Why did the giant centipede Arthropleura disappear?

Ойын-сауық

During the permian period, the earth was already subject to extreme climate changes. Oxygen decreased gradually, with major consequences for the environment, among which the demise of Arthropleura, a distant relative of the centipedes.

Wish there was an accurate high budget movie series that took us through all the time periods on earth.. Yes, Avatar was awesome but would be so fascinating to see what our own planet was like through all the major leaps of evolution

KZread channel: "History of the Earth" probably has exactly what you want. They have videos for each period as well as videos combining a full history.

Fun fact... no centipede ever has 100 legs naturally. Since centipedes have 1 pair of legs per body segment and there are necessarily an odd number of body segments, the number of legs they have can never be anything but 2x an odd number. Since 100 is 2x (50), no centipede can possibly have 100 legs.

They should make a fighting video game with these creatures. Humans can be DLC content

It did.... large insects require high oxygen pressure in the atmosphere for them to breathe. They dont have lungs but have holes in their bodies that oxygen in the atmosphere PUSHES into by way of oxygens partial pressure. As the abundance of oxygen in the atmosphere was reduced and replaced by carbon dioxide, the large insects died off because the pressure of the oxygen in the atmosphere was not sufficient to push oxygen far enough into their bodies.
