Yes especially in the Italian theater but wool was chosen because of the Central European climate. More common in Italy and some in Russia; they used HBT feldbluses

It's just a cultural thing imo. In German if we have to get our hands dirty we call that "die Ärmel hochkrempeln" (rolling up the sleeve's). It's just easier to do hard work when you roll up the sleeves first, especially in hot weather. Also I doubt that other armies didn't do it.
Also, wool is one of the only materials that still insulates heat when wet.

@@miltonhart499 No it's not. Irish farmers wear wool sweaters, they don't roll up the sleeves. Just saying "wool" doesn't really mean much especially in a random ass KZread short. Did you know that the reason Nazi's wore ribbons on their uniforms is because they have pins? Basically the way he said it.
I was in the French army during the 2000's, we used to do that too.

I served in the U.S. Army. We rolled up our sleeves when it was hot. But it had to be approved by the chain of command. Going all Lone Wolf with the uniform was generally frowned upon.
Got to show off that forearm pump💪🏼
"They rolled up their sleeves to scare the enemy shirtless." *Badum tssss*
I refuse to believe that they didn't roll up their sleeves as an intimidation tactic
It’s comfortable and allows for the body to regulate heat better. Military members did this all over in WW2 all the way to today. We Marines do this quite a bit in the field

Not to brag or anything but I would look good in a German uniform. One of the perks to being a descendant of the fatherland
Considering how hot modern uniforms can get I can imagine how brutal it must have been in near completely wool uniforms.

Been a WW2 German re enactor for 30 years and from my experience they breath really well and don't get as bad as you might think.
The German and British army wore shirt sleeves rolled up in the spring to autumn. Called shirt sleeve order. Long sleeves worn autumn thru spring. Saved £ by not having separate shirts for summer/winter. Still happens.

“They did not roll up their sleeves to intimidate the enemy” thanks, those forearms really looked menacing. I was wondering if they were trying to scare the Allies
That's how I wear mine it's itchy when it's hot😂
Imma go out on a limb here and say maybe it was to get some air flowing, like people do when they get hot and are wearing long sleeves 🙄 but we can go with- it was to scare the enemy, sounds legit
