WHY DID THE CAT CROSS THE ROAD?

#mrhewes
Today we took delivery of this vintage CATERPILLAR D9G. We plan to restore this machine over the coming months in order to use it for recovery works and for creating off road assault courses for our tanks at shows.
More videos coming soon!

My dad could be gruff, but his switch was keen to see when his boys needed support. A friend had left his 'Modified Stock Car' in my dad's gas station repair bay for weeks. Dad asked when it was going to be moved. I got all defensive and blurted out 'It doesn't even handle; the wheel base is too long.' In WW2, he used to modify Jeeps for a bit of racing fun. He quietly wheeled over the torches and pointed to the frame just behind the motor mounts. 'I figure 13 inches from here should do it.' In about an hour, it was stiched back together, plated (he was an excellent welder), and touched up. I was so proud of him when the owners jaw dropped open, followed by a smile. Now, it handled.

Who Doesn't Love a Cat, Hey I used to operate them when I was a wee lad, Operating tip, make sure you pull the hand steering clutches all the way, do not pull them half way you will wear out the clutches, fully engaged or disengaged, pull hard release as required, tap brake to steer tighter. Lots of guys burn out there clutches. Keep and Eye on the Final drives the rear bearing takes all the shock loading when your pushing. It has a magnetic drain plug when you see chips pull the bearings and replace ASAP. you wait to long and then things get really ugly.

In today's woke society we cannot assume she is a bird nor call her a bird and the assumption of fitness is a personal assessment. BUT I do agree mr Hughes has a "fit bird" and I too, although I have one of the aforementioned at home would like mine to be a bit more into these sort of things as my trying to fake interest in cushions is getting tiresome. I did get her to go green laning a couple of times but come 4am in the morning after being accidentally but humorously upside down for a small amount of the night in a place I probably shouldn't of been (reminds me of an ex girlfriend) she decided she didn't like it any more. Now I came to realise after seing the v12 in the lounge of Mr Hughes that any girlfriend that is happy with such loverly decor must be a keeper, mine went spastic after coming home to find out I had put a pair of v8 cylinder head in the dishwasher, tottaly unreasonable i thought but I'm stuck with her now.

@@gertjanmokumUsed to have all our drums machined and shoes re-lined for DROPS and Foden at a place called Van Kappel, in NL. Lovely bunch of blokes. They brought a BBQ and beer at the end of the vehicle overhaul project, and we took them for a spin in said vehicles (pre beer and not all at once 😂).

Glad to see Adam putting on a brave face with his new haircut, I for one miss his old barnet. Those locks were a big draw for this channel, so sad to see them go.... I think we need to set up a Just Giving page to restore the heritage of his head and help others avoid the pitfalls of a dodgy barber. Gone but not forgotten....😢

Dear Joe, Not sure but this looks suspiciously like a Caterpillar D9 Dozer what was at that time one of the most powerful dozers. I look forward to the restoration project with this impressive piece of machinery. Nice to say farther and your girlfriend riding with her. The Scania looks absolutely gorgeous by the way. I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands

Another operating tip Newbies tend to dive the blade in the ground and try and push to much, start with a 1inch bite and move forward after about 25 feet you will have a full rolling blade of dirt. look down the on the right side between the track and the body you can see the bottom of the blade and regulate your cut. Open the throttle all the way put your foot on the decelerator as you move forward and pick up dirt add power to maintain speed.
