Is much more interesting why there are so many other countries in the world that have more pyramids than Egypt

Egypt was a populous country dedicated to agriculture, depending entirely on the natural cycles that caused the Nile River to flood. Sowing and harvesting could only occur after the water drained and the planting areas became dry. For several months of the year, Egyptians would have no work at all if the government didn't do something. So it is necessary to admit the hypothesis that the construction of pyramids had a triple purpose: religious, because the construction of the appropriate tomb would make the Pharaoh revive after death as Osiris; economic, providing work and income for the population in a period of floods when agriculture was impossible; political, in order to keep the population busy and disciplined, avoiding conspiracies, ruptures and civil wars. The Egyptians did not build pyramids during the period of greatest political stability. In fact they built political stability by maintaining the pyramid building program.

Come on, anyone whose been to Cairo knows the overlooking plateau makes any monument look more impressive. The ling covered walks from where the funeral boat drops off the sarcophagus for dragging up to its final resting place just adds to the prestige of the occupant.

I think economics had a lot to do with it. It's well known the 1st intermediate period happened shortly after the 4th dynasty. The economic cost of building the pyramids was astronomical. Quite frankly, they ran out of money.

@@wildrose2748 Certainly not the the Egyptians. It's said it took 15-30yrs to build. OK.. look at how many granite block there are, and then do a small calculation. It turns out that they had to place one block in its proper position in a three-dimensional puzzle with no blueprints/drawings every 2 minutes. That's excluding the cutting and polishing, tolerances that are hard to come by even today. All that done with copper tools?

The video shows the pyramids were built with limestone blocks, much softer and easier to work than granite, making copper tools quite plausible.
