the heartbreak is what made him, 2014 at wolfsburg is when the courtois and de bruyne beef began.
This shows talent doesn't just come and go, you have to do the hard work. Kdb shows the effort of a journey.❤
I don't understand how these players were unable to see de bruyne's potential back then. I guess it's not every one who plays football, really understands football. I mean, I watched chelsea's first game of the season (probably against Stoke City or something) in the 2013/14 season or so, where Mourinho played Hazard, oscar, de bruyne, and I remember thinking, this guy (de bruyne) is probably the best player on the pitch. His incisive passing, movement, vision, everything was spot on. Wondered why he wasn't playing much after. Even mourinho said that he could see his potential but just couldn't manage him because he always wanted to play.

KDB and Salah looked lost and sloppy. Not their fault...Chelsea was stacked! Serie A helped shaped Salah technical wise. Salah could get away with his speed in Basel in the Swiss league....but not in PL.. ...Serie A..Florentina and then AS Roma..and Totti mentored him to make better decisions. BL helped KDB change his attitude and mindset.

Exactly my thought. Maybe Mikel (for an amazing defensive midfielder he was) does not have an eye for talent. First time I watched de Bruyne was at Bremen against Bayern in 6:1 loss in 2012-13. He was even in that game was evidently far better than his Werder teammates and on level with the Bayern players. Bremen were thrashed but de Bruyne scored his goal on his own. Of course, I don't watch Premier League so I can't say how good he was at Chelsea but if he was at the similar level to Bayern's treble winning squad of 2012-13 season which thrashed Barca 7:0, I can't believe Mikel couldn't see his talent.

Ugh don't claim to be this super scout. John Terry and Jose, who have forgotten more than you will ever know about football, were surprised by his evolution. KDB becoming the player he became doesn't mean Jose and Terry were wrong. He WASN'T good enough to be picked ahead of guys like Lampard AT THE TIME. KDB obviously worked hard to become the player he is now.
Goes to show that nobody really can tell you who you meant to be and if you destined to make it you will despite your surrounding. Thats in a aspects of competition not just football
Totally understand that moodiness he’s talking about especially when you know they’re not going to play you. There’s no zeal and especially when you’re in a team where you’re not happy to be in.
Mikel it's not that De Bruyne wasn't performing it's just that he wasn't playing in a correct system suited to his game.Chelsea was never a possession based team.
sometimes people forget that if you're on the big club then you're expected to perform consistently week in week out or else you won't there long enough because they're on WIN NOW mode .. off course miss out caliber player like Salah or KDB are are huge loss but back then we never know they could be this great either and if they stay on Chelsea they probably wouldn't become the player they are right now. because the playing time are most important if you're young talented player to polish your skill and at that time chelsea can't give that.
John Terry said he was most surprising by KDB in later years, compared to Salah and Lukaku. He obviously worked his balls off to improve as much as he did.
That is called “Confidence” my friend! As soon as went to Wolfsburg, he felt “Wanted” and when you feel “wanted” then you can let your hair down and be yourself…. At Chelsea so young, he wasn’t ready … it’s as simple as that
Very true. Mikel just said it all. Nobody expected DeBruyne to be what he is now
I think players have more freedom to play how they want to in Germany and that's how they become the skilled talents that other countries' clubs sign them for
It started in Bremen and not Wolfsburg. Dortmund wanted to buy him after his loan season in Bremen.
Best midfield now
Well kdb either like it or not but is a fact Mourinho gave him a lesson. No matter how good you are but if you not doing your best you are nothing. , because everyone want to play and its not fair to everybody in the team when you make someone because of your liking but did not perform well. Its about mentality. Later Mou himself said he know the potential of kdb and do not want him to go but to be patience try harder wait for his chance. Kdb can not accept that and want to leave so mou let him go... And kdb on wolfsburg change a lot the way he is playing - attitude also the eager to prove something.. So it is what it is... Thx u
@4evermarx
4 ай бұрын
I remember kdb talking about not getting chance at chelsea. KDB explained that chelsea thought he was still too young but KDB didnt buy that because Hazard was the same age and crucial part of the team. Really sad he didnt fit in or had some patientce but kudos to him whatever his attitude was at chelsea, he really improved that in wolfsburg.
Sometimes rejection and disappointment shapes you into a more determined player. It's not a certainty that Salah or De Bruyne would have been stars at Chelsea if they had stayed.
KDB has always shown his talent. Even at Chelsea it was so difficult not to notice him. Raw rash but talented nonetheless.
Kdb not ready at young. He not calm enough for the pressure. German league teach him how to boost their talent. So powerful.
@isahibrahim7414

Chelsea was never the place for a young player trying to come up, they have always preferred already established players to developing ones, the pressure is immense
John Mikel is so so good at this as much as he was with his football
players like de bruyne and salah nobody thought they would blow up like they did especially salah nobody had big expectations for them
Anyone who claims they were sure back then that KDB would turn out as great as he did is an outright liar
I’ll never understand people that cannot fathom how players get fed up of not playing and in thrir oen position. It’s like corporate gas lighting where they just tell the player some shit about it being better for their development and their career goes sideways. The success of the team doesn’t matter if you aren’t in it.
There's an interview with harry redknapp where he talks about the time he took over at QPR and was told that taarabt is rubbish, and how playing him would get the manager sacked! Redknapp went to him and told taarabt that he would be starting the upcoming game! He also told him that if he played badly, he would still start him the next game! And if he played badly in that game, he would still start him in the game after! Moral of the story is, de bruyne needed the tranquility and serenity of mind knowing the manager believed in him, and that he wouldn't be dropped every time he had a bad game! He was moody and was desperate to leave because he knew mourinho wasn't that manager for him, and that he had to go elsewhere to find freedom to express himself!

Mourinho has shown at every football club that he doesn't possess the skills to develop young players. He 'succeeds' only by being given developed players. At Roma, he practically ruined zaniolo, and there isn't a single player who truly improved under him. One can point towards cristante who is having a great season, but he was terrific before he moved to Roma. He turned paredes into a water carrying bully who just going around kicking people. Literally every single player has improved since he left. De Bruyne isn't the only victim. @@diligenceeke3023
Was perfect replacement for Lmpard
Have a feeling Mudryk could be the same. Right now he doesn’t even look like a premier league winger. Time will tell if he comes good, and if Chelsea supporters will be patient for him to achieve his potential.
Some players need to feel appreciated! Some players need to feel they're not walking on a plank! You cant send a young kid out there and judge him based on one performance, when the thinking is that if he doesn't perform, then he's out! It cant work like that! De bruyne Must've known that and hence being desperate to leave!

Better than everyone who wore a Chelsea Jersey? Were you born yesterday? My blood boils when I read comments like yours. Greater players have played for Chelsea. De Bruyne plays for Belgium why didn't he perform those wonders for them at the world cup? My point is that Man City and Guardiola are the biggest reasons for his extraordinary success. It's not down to him alone. For example: Ronaldo left Man U and went to Madrid and performed even better. Messi for all his greatness went to PSG and dropped levels. It simply means Barcelona somehow helpd Messi.

Sometimes, being in a team where you can fully enjoy and express yourself without fear of losing your place if you mess up one game, it helps a player develop.
