I’ve watched this multiple times and I cry every time. The acting by IU & Tae is so good. The song is beautiful - her voice is amazing

Kim Taehyung's performance was extraordinarily spectacular!! The way he transmits emotions one by one without having to speak wow! It was on another level! This being only the second time his performance left all the directors, fans and general public wanting more of him in movies and TV dramas. This MV made me cry for 3 days! I couldn't stop watching it! And at the same time it made me so emotional! Tae and IU They had great chemistry on screen and an Oscar-worthy performance 👏🎉

Must watch the “behind the scenes” by IU as well as Bangtan TV. Both are very good, informative & their chemistry is top notch. Tae & IU are very good friends.

IU acted in one of my favorite k dramas of all time, Moonlovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. She can act! Brilliant singer, wonderful career.

This music video got a boost from a Korean film director and screenwriter: 44-year-old Um Tae Hwa, who wrote and directed 2023's Concrete Utopia and directed the video. Concrete Utopia received a very limited release in the U.S. in December and sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 54 reviews. It's also a post-apocalypse story. All seven members of BTS have done a bit of acting; they appeared in short films for BTS World. Yoongi played a concert pianist; RM played a police detective; Hobi played a vet; etc. But Tae has professional acting experience: he appeared in Hwarang: Poet Warrior Youth, a period K-drama about Joseon era Hwarang warriors. ARMY has been waiting to see him act again, and since he didn't have time for a film or drama before his enlistment, his appearance in this video was a gift for ARMY. IU is a huge megastar in Korea; she has her own show called Palette, and Tae, Hobi, and Yoongi have all been recent guests. She's the same age as Yoongi and appeared as a guest on his show Suchwita. She was also the featured vocalist on "People Pt 2" from his D-Day album, and they previously collaborated on a song called "Eight;" he produced it. They're clearly good friends. You can tell from the bickering.

The cubes were getting rid of any imperfections in the human race. A perfect world. Yes she was deaf and mute and Tae was blind. The first time I watched this I cried and still do. All I could say at the end was "Wow" it's so beautiful.

The director did say viewers can have their own interpretation. The camcorder serves as a filter and allows imagination to roam freely. Everything is imagination through the camcorder. Reality resumes when you see their wounds and tattered clothes. In the end, the two of them are seen ascending to a better place through the camcorder, while they are eradicated in reality. So sad. So beautiful. So brutally real.

The cube is supposed to represent society and how it values perfection and beauty and destroys anything that does not meet that standard. IU and V represent marginalized or imperfect people who can see the beauty in them selves for a brief moment but the cube or society confuse to attack and eventually destroy. An interesting take as both IU and V are often held up to impossible beauty standards and IU has lost very close friends through suicide due to the unrelenting demands in the KPop industry. I think there are many layers of interpretation.

You are 100% incorrect. There is nothing in the lyrics or the MV itself that supports that claim. And even more importantly there is nothing in what IU , who is the Producer of the MV, has said or written about the song or video that remotely even suggest that is the case. And what people who are advancing that theory don't realize is that theory would totally change the subject and message of the MV from one of LOVE and togetherness to one of group identity politics, of victimization, of group hating eachother. Hate is never even mentioned in the video or the lryics. This is a case of some people jumping to conclusions because V is blind and IU is mute (she is not deaf as the video clearly shows) and then failing to actually watch and understand the remainer of the video and song. How many times dies IU have to use the word to before these people catch on that the message is about LOVE WINS ALL. Let's consider the video. If the video is about how Society treats people who are different. Well the video itself it appears human society is no more so what would the point of that message? And has cruel as human society can be it has never destroyed ALL the people. If it is about marginalized people where are the rest ofvthe people? IU and V appear to be the only people left in this area. And why are the cubes destroying the City, if getting rid of marginalized people is their objective? Obviously the cubes are out to destroy humanity regardless of one status or health or nondisabled condition. And the only thing humans have left is Love. Humans could abandon love and try to strike a deal with evil, but such a deal would be short lived as history has shown time and again. Hate, regardless of the reason for hate as only one purpose and that is to destroy LOVE. Love isn't a physical things so it will never destroy the physical manifestation of hate and evil. But the only thing hate and evil can do is destroy things. It can't create anything. Love Wins when humans refuse to abandon love. Making this beautiful message and turning into something ugly, and divisive is OFFENSIVE. There are disabled people who have taken your claim to heart and are upset about the MV claiming that IU and V are belittling disabled people. How? Because the fantasy scene shows then as "normal" without having disabilities. This means that those with disabilities are not normal. Now isn't that a change. The theory you claim about the MV actually is doing exactly the opposite of what you claim the MV is trying to do. IU would never make such a MV, dividing people, putting them against eachother where one is destroyed exterminated, as being the message. Everything is a prop to show the unifying love 2 people are capable of even under the worst possible conditions. Period.

These two had dueted on at least one song while on a show together. They both came up with the idea to film an MV where they both do some acting. It was apparently Tae's idea to make it a Post-Apocalyptic story.

The cube 'Nemo' represents the discrimination towards marginalized people (symbolized in IU being mute and Taehyung being blind in one eye). They stayed together till the end with their love sustained, free from all oppression and pressure from society. LOVE WINS ALL!

Clear up one constant error made about the video. IU is not deaf. She is likely mute and the video itself shows this. In the opening scene when they stop to catch their breath, IU reacts to the sound of the cube passing overhead. She reacts a looks up at it, before getting V's attention to go over there. The second case is inside the building. They are looking around and processing what they are seeing when they both react at the exact same time again the sound of the cube passing over head and they take cover. Their reaction would not happen like that if either one of them were deaf. There would be a delay in the hearing person communicating with the deaf person not only that the cube was near but where it was. This scene destroys that claim. But there is another scene that adds to the point. At the end of the wedding scene IU reacts to the presence of the cube just slightly before V. But being so close she just grabs his hand runs away. The narrative that IU is deaf comes from her use of sign language while at the table and for some reason it seems everyone goes immediately to someone being deaf. When sign language is equally a needed tool for those who are mute. The final brick in this wall is also the wedding scene where neither one of them are dealing with issues of blindness or inability to speak, and IU has a microphone in her hands demonstrating that in this world she can speak. Why is this important. Well it is important because their are a lot of claims being made about this video and what it means and some are quite offensive as they turn the song and MV from being about LOVE to one where it is about hate and prejudice and the message of Love get completed disguarded favor of group politics. I don't know how many times IU has to say the word Love for people to figure out that the message is Loce. Which is why the cube is used in the first place. The cube is cold, uncaring, lacking human emotion and the ability to Love. So what it is, what it's doing is irrelevant to the big picture. It only matters that the couple who are struggling to survive refuse to surrender to the cube. Some people have said well love didn't win in this video. That because they failed to truely understand what Love is. IU posted a letter on her company website that discussed the song and video. In the letter IU says "Love is invisible" meaning it doesn't have a physical presence. And to think that love can win against a physical evil seems ridiculous. She identifies hate has always being alone. So by remaining together in their love they have won. The cube took their physical bodies but never succeeded to destroying their love. And all of the theories that are out there that try to make the focus something other Love, have failed to actually consider the video, the song and IU's intention when making their claim. Because when you actually look at those three things EVERY other claim falls apart very quickly. Interestingly enough however IU is dealing with an ear issue for the last almost 2 years. The tube running from the inner ear to the throat (I do not know what the condition or disease is called) it can gets stuck in the open position or closed position. This is the tube that equalizes the pressure in the ear. When it gets stuck in the open position you can't hear your self and it can be one very painful. And when it won't open it can become very painful b/c the pressure in the ear can't equalize. If you were to watch IU sing live, like on her show Palette in the last year you will see that she often takes her ear piece out, either because if it messing up what she is hearing or it is bothering her in someway. Rolling Stone Magazine added IU to their list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time last January.

At first, the cube reacted to the approaching shadow formed by blocking the sun, and the second time, V reacted first. They already know that the box is on the building, they always hold hands, and it is difficult to regard the concept set by the director as an error if the sharp sense is maintained in the post-apocalyptic environment, regardless of which side responds first.

I’ve watched this video like 30times on its own and watching reactions and I’ve never seen nor has anyone mentioned the “special guest “ in the credits. That is some hard core trolling 😂. I can’t believe they did that.

Beautifully written and acted. Someone may have already mentioned, but in case they didn’t then I’ll add this. Besides Tae not being blind during their respite, IU also was able to sing on stage, which is big for somebody who’s deaf and mute.

It's sci-fi. This song is extra poignant because the camera world wasn't that great, if you look carefully. So this mv is more a commentary about the present world against a dystopian backdrop.
