Early 90's Nirvana was really 1989-1994 when they were the most popular act on the planet until they suddenly ended with Kurt committing suicide. And the lyric is ""I'm not gonna crack". The period of time from August- November 1991 was a life changing, time defining era for music. Metallica and Guns n Roses released stadium conquering supernova albums that lead hard rock and metal to the highest skylines of popularity. U2 reinvent themselves and stadium shows with "Actung Baby" and its tour. But whist those bands were already big, in the middle of all that, out of nowhere came THIS. September 1991 was when the whole music industry shifted via this band and the grunge movement. Radio, Mtv, pop culture in general changed and the 90s Really got started. Whatever music you liked- be it rock or hip hop, the early 90s were an amazing time to be a youngster! I was 12 in '91-92 and the impact Nirvana had on me has not been surpassed. That, and the movie "Terminator 2' ,also from '91, are some of the biggest influences on my life.

Nirvana was the 90's they made Grunge music. The singer & writer of the vast majority of their songs was the lead singer Kurt Cobain. His story is tragic, he suffered from severe bouts of depression & when you finally think he has it all; a successful band, wife, child, wealth... His depression often led to drug abuse. He stated many times all he wanted was to make music he wasn't expecting the insanity that comes with it. He was the voice of Generation X & Alternative music as a whole came about because of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana. Sadly, he joined Club 27 and committed suicide. Their Nevermind album was a total game changer.

I really enjoy watching the joy and shock and awe on your face when you're hearing these songs for the first time. In a way I envy you because I've heard these songs many times to this day but there's nothing quite like the first time you get blown away. I'm one of the biggest Nirvana fans ever. Kurt Cobain the lead singer was a cool guy indeed. It's crazy how so many years have passed and he's still reaching people with his music. The reason why a lot of Nirvana songs are so catchy is because Kurt had this intention to write songs like nursery rhymes. That's why a lot of Nirvana songs just stick with people.

The Man Who Sold the World is a good cover that Nirvana did tonally. Musically it's almost no different from David Bowie's original. In other words the music and tone is almost the same but the production quality is crisper because technology improved greatly between the two recordings.

This band signaled the end of the 80s era and the begining of the alternative movement. It was a period when less corporate bands were allowed to float to the top. And because of their success, the record industry was open to other genres such as hip hop. It seemed almost overnight, radio played one type of music, then switched to another.

The band got a little bigger near the end with Pat Smear as a second guitarist .But at this stage it was Kurt (vocals and guitar) , Krist (Bass) and Dave (Drums). The simplicity of the music changed the popular genre away from what bands like GnR were doing at the time ..... literally the world changed when teen spirit was realized .

Kicked the anti-establishment, anti-materialism of the grunge movement right into the laps of the hair-bands fans. It was all about doing what feels right to you, authentic and real, to the demise of the glitz and glam of the 80s. The uniform of the grunge wave was found in thrift shops and Nirvana gave us the anthems. Good times, emotional times. Soviet Union fell, Cold War ended, young people rebelled against being told how to look, how to feel, who to love, what to hate. Nirvana captured that by playing their truths and things changed forever because of what they shared with the world, all while sounding like they were still a garage band dreaming of changing the world with their music.
