Fun fact: The original book had Hook missing his right hand because the author was left handed, whereas Disney's version had it be the left hand due to the reference or voice actor being a righty. The only other Captain Hook that's left handed and lost the right one is Tim Curry's version in Peter Pan and the Pirates, as well as the 2003 Pan movie.

I’ve read a few adaptations that explain Hook and Peter’s relationship, and you’re theory isn’t far from the mark that often appears. Peter initially wanted to “play” with Hook and the pirates, so he stole their treasure. When Hook and his pirates came after him (as per Peter’s story of being surrounded by pirates), Peter managed to cut off Hook’s hand in the fight and threw it to the crocodile. He then later threw a hook down to Hook, telling him that he should use that in place of his missing hand since it would be suitable due to his name.

you know if you think about it when hook kidnapped Jane in return to Neverland, Hook ran the risk of having his ship shot down by the anti-aircraft cannons because at the time Britain was in the middle of World War II.

Captain Hook: At long last, I’ll finally exact my revenge on that blasted Pan by kidnapping Wendy by flying through the sky clearly visible to anyone and- *Hook and his ship suddenly gets shot up by one of the anti-aircraft guns and crashes to the ground* British Soldier 1: Holy Crap did we just shoot down a flying pirate ship?! Alternative add-on to your theory: Marooner's Rock is out in the mermaids' bay, Hook's favored harbor for the Jolly Roger. To have confronted Hook on Marooner's Rock suggests that Hook was in the process of leaving Neverland, sailing out of the harbor after he got what he came for. If his goal in Neverland is pixie dust and magic... what better source than a pixie? We saw him do exactly that with Zarina once before. With Tinker Bell (who he's already met and not on good terms with) known to be out on her own with only a group of small boys in his way, one might assume that Hook sought to capture Tink and use her for his pirating purposes. Suppose he actually got her and was making off with his prize, only to be stopped in the harbor by a flying twelve-year-old with a habit of slashing the Jolly Roger's sails. Hook fights to be rid of Peter, and fails as usual, but snatches Tink in his left hand as she makes a break for freedom. Peter slashes his hand off, frees his friend (mother figure?) Tink, and feeds the hand to a nearby crocodile in his usual way of snubbing Hook. Hook is angry, Peter inflates his ego, Tinker Bell owes the kid her life, and a few years later down the line the Darling children stumble into this mess. Dramatic, no?

in an adaption of Peter Pan called Peter Pan and the Pirates, Pan cut off Hook's hand because he killed two of his lost boys and was now trying to kill him. So in defense he grabbed Hook's sword and swung. The episode is call "First Encounter" if you would like to watch. It's on KZread :) This adaption is honestly my second favorite Peter Pan adaption besides the Disney one.

The reason why it happened because Hook lied to Pan and the lost boys, but Peter is the unknown antagonist because if nobody believed in fairies, they would get tortured by him. Captain Hook was also a good guy and that is why he wanted to become rich and live his life as a pirate.

Being honest I don’t like Peter Pan. I love hook though. Peter Pan doesn’t seem like a nice person because he has done things in the movie that seem very wrong to do. Peter Pan is suppose to be good not bad. I liked a video I saw on KZread asking why does hook hate Peter Pan? That’s a good question. That caught my eye a lot. Peter Pan seems like a kid who thinks he can do whatever he wants and don’t have to listen to anyone.

I have a suggestion for a theory and it is about Tinkerbell. We know how twins exist. But, fairies are not familiar with twins, only siblings. But, how would a sibling exist. Like, would human siblings create fairy siblings. Can you try and find out how siblings work, not twins. I am VERY confused.

No, periwinkle and tink are technically the only pixie fairies that are sisters. If you've seen the entire movie Secret of the Wings, it states that they were created by the same laugh. The laugh split in two, one landing in the winter season and the other in the summer season. They have identical wings as well, so I think that classifies as twins...? But the baby that laughed in the original tinker bell laughed by herself, so peri and tink being sisters because the baby laughed with a sibling kinda goes against this.

Fairy twins or triplets are caused by the the laugh splitting and creating multiple fairies. In the books, there are fire talent triplets, and in the movies we have Tinkerbell and Periwinkle. Siblings can have different talents, but I think that's sort of rare.

I would agree with the whole theory's end result, although come on man Peter isn't going to think with that kind of deliberation. He may have even just thought Hook's quest would be impossible for a one handed pirate. Hook's hook still needed to be fashioned to fit on his arm right where his hand used to be after all, & faries can fly

Legend has it that as Hook's hand was being thrown to the crocodile, right when it was in the middle of its jaws, the hand paused for a brief moment, and gave Hook the middle finger by itself, and then got eaten by the crocodile.

Well too bad that that's not canon because if it was that was solved a whole bunch of questions honestly I think Peter Pan cut off his hand because he's a sadistic f***

Taking into consideration that in the sequel, hook could have (despite the war as well keeping that in mind happening around the time) done exactly that, unless i'm mistaken, given the fact that his ship was still capable of flying as those of us who watched the film saw- but he doesn't, no. Instead, he kidnaps who he believes to be wendy, apparently having forgotten what she looks like as well as the concept of time being an actual thing... not to mention, how did he know where she lived? ...stalker much? idk. anyways, he didn't plunder and pillage the world while they were to busy with their war to stop the pirate, instead he kidnaps Wendy's daughter and brings her BACK with them to neverland to torment peter in someway.

I think Hook is scared of tick tock croc because....its a crocodile, but also the constant ticking is probably just making Hook go crazy and become upset so when he hears the ticking he becomes manic.

I always thought Hook's hand being cut off was the result of Peter Pan's pranking nature. That's the reason in J.M. Barrie's novel. I just assumed Disney left it in because it was important to Hook's design, but omitted the reasoning to make Peter more likable.

I really enjoyed this video - however, I think the book Peter And Wendy gives us the REAL answer : in the author's mind, it is absolutely mandatory for children to seek fun and be cruel, while completely dismissing the severity and consequences of their actions. Also, Peter tries to kill a friend, because he thinks he killed Wendy (who he just met only a few hours ago) and his friend accepted his fate (he only survived because a very much alive Wendy grabbed Peter's hand every time he tried to strike his friend down). Growing up is against the rules (most certainly Peter's rules), so Peter 'takes care' of his friends, once they get old (although not outright stated, it is heavily implied that he kills them, there and then - perhaps to prevent them to become pirates like many adults ... or, more likely, just because he's cruel and tyrannical). Once you know how much the original author insists on the cruelty and tyranny of children, it becomes quite clear that Peter (who is not really known for making plans, anyway) acted mostly out of cruelty. Another possibility is that he wanted to take Hook's place, all along. This is hinted at, when Peter takes over Hook's ship and makes a hook figure with the fingers of his right hand (yes, in the original book, it's the right hand - not the left), while wearing Hook's coat, as the children travel back to England, at the end of the story. Then again, Disney's Peter Pan is not the same as the original, so your explanations are very good, too. Great video. Keep making them so good - they're nice to watch.

3:54 In an episode of Jake and the Neverland pirates, we learn that Peter is a protector or something of the sort and that's how he can fly with out pixie dust. So back to what you were saying, he probably cut off hooks hand when he was protecting Pixie Hallow.(just some food for thought)

Funfact: for some random reason, the Finnish translation of the song "Johnny Comes Marhing Home" makes Captain Hook a cheered hero who was the terror of the sea who cleaning gardens empty, used the ship's pirate flag as a napkin, stoned a rooster, defied a monstrous cod and knew exactly where all the treasures were. It's a completely random translation of a song that doesn't really make any sense, plus it's not an official song, but it's still fun.

Captain Hook is both left and right handed. He has hook tools indicating he prefers he is left handed and he still has his right hand meaning he’s literally right handed

Great theory; I absolutely agree but I believe there’s more to this theory. Maybe the main reason for this could maybe jealousy or revenge, if a close member or friend was murdered or kidnapped. I’m not sure but I think that could be one reason; there might be more reasons out there. 🐉

I found this funny how this was recommended to me exactly two years later. I was cast in Tinker Bell, a play version of the original novel as well, which is ironic. Great theory videos by the way!

I noticed in the film hook that it's his left hand that he's lost, whereas in the other films, it's his right?

Honestly agreed, i like the 2D animated one, but I personally think the most handsome version of him is from the live action Peter Pan movie from 2003 💗

First just Let me start off with..."🐊"! Second Personally I always felt that for James Hook, Tiktok represents time creeping up on him. That he'll be old and (by his own measure) a failure, and worse, a joke. Something he cannot abide. To Hook the crocodile is an embodiment of his time literally running out on him and/or hunting him to his doom. This man, needs a life-coach!

I think Peter cut off Hook's hand because he's an energetic 13-year-old boy and thought that using a knife was fun. Maybe he also thought Hook was mean to the mermaids, Lost Boys, Indians, etc. Or maybe he knew that he was going to pick up Wendy and wanted to impress her. Maybe.

I had absolutely no idea about any of this. Thank you for all the information about Peter pan. I was never really a huge fan of Peter pan but I watched it a few times and found it to be pretty good but yeah, I never really got into it. But yeah, thanks for sharing this information with us, I found it to be pretty interesting. I never knew about any of this so once again, thank you for sharing this with us, I really enjoyed the video.

Only by the books, I was said the "childish prank" of Peter, was actually a cruel way of Peter to entertain himself, for he so narcissistic and psychotic, for try "thin off" him and his other grown lost kids who became his crew in this "prank".

Maybe Peter didn’t mean to cut of hooks hand and only did it to defend himself or something like that He also probably did realize that tic toc crock would love hooks meat so much besides he’s been a kid do how long already?!?! he probably became a bit reckless and care free

There was movie where it shows hook and pan as friends then he cut his hand off but it was live action movie but idk if it is in the life

Hey l know its late but tick tock come from an egg you can watch it on tinker bell and the pirate fairy and you can see the 🐊 being born with the fairies the 🐊 even thought her mom is Rosetta which is tinker bell’s friend

I mean, to be hunted by a crocodile till either it dies or it gets you, Hook has every right to be traumatized. I mean, the dude has bags under his eyes!

I just can't believe or understand that the only thing Hook cares about are treasures nothing else... not even Neverland itself or his crew, seems pretty dark to me

Ever try watching FOX's Peter Pan and the Pirates? I know it's different from Disney but there was some very good motivation in that one where Peter tells the Back Story of how he'd met Hook & Cut off his hand the episode is called "First Encounter".

The amount of times that ive seen this video in my recommended and thought the thumbnail said hooks hair instead of hand is ridiculous

well Peter's a narcissist likes hearing stories about himself never wants to grow old wants immortality we can see this in the second movie idk that's my theory

On my gosh, this is a good video and I like it. I am a writing a fun Disney Peter Pan prequel/ Tinker Bell series finale story and this answers some of my questions what may have with Peter's battle with Captain Hook. To be honest, I don't think Peter Pan is that malevolent to cut people's limbs off (JM Barrie's version yes). I think like you said, it was to stop Captain Hook and his evil plans. I believe Peter Pan cut off Hook's hand because Hook was super close to kill someone (e.g. Tinker Bell or the Lost Boys). Like an instinct and a quick reflex without thinking, he bolted without thinking. It's like, he's not trying but he did all the same.

Wait. The famous Peter Pan, really did cut off Captain Hook’s hand? I don’t believe it!
