Considering that Autobots were originally designed, by Primus, to be primarily scholars, medical workers, and generally fill more "aristocrat" type roles, while the bots that would become Decepticons were primarily manual labor, slaves, and gladiators, it makes sense that Megatron and the Decepticons would initially wipe the floor with The Primes and the Autobots.

I feel like people forgot that when Megatron was revived they used other parts to replace his damaged ones and in TF3 he was weak due to being mortally wounded in TF2. Optimus Prime the entire time got stronger and newer weapons. It’s not Michael Bay and plot holes, it’s us not paying attention.

I really enjoyed the movies and appreciate you trying to make sense of Michael Bay’s unexplained character design choices. I’d also add that it’s interesting how in the first movie, Megatron refuses to opt for a human vehicle, due to his pride and sticks with his cybertronian jet. Whereas by the third film, he has been reduced to a shell of his former self, ruling the deceptions from the shadows as a veiled truck in the desert.

Prime also was holding back because he wasn't sure he could bring himself to kill Megatron. He says "You left me no choice brother" he and Megs were very close so it's pretty in character for him to hold back.

I highly disagree if megatron got a hold of the Allspark the human race would be wiped out, the Autobots would’ve lost and the Decepticons would rule the universe, Optimus just got dominated as 07 megatron was too op, he was toying with Optimus and was beating him, when Optimus landed hits megatron just used prime’s own momentum against him, Megatron in tf1 is the best, he’s animalistic brutal and he is strategic, they also flew through a full building killing everybody inside.

The best Megatron design has to be TF5, he looks so badass and puts the fear back in him

We need to give megatron a lot of credit since he was capable of going back to fighting Optimus after being dead for awhile. Not everyone gets a second chance, and to risk getting killed again with a new body that he hadn’t gotten used to yet is impressive.

For his Revenge of the Fallen/Dark of the Moon form, besides what you said about lack of experience in that body my theory is that his actual body was weakened since as we know his second body was made using what was left of his first form in combination with other Decepticon parts. His original body was left in the bottom of the ocean for a couple of years which might of been rusting/wearing down the body, in combination the donated parts that were used to rebuilt him came from a Constructicon (Little One/Scrapmetal) who was likely on the weaker end with how easily/fast the other Constructicons turned on him as well as potentially the other dead 2007 cons that were also at the bottom of the ocean. I think him taking up the shotgun in DOTM was a combination of what you said and due to the fact that he lost his ROTF fusion cannon due to the arm being chopped off, so it was likely both easier and more convenient to build a handheld fire arm over another integrated weapon as well as being better suited for Megatron's preferred fighting style. In general Megatron's body in ROTF/DOTM left him somewhat crippled and the Decepticons were too starved of resources and equipment to properly rebuild him to full capacity, so him being able to get a fresh new body from KSI was a dream opportunity for him.

The Mission city battle was when Optimus realized he needed to arm and train himself for fighting. That's why he took a sudden leap forward in combat effectiveness. This caught Megatron off guard while he was already in a vulnerable state.

This was an awesome explanation. I always wondered if it was the disproportion physique that made Megatron a little slower compared to his first form. As you said it makes more sense as to why he was more formidable once he got his TF4 & 5 forms.

A Rocket League KZreadr changed his name from JHZER to JZR, while the change is subtle it is still a change and he has approximately ten times the subscribers as you. You can easily adopt the same type of change. "Transformers Theories", "Transitive Theories", "TT" or some other thing of a correlating name/meaning. Changing your name doesn't change your channel in the slightest. People will figure out who you are once they hear your voice, assuming they're a regular viewer. If they're brand new to the channel then changing your name won't matter as they are not accustom to any name yet. Just say "I'm too lazy to bother" as that is way more applicable than "it's too popular" because that excuse is bullshit.

As an accompanying note on Galvatron's design, KSI advertised Stinger as more advanced than Bumblebee, but no such advertising was shown for Galvatron, but his alt-mode, a Freightliner Argosy, is the direct successor to the Freightliner FLA series of Cab Over Engine trucks, which just so happens to be the series of trucks that Optimus Prime's alt-mode in G1 came from.

A good theory could also be that on earth Optimus did some digging in human martial arts and warfare and "downloaded" as much as he could. If there is one thing we humans excels at its to make up ways to deliver alot of hurt

Another reason why the theory makes sense is Optimus is the only who fight like a human cracked on cocaine primal style even t1 Megatron didn't show any of this savagery Optimus now possesses. A thing you forgot, in Revenge of the Fallen Megatron had extra weight in his legs as they were bigger and bulkier due to becoming a triple changer and having a tank alt mode. This slowed him down a lot more and it's noticeable when he kicks Optimus. The kick is rather slow and Optimus easily grabs his leg and stops the kick.

A lot of great points made, I especially like the idea that Megatron was controlling Galvatrons design despite the scientists efforts to make it look like Optimus, it makes sense why because it more resembles his original form. Nice explanation.

I really like how in details, you notice in TF2 final battle Megatron slowly walking at Optimus and getting his own gun turned against him not doing anything to stop it, because he’s practically disabled in a body not fully his

I'd always thought that the reason he got weaker in 2 and 3 was tied to his resurrection. His body was dropped into the Marianas Trench after the first movie, exposed to the highest pressures on earth as well as salt water and possibly thermal vents. Salt water is *not* good for metal. Combine that with the fact that another Decepticon had to be killed for spare parts, and Megatron is basically a Frankenstein's monster made of corpses. Jetfire in 2 established that age did affect the Transformers, causing them to rust and slowly fall apart. Megatron in Fallen and Dark of the Moon was basically rotting during those movies. It wasn't just weight distribution. His structural integrity was compromised because he was a walking corpse. Was my interpretation anyway.

Megaton does have some experience with blades considering he was a gladiator in Kaon before the war, but I don’t think he’s ever had to seriously fight with one in millions of years, so he’s probably just extremely rusty with them

His Galvatron form felt most comfy to him as it very much fitted his style of combat

I always thought it was because Sam forced the Allspark into Megatrons core which permanently messed with his entire body since, you know. its basically his heart. On top of that he was left in the bottom of the ocean for a pretty long time and revived down there so the water could have messed up his insides or maybe some sea creatures got in there. Those were always my reasons for why he got weaker between 1 and 2.

I'm very new in the community and your explaining makes it easier for me to understand all the movies and characters thank you :)

Subbed. I love the breakdown and effort put into the Bayverse stories and intricacies. I have a feeling there’s an accidental greatness at times with these movies that what you explain fits in but may not have been part of the intent even.

Technically, Megatron was really powerful in TF 1, because he could shrug of an ion blast from Optimus,and still shoot him. He could even take plenty of hits and still not die. But in rotf, be was weaker because he wasn't used to his new body, the bots that fixed him placed an allspark piece into his cavity,which gives Megatron a new body and a different fusion canon. In dark of the moon, he becomes a truck for a reason,he was tired and weakened,and he had a shotgun instead. In aoe, he was at least stronger than his rotf and dotm counterparts,but we still don't get to see what more he is capable of. In tlk,he had and even shorter screentime,but his abilities are stronger as well compare to rotf and dotm. So conclusion,his power level: TF 1: 120/100 Rotf: 70/100 Dotm: 15/100 AOE: 85/100 Tlk: 92/100 This is my opinion,you don't have to agree with me.

My theory is that megatron is copying Optimus In the third movie he chose a truck mode like Optimus In the fourth movie he revived like Optimus Im the fifth movie he got a knight body like Optimus

Part of me would like to believe that the screenwriters put all of the different chassis modifications and new fighting noves in to support the theories you provide but honestly, they probably just tried to make megatron look meaner and more intimidating for each movie.

I love how the designers made Megatrons figure to be a brawler, considering the lore behind Megatron.

My favourite design of Megatron is the revenge of the fallen/rotf transformation because it wasn’t like his cybertronion jet form and was a cool looking cybertronion tank that could also fly and I have to admit my least favourite part about him is the way his left arm looks like it’s a scraplets arm and is tiny but out of the designs I like tlk megatrons blaster and how he can retract it and his battle mask is awesome, something we never saw on Megatron before.

I literally just found your videos, been a huge fan of the Transformers and Megatron happens to be my favourite character even though he's the bad guy, lol, he's just such a beast.. awesome work man, I love how you broke everything down.

BlitzHD _ tbh i don’t think he could do it on prime unless he had the element of surprise which would be difficult since most of the time optimus is with the autobots And since he’s a brawler it would be much easier if he could use the sword on optimus instead of the shoulder pad

I feel you M8 At the 1st to 3rd film Optimus said that the Cube was the one who created them But when it comes to the 4th and 5th everything changed Optimis now said that "Quinntessa" was their creator and that the Medieval People 1st encointered the Transformers If you compare it to the 1st film Optimus said that Sam Witwicky's grandfather was the One who 1st encountered a transformer (Megatron). He clearly said "It was an accident that Entertwined our Fates" The 5h movie was clearly rushed they didn't expalin everything on why Galvatron turned back into Megatron.

One thing I don’t see anybody mention is when they kill decepticons in the later movies, like robot “blood” shoots out which I think is just stupid, it was way cooler in TF2 when sideswipe killed barricade and sliced through him and a bunch of nuts and bolts came out

Optimus has never been as big or strong as megatron. Megatron has always overpowered Optimus. However, Optimus was faster, more agile, and smarter than megatron. His battle strategy was much better than megatron's, as like you said, he was a brawler. I think that what we see as the series goes on is Optimus consistantly adjusting his battle strategy, and using his speed to outclass megatron. At no point through any of the films did Optimus ever over power megatron except when combined with jetfire. He only out classes/outsmarts him, after taking many hard overpowering blows. Optimus was a scientist and a prime after all. However, his body degradation sure looks like it plays a role after watching your video.

In my opinion Megatron is not weak but optimus who starts to get used to the earth and optimus always loses when fighting in the city because he wants to save humans, if in TF 2 why doesn't he hold back even though there is Sam, because he is cornered then that is the last choice to protect Sam and he is also really angry and if when fighting Galvatron, Optimus is protecting Tessa and Optimus doesn't need to give all his abilities. So the megatron is not becoming weak but optimus is evolve faster. Sorry bad english

Optimus is stronger and more faced in combat although megatron can withstand more hits and blasts and has more armor. It might seem that megatron is stronger because he always beats prime but that is false prime has to protect the humans and fight off the decipticons it’s like he’s protecting and fighting at the same time. Prime would risk his life to save the humans

I personally think that Prime was indeed holding back in the first film, it was pretty obvious because he wanted to sacrifice himself to end the war, that was his goal for that battle. In ROTF you could see how he fought as he was pissed that Megatron was revived so he was really in a fighting mode.

I actually liked the fallen and DOTM megaton the best. The alt form is just so good imo, he gets amazing off road, good control and a cannon. Plus I just really love the design. Even if it’s the weakest form I still like it the best.

He’s barely in the goddamn movie, I hate how he’s shoved to the side in the last 4 movies. He was genuinely terrifying in the 07 film, he just made you constantly think the Autobots were going to lose. In the later movies he is swapped out for mindless, weak, and sh*tty Megatron. And then they bring in these other mindless main villains (only one I like is Lockdown since he has a similar scare factor to that of TF1 Megatron). They ruined Megatron just after 1 movie, what a shame.

@@mooingsage8138 he backstabbed sentinel, it wasnt a straight fight,so megatron won.. we wont know who would win in a face to face fight.. since he is portrayed as constantly being fixed in dotm,so assuming he s weak is a good point i guess.

You know, you pointing things out like how the megatron fights scene in transformers 5 being an homage to the fight scene in rotf but he learned from his mistakes, is the type of thing that makes me realise that there was a little more thought being put in these movies than we originally believed. So micheal bay should be praising you for lowering the amount of hate we give him.

sometimes i wonder, do we hate him just because he didnt make movie we wanted. all we had was comics and animated series, but live action is very different than both media. of course the movie will be 99% cgi, but for the movie to work human character is needed.

I don't think we hated the movies because they weren't like g1, because by the first bayformers movie there were many variations already. I thunk we just disliked what he did. He didn't put enough money towards the writing so we had a jumbled mess of a franchise, but thanks to trans theories, we can see the story a bit better.

Adawnicus E. I enjoyed the movies a lot. I'm simple, I don't care for story or plot, I just want to see badass robots fighting each other and causing explosions. I feel like that's what Michael Bay was trying to do as well. He doesn't necessarily want to appeal to an audience who wants a story, he wants to appeal to an audience that just like badass shit. People like me, so to me the transformers movies are fucking awesome.

You seriously think that after *millions* of years of war on Cybertron, Optimus didn't learn how to beat Megatron, but after 2 years on Earth, he learned how to fight 3 transformers (including Megatron) at once?

Yeah, especially considering Megatron stayed in the ice for centuries, and in cryostasis at hoover dam for 73 years, he still ripped Jazz in 2 pieces and defeated Optimus one on one.

4:47 I like when he says that Optimus broke Megatron's face. He basically described Optimus Prime.

I also thought the "Optimus was holding back" argument for the first film was sort of valid, but limited. The very fact that he was willing to undergo such a drastic measure to stop Megatron (committing suicide by pushing the Allspark into his own chest), both when planning and in the end of the final battle, shows you how desperate he was. Why would he choose such a drastic measure before simply fighting back harder (and still trying to be as careful as he can with the humans still in the city)?

Daniel Hong he didn’t want to take such a monumental risk if it wasn’t on a planet he was a guest on he would have but him and megatron fought together for ages before choosing their sides and stands to reason they would know each others combat techniques and prime also hasn’t been seen to have any training ever while on earth just what he got on cybertron and primes are amongst the most powerful beings on cybertron and their combat is unrivalled but they aren’t fighters at least prime doesn’t like to just resort to that Michal did him dirty in that the best representation of prime I’ve seen is from the transformers tv show transformers prime

I watched this video so many times, and I forgot about this scene in ROTF, when Sam gets blown up by Megatron, Megatron gets hit by tank rounds and as he shoots his cannon his arm cocks back so many times as he shoots. As you said with Megatrons Gun reducing recoil in the first movie and the weight with Megatrons cannon in ROTF.

I subscribed to your channel thanks to this video, which I saw as soon as it came out. I see it again because I think it's one of the best on your channel, congratulations. Speaking of the Transformers film franchise, there are many things to feel sorry for, such as its tremendous drop in quality film by film or the cancellation of the sixth movie, but the one that saddens me the most is the Megatron issue. In the first movie he was just terrifying, he was imposing and he slaughtered Optimus without difficulty. It really did feel like any Autobot that got in his way would be ripped apart (RIP Jazz), even Ratchet orders a retreat when he arrives. Yes, the franchise was looking for a new villain in each installment, but that shouldn't have stopped us from seeing the terrifying Megatron from the first movie (IMO, both Galvatron and his TF 5 form are stronger than in TF 1, what a shame we didn't get to see him that much). What a pitty

I always thought it was cause after 1, Megatron's body was slowly degrading from then on. In 2, he was dropped into the Marianas trench and rotted away. So he needed pre owned parts, which took getting used to. Megatron lost all his upgrades, his weapons, everything. All the rotting and use of pre owned parts weakened him. And in Dark of the Moon, he's missing half his face. He even has bugs eating away at it, which is a clear reference to the human skin eating condition: gangrene. He had to wear a cloak to hide and protect the open wound, and since he didn't have the allspark he couldn't repair it. So not only does he have rot, barely any original parts, now he has an infection eating away at him. Then in AOE and TLK he was repaired from the ground up. First the transformium enhancement, then Quintessa giving him a more upgraded version of his original body

Awesome theory, I love it! Although I would like to elaborate more on the part where you explain optimus losing to megatron. I can agree that optimus lost to megatron before and again, but I would like to elaborate. This is because optimus has only been in his new diesel truck body for a few day and he only discovered his uses in the body and like megatron fought for years in his 07 body. After Megatron got revived he had no experience with his new body and because of that he wasn't really good at combat.He wasn't anywhere near his TF1 performance,and the weight distribution issue made him even more vulnerable in hand to hand attacks,if megatron hadn't had his backup then he would get destroyed by Prime.

Also, don't forget that his original body from TF1 was built with some of the strongest materials and had a very sturdy exoskeleton to withstand attacks at close range since he presumably a brawler. In TF2 his minions just grabbed whatever scraps and shit they could find and cobbled him together.

1:04 Is it really safe to say though? Even in the forrest battle, Optimus is not defeated because he was an inferior fighter but because of enemy tactics and numbers. Same goes for Megatron's first death. He didn't do badly but was taken off guard. A war is not a duel between two people. So using Cybertron's fall as an argument to Optimus being weaker does not work.
