck since it can puzzle together the extra link

Watch this thing totally warp the metagame of the OCG and the OCG community being completely fine with that and even increasing their hype level instead of dropping the game en masse like TCG competitive tends to do in response to centralization of metas, thus demonstrating yet again why each community needs a different banlist.

It looks like this card is mostly going to be played as a better book of eclipse. It is a then effect so there can be a scenario where it can only banish the cards if you are locked into special summoning.

This and the Byssted/Branded Despia support is wild. Excited for it but wondering how relevant that deck will be by then.

Borreload Savage Dragon isn't the greatest example for something this card can deal with since Zillantis won't get through the negate anyway. Sure, you could still remove the ability to do it again next turn and slightly decrease its attack if you bait out the negate, but your opponent has pretty much gotten their value from Savage by that point already. The scariest part of this card to me is the ability to easily reset soft OPTs on (mostly) older cards or trigger banish effects on your own cards. Seems like a great follow-up to a Saryuja play. Regardless, it'll definitely see play.

Is gonna help colum and monster zones effects also could help Flip monsters

I was thinking about playing this in Marincess deck. The deck can easily summon a link 4 wiht 1 card but the deck is restricted around water monsters. I think this could open new possibilities to disruptions.

Also if an effect summons something with this effect negates, you can use this to get the effect live. That might come up. Also note it's wording of summoning things to the *owner's* field, meaning if you gave your opponent a Kaiju, you get that Kaiju to your field, and I'd you were hit with Crackdown, you get that monster back.

Those materials are just the natural end point of links, just as Quassar and Blazard are for synchros

Yugioh doesn't have a lot of flicker effects, im curious if that 2nd ability could be used for value (any effects on special summon)

This just feels like a book of moon for there entire field after accesscode is interrupted and maybe a few pops if you're playing a link deck

This retriggers effects of monsters that go off when they're special summoned generically. It removes tokens from the board. It gets rid of monsters that were improperly special summoned/cheated out. Turns off some lingering effects on monsters that could make them hard to remove (IP Masq)

It can also be used to un-negate monsters that had their effects negated (either by your opponent or your own cards).

@@GarethXL a lot of monsters ss from gy or deck but negate the effects, then yiu banish qnd respecial and voila, you have basically ss from deck without restrictions

You didn’t mentioned Shuraig as an example. Tri brigade players usually use one shuraig for combo. Like summon it, then make a link 2 with one other monster and use shuraig grave effect to search. Now they can save one ressource which is relevant in that deck. And if you are going for otk, you can Banish 1 card with shuraig, link it off, search Kerass, spec, effect for 3, then link it of to accesscode. Not exactly 8k, but you can blow the board and extend more if you dont already have enough extenders for the OTK.

Im just imaging the ftks that the banish and return efect will cause..

Also it can be used to put a Kaiju you just summoned over your opponent's monster on your side of the board

Access Code has a new friend. :/ I see it as a nifty card to include if you have room for it. It'll see some niche play, but nowhere overbearing (unless FTK shenanigans ensues with its SS effect.)

Saryuja into zillantis gonna be the new zoodiac. (Lets hope the “new zoodiac” curse works and I don’t have to spend 25€ for another tryhard card.

What's scary to me is, focusing on the access code example, this card is basically another free extender for those decks that already have one card combos.

Very surprised that Salamangreat was never brought up when saying what this card is similar to

Being able to blink all your soft OPTs and book all your opponent's problem monsters is a lot of value. Coming from MtG I know how disgusting blink effects can be, and I think they're still pretty rare in Yu-Gi-Oh, so this card should be interesting.

If this was a regular link 4. It would be a really good and unique simliar to underworld goddess but since it’s basically link 1, it’s broken ED staple.

Zilantis would work really well with ultimate conductor tyranno special summon everything facedown then use Ultimate conductor tyranno to attack everything dealing a whole lot of damage

I still have the theory that konami it's giving us teasers of a water deck based of banish stuff, we already had cards like fish swap and fish Rain, and lately with ghoti, i feel like an archetype like that could be interesting

I think is good there are cards that make your opponent think twice about negating effects. The more cards that have cool effects besides the boring negation, the better.

That card with banishing Necroface and then special summoning it so it doesn't shuffle everything back in is kind of crazy.

It's good counter to xyz deck because when they get banish they will lose their material.you can also say it banishing effect is the improve version of galaxy eyes dragons effect.

I wonder if this card could fit into and change how Code Talker decks play. Being able to reset and arrange their link arrows in the main monster zones might allow for them to change up their combo line and set up U-Links they wouldn't have been able to normally.

code talkers can't play it because they always get locked into cyberse monsters

This would make a nice backup in my Marincess deck.

Very unique effect to move every monsters around, flip down everyone, to faceup attack or defense mode. Recycles depleted link 4s. co-link destruction if there's another link ally monster floating around.

seeing a water link 4 i hoped this would be something for marincess as battle ocean only cares about summoning in the extra monster zone not what you summon there. i guess it still book of eclipse's the board on an unaffected monster but i just want water the deck to become real. there are so many good tools and it just needs another finisher.

I just pulled Zealantis. I thought the effect is useful, but no clue how to use it. I run Albaz Despia deck. I also pulled a Chimera Bystial

1+ Effect Monsters on a Link 4 - so, basically, super-generic and super easy to make by Link-4 standards. You can make it off of any two instant link-2s, an instant link-3 plus an extra monster, or even just a bunch of effect tokens. Effect 1 - I mean, at least it has a drawback. Effect 2 - Basically a total field reset for monsters, where you control how things are summoned. So if your opponent is playing a link deck, you can basically fuck them over and they can't do anything about it if the effect goes off. Also lets you reset soft OPT effects, which leads to a LOT of possible shenanigans. Oh, AND it says "owner's", not "previous controller's", so you can use it on Kaiju, Ra Sphere, Nordic enemies (Fenrir and Jourmungandr), etc. Effect 3 - Is that just yours or yours AND the opponents? It doesn't specify, so that makes me think it might be the latter. Which means you don't necessarily need to screw around with co-links if your opponent is doing so.

Think of having this in Tri-Brigade

I could see this in Dinos, everything in facedown defense then UTC wipes everything for 1k dmg each-could be fun!

You can make it using saryuuja to loop armaggedon knight

Resummon all opponent's monsters face down. Summon ultimate conductor tyranno. Tyranno goes brrrr.
