Thank you for this clarification of why Pope Benedict resigned. I had a suspicion it had to do with moral decay as he left so suddenly. I really liked this pope from Germany and was hoping he would last a long time.

In high-school I went to a different church / temple every week fora year - Christmas 🎄. 51 .each I made a 4x5 card .who what where why how. .notes . I submitted them for are college self study . . I was turned down for credit . But I ended up here. Catholics encouraged questions after questions. They loved my research. . .

No this just pisses me off Benedict should have stay a fought for the holy mother our church. He is the pope, he needed whield the power of the state against this people and publicly remove them. I left Catholic Church 25 years ago because of the false unbiblical teachings, only God is omnipresent, see’s all and hear’s all, praying to a mere mortal is praying to a false god. Marry was a mortal with free will like you and I that was used by God, if she refused to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit God would have still loved her but would have found another young God fearing Jewish girl who would accept the task, God isn’t a rapist, he never forces himself on us, that wouldn’t be unconditional love. We are to direct our prayers to God (Jesus) himself, as he is a jealous God and will have no other Gods before him. Marry herself would take you by the shoulders and turn you toward Jesus herself, as stated in Romans 3:23, that we are ALL sinners, (all meaning everyone), marry was also a sinner and in need of a saviour herself as state in Luke 1:47. Be aware of any church that use another book which was written by man to teach their beliefs of the Bible other than standing on the true Word of God itself, as the Book of Mormon(latter day saints), the Watch Tower(Jehovah witness), the Catechism (Roman Catholic) their books to interpret the Bible their way (many false teachings). These churches will only use Biblical scripture that won’t contradict their teachings, which is totally against the word of God, it’s no wonder these churches are messed up. I know Catholicism the best because I was raised as a Roman Catholic for 37 years, I also served as an alter boy in my pre high school years, thankfully I wasn’t abused but left the church because I was made aware of the fact that the Catechism did not teach salvation through faith in Jesus alone. The Bible says we are saved by grace and not buy works, (Ephesians 2:8) no rituals, no jumping thru man made hoops, not by the Eucharist or how many times we attend the mass, not by going door to door handing out the Watchtower(Jehovah witness), these are all doing works, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is what ‘religion’ teaches. Jesus himself spoke against religion as in Matthew 23:1-36, as this speaks of the religious Jewish leaders of the day but you can easily compare it to today’s religious authorities. Being Born Again (John 3:1-21) as a true believer and acceptance of what Christ did for us on that cross is what makes us free from all religious rituals and free in spirit to serve and obey the truth not religion! As a Catholic I was told that I had to confess my sins to a priest regularly then perform the repetitious ritual of the rosary as a penance, hmm, what if there isn’t a priest around? and as most people we wouldn’t change or correct our sinful nature because all we had to do was go back to the priest next week(providing we don’t die first). As a Born Again child of God we are told told to simply pray to your Father in Heaven who know’s all and see’s all and ask for forgiveness and He who is right and just will forgive you! (John 1:9) But what I had learned in the word of God is that the key word is ‘REPENT’ sincere Godly repentance, ‘repel’, turn away from our sin and go the other way. ( acts 3:19). I tried to keep this letter short but there’s so much to say, most of my family is still in the Catholic Church, it’s hard to turn away from how we may been raised and break away from what our previous ancestors has taught us but (similar to all other religions, being raised as a Catholic has given me tolerance towards muslims & other religions) I had to take a stand for the truth and be obedient to Gods word rather than mans teaching, for it will be God who some day I’ll need to answer to, I am also accountable to God for how I raise my children! The biggest reason that attracted me to an evangelical Christian church was the Bible teaching on the pulpit Sunday morning and mid week Bible study’s, it was at a time that I was struggling with spiritual issues and needed healing from fear & depression in my life and being raised in a Catholic home my mother would always tell me that there was healing and truth in the Bible but would never read it because the priest would tell us not too because we common folks wouldn’t understand it, they would say “let us explain it to you”! (Lie from the pit of hell) I believe that’s why so many Roman Catholics are lost souls! 2Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4, there are many more verses, just google ‘reading Gods Word’. My mother would always say that I had hurt her because I left the Catholic Church but eventually (5yrs.) she came to the truth that salvation was in Jesus alone and not being a good Catholic, she would come to my church when she came to visit me & my family which was a big step for her considering she was raised with the teachings that a Roman Catholic should never attend a non Catholic service, although at 80 she never left her church, but always paid close attention to what the priest would say in his sermon and would occasionally question or at times correct him with scripture to back her up! she was free from religious bondage. Why would a priest not speak gospel truth? we have to remember that the leaders are in a greater bondage to religion than we are, they entered the priest hood knowing that they would vow to never marry (totally against the word of God) which is what open the door to be a haven for a man wanting to hide his homosexuality, and other sexual issues that he was dealing with. The Catholic Church only addresses this issue simply because they got caught, and even now their not dealing with the crimes according to the law of the land which God has commend us to do. Yes there has been several evangelical pastors that also got caught with immoral issues but the difference is their not hiding or covering it up, they work on Godly Repentance and forgiveness to the victims and church. (Remember we all for short of the glory of God in one way or another). My wife’s family hasn’t talked to us in over two years when we first left the Catholic Church, but now they come to know some truth through us and if there’s any issues with the family that needs prayer they call my wife first because they feel we are closer to God, the lack of Gospel truth in the Catholic Church saddens me! Satan will let you do anything, but hates it when you come to the Gospel truth, he knows when your under the salvation of Jesus he can’t have your soul! I know there’s God fearing Born again Christians in the Catholic Church, some of them are close friends, but they also know the full gospel teachings are not there. I Personally feel because the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t stand on the full word of God which leaves room for the evil one to enter in, (which explains why the church is always in controversy) therefore I can’t call the Roman Catholic Church ‘Christian’. At times I’ll often here the media when talking about churches they will use the terms ‘Roman Catholics and Christian churches’ when you look closely at both beliefs the differences are huge! There’s a saying that states, ‘the greatest lie is the one that’s closest to the truth’. GOD BLESS.

Michael Seaman if I was to die while in the Roman Catholic Church I would have went to hell because the church or any of my Catholic family knew that salvation was through Jesus Christ alone, we are save only by repentance and his amazing grace alone! I’ve come to believe that there is ‘Born Again’ Roman Catholic people in the church, (Some of them are friends of mine) the ones that study the Bible for themselves without corrupt interpretations from the priest, but personally I cannot say that the Roman Catholic Church itself is Christian because of what is taught!

Lightening hit the dome of the Vatican around that time. Now I can see why.

I have to agree. It won't be easy. I don't expect that it will happen quickly, but I do believe the Church has made tremendous progress in recent weeks because it has become clear to us all (lay and clergy) that there is a real problem with a gay subculture among powerful members of the clergy. That has been hinted at for decades (I heard rumors about a high number of practicing homosexuals in the clergy in the 80's and in the 1990's I began to read about the "Lavender Mafia" in conservative Catholic periodicals). Apparently, some of these rumors were true when the scandals first came out in the early 2000's, but nothing was done about predatory homosexual Priests (and Bishops like Mccarrin) preying on young men and teenage males. Is it a result of powerful predatory clergy wanting it to seem that the only problem was abuse of children? I really hope not, but if so, then we really have to play a big role as laity to help renew the Church. At least now, the gay subculture which allowed some men to prey on seminarians and teenage males is in the open and can be addressed. I don't believe this was done because the guilty members of clergy have repented, but the Church as a whole (including laity) are better positioned to do something about it now than we were a few weeks ago. I recommend that the laity take a zero-tolerance attitude towards complacency on the part of the hiearchy, while following the facts and remembering the principle of presuming innocence until proven otherwise. This can't be allowed to become a which hunt either.

I'm just curious, is the church telling you to go back to reading your bible? Are they telling you to especially read Revelations? Are they telling you that they are Mystery Babylon? Are they telling you that God commands us to get out? Do they really care about our salvation? If we believe that God is the word, why as Catholics aren't we listening to the word? We are baptized and promise to have nothing to do with Satan's work. If Satan has taken over the church, aren't we knowingly breaking our baptism vows?

I am excited about the prospect of purging the Church of these vices.

Kevin Gooley Don Bailey Wow! The rosary is an abomination to God! I left Catholic Church 25 years ago because of the false unbiblical teachings, only God is omnipresent, see’s all and hear’s all, praying to a mere mortal is praying to a false god. Marry was a mortal with free will like you and I that was used by God, if she refused to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit God would have still loved her but would have found another young God fearing Jewish girl who would accept the task, God isn’t a rapist, he never forces himself on us, that wouldn’t be unconditional love. We are to direct our prayers to God (Jesus) himself, as he is a jealous God and will have no other Gods before him. Marry herself would take you by the shoulders and turn you toward Jesus herself, as stated in Romans 3:23, that we are ALL sinners, (all meaning everyone), marry was also a sinner and in need of a saviour herself as state in Luke 1:47. Be aware of any church that use another book which was written by man to teach their beliefs of the Bible other than standing on the true Word of God itself, as the Book of Mormon(latter day saints), the Watch Tower(Jehovah witness), the Catechism (Roman Catholic) their books to interpret the Bible their way (many false teachings). These churches will only use Biblical scripture that won’t contradict their teachings, which is totally against the word of God, it’s no wonder these churches are messed up. I know Catholicism the best because I was raised as a Roman Catholic for 37 years, I also served as an alter boy in my pre high school years, thankfully I wasn’t abused but left the church because I was made aware of the fact that the Catechism did not teach salvation through faith in Jesus alone. The Bible says we are saved by grace and not buy works, (Ephesians 2:8) no rituals, no jumping thru man made hoops, not by the Eucharist or how many times we attend the mass, not by going door to door handing out the Watchtower(Jehovah witness), these are all doing works, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is what ‘religion’ teaches. Jesus himself spoke against religion as in Matthew 23:1-36, as this speaks of the religious Jewish leaders of the day but you can easily compare it to today’s religious authorities. Being Born Again (John 3:1-21) as a true believer and acceptance of what Christ did for us on that cross is what makes us free from all religious rituals and free in spirit to serve and obey the truth not religion! As a Catholic I was told that I had to confess my sins to a priest regularly then perform the repetitious ritual of the rosary as a penance, hmm, what if there isn’t a priest around? and as most people we wouldn’t change or correct our sinful nature because all we had to do was go back to the priest next week(providing we don’t die first). As a Born Again child of God we are told told to simply pray to your Father in Heaven who know’s all and see’s all and ask for forgiveness and He who is right and just will forgive you! (John 1:9) But what I had learned in the word of God is that the key word is ‘REPENT’ sincere Godly repentance, ‘repel’, turn away from our sin and go the other way. ( acts 3:19). I tried to keep this letter short but there’s so much to say, most of my family is still in the Catholic Church, it’s hard to turn away from how we may been raised and break away from what our previous ancestors has taught us but (similar to all other religions, being raised as a Catholic has given me tolerance towards muslims & other religions) I had to take a stand for the truth and be obedient to Gods word rather than mans teaching, for it will be God who some day I’ll need to answer to, I am also accountable to God for how I raise my children! The biggest reason that attracted me to an evangelical Christian church was the Bible teaching on the pulpit Sunday morning and mid week Bible study’s, it was at a time that I was struggling with spiritual issues and needed healing from fear & depression in my life and being raised in a Catholic home my mother would always tell me that there was healing and truth in the Bible but would never read it because the priest would tell us not too because we common folks wouldn’t understand it, they would say “let us explain it to you”! (Lie from the pit of hell) I believe that’s why so many Roman Catholics are lost souls! 2Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4, there are many more verses, just google ‘reading Gods Word’. My mother would always say that I had hurt her because I left the Catholic Church but eventually (5yrs.) she came to the truth that salvation was in Jesus alone and not being a good Catholic, she would come to my church when she came to visit me & my family which was a big step for her considering she was raised with the teachings that a Roman Catholic should never attend a non Catholic service, although at 80 she never left her church, but always paid close attention to what the priest would say in his sermon and would occasionally question or at times correct him with scripture to back her up! she was free from religious bondage. Why would a priest not speak gospel truth? we have to remember that the leaders are in a greater bondage to religion than we are, they entered the priest hood knowing that they would vow to never marry (totally against the word of God) which is what open the door to be a haven for a man wanting to hide his homosexuality, and other sexual issues that he was dealing with. The Catholic Church only addresses this issue simply because they got caught, and even now their not dealing with the crimes according to the law of the land which God has commend us to do. Yes there has been several evangelical pastors that also got caught with immoral issues but the difference is their not hiding or covering it up, they work on Godly Repentance and forgiveness to the victims and church. (Remember we all for short of the glory of God in one way or another). My wife’s family hasn’t talked to us in over two years when we first left the Catholic Church, but now they come to know some truth through us and if there’s any issues with the family that needs prayer they call my wife first because they feel we are closer to God, the lack of Gospel truth in the Catholic Church saddens me! Satan will let you do anything, but hates it when you come to the Gospel truth, he knows when your under the salvation of Jesus he can’t have your soul! I know there’s God fearing Born again Christians in the Catholic Church, some of them are close friends, but they also know the full gospel teachings are not there. I Personally feel because the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t stand on the full word of God which leaves room for the evil one to enter in, (which explains why the church is always in controversy) therefore I can’t call the Roman Catholic Church ‘Christian’. At times I’ll often here the media when talking about churches they will use the terms ‘Roman Catholics and Christian churches’ when you look closely at both beliefs the differences are huge! There’s a saying that states, ‘the greatest lie is the one that’s closest to the truth’. GOD BLESS.

Well , I had this dream where I saw a pope who had red eyes ,like that of an owl ,evil and I ran and climbed up flights of stairs leading to heaven . So it was disturbing for me and I told people about it and they said I should pray for the pope. A few days later , the pope resigned . A mean example: The time I lived at a town in the West Chester County, NY, 28 years ago, the general secretary of one of Synagogues of that town, took the money to invest in the market. He did that to retain part of the procedures and return the principal. The market failed and at that time he had to justify to the council: 130,000.00 dollars. He was found guilty and called to return the money. As the secretary didn't have the money to return to the Synagogue, unfortunately, he got despaired and committed a suicide. So, where there is money there is the tail of devil watching the game.

Dear Dr. Marshall, It breaks my heart to hear all of this. I left the catholic church over six years ago. I could no longer follow corrupt leadership in the faith. The years of child sexual abuse and brutal treatment I witnessed as a child in my catholic grade school was more than I could take anymore. I realized the church had been infiltrated by corrupt sick people. I did not give up my faith in Jesus, I became a born again christian and have found a deeper faith in Christ through bible study. I thank you for staying in the trenches to help combat the corruption but as for me, I could no longer associated with this corruption. You probably won't agree with me because I felt the same way at first, but you are the church and not these criminals. Jesus said there would be evil in the church. Just think about Judas sitting next to him. Look at the big picture here. These people are not the church and will be gone one day. Jesus is the church and they face something much more severe. Pray for the victims and go towards your church in defense of it for Christ . Just like you would defend your loved ones. The church are your loved one's too. May God be with you.

It saddens my heart to hear all those things. I understand the reason people left the church. However, although sinners run the Catholic church, and they did horrible acts, but I believe the validity and the value of the Sacraments remain the same. One of the biggest reason that I stay being Catholic is the Blessed Sacrament. Please pray for each other that the truth, despite how ugly it is, will be revealed and one day all Christians will be united.

I also subscribed after hearing this report of evil doings. Pope Benedict XVI is a great man of God. Exposing this evil was the right thing to do. Others give a blind eye. Dr. Marshall, thank you for the great effort in putting this together. I also believe scandal of this kind is also in the Greek Orthodox church. I am Greek and I believe a great leader in our church, Archbishop Christodoulos died in 2008. Rumor has it, he was murdered quietly. Also, many rumors of money and moral scandals within the church. Kimkay,...……….what you are saying is the opposite of what the Bible and Tradition teach us. The people of God in the Old Testament and the New Testament believed in the intercession of the dead holy people. This was the belief of the Jews and all of Christendom till the 16th century when Protestants changed this centuries old original teaching. In the Bible we read this verse "And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people:cast them out from mysight, and let them go forth." Jer 15:1 God’s words to Jeremiah implies that the dead can pray for the living. Moses and Samuel lived and died at separate times before Jeremiah. God would not have said this if it was not an existing truth. It was said because the prophet Jeramiah took it for granted, meaning he understood and accepted intercession of the holy dead persons as a possibility. Jeremiah knew that this was ordinary and part of the Jewish Tradition that the Jews have been already practicing. More in the next post

The daily prayers of the Divine Office must be mandated again for all religious...priests, bishops, cardinals and popes!

You forgot to mention the lighting strike on the Vatican when Pope Benedict announced his resignation. I don't think he should have resigned.

@@alohamja Yes... Each & every time a new Pope is 'accepted' into the Vatican the signal of this "acceptance" is visual for ALL to witness by the release of White Smoke in the air above... But on this "inauguration", the white smoke became BLACK... A BIG signal indeed as a Pope is only chosen when the existing Pope dies, as there is no such thing as 'retirement' for them.. they finish their duty "till death do they part". Some ppl say that the Black Smoke is due to GOD's pronunciation that evil has now fully entered into the Vatican. Also this New False Pope calls himself the 'Deacon (or Beacon?) Of the Vatican' and Is NOT THE POPE at all! (Maybe The Black Pope?) ((Hmm... perhaps THIS IS WHY he wouldn't allow parishioners to kiss his ring! )) As the TRUE Pope has NOT died and, as a matter-of-fact, he STILL resides on the Vatican Grounds... Hope that helps! We need to Pray for discernment GOD BLESS 🌿💕🌿

As soon as I saw Pope Francis and heard his speeches I knew he was an evil man and I pray that God will remove him very very soon!

With all the historic events happening in US..ex...all the resignations in government, CEOs, etc...this is certainly huge, also? How many times has a Pope resigned? And then follow up Pope either thinking of resigning or being pushed to resign? If the world knew the world wide evil going on, including horrific crimes against children...civilization as we know it ...would be over. Revealing this, and I’m sure worse evils, is like dress rehearsal for end times. Many are starting to look upward, seeking and we pray accepting Christ’s free gift of salvation. And we know many more will! We have made many idols of men, and other thins. We can not put any man on a pedestal. No man will save us. Our salvation is in God through Jesus’ death and resurrection! We are already victorious? Life”s short! Pray hard! Read the Book!

Before pressing the like button I would like to hear what the Pope has to say in his defence. I know he made himself look bad by his statement but I am still willing to give him the benefit of doubt! I am hoping with everything I am that we are jumping the gun and misunderstanding what he may have been thinking. Either way the truth will come out!
