she's spot on about midlevels. The DNP is such a conflated degree, a money grab, and a way to call yourself a nurse doctor. So many NPs coming out have barely any clinical time as a nurse and do much of their training at online schools that have a low barrier to entry. Full disclosure, I am getting my psych NP at a normal university with in-person classes. I will be doing double the clinical hours required by the program because, let's be honest, the NP clinical hour requirement is lacking. And most importantly, I know my limits, realize my role should be that as an extender to facilitate the workflow of the psychiatrist, and most definitely want to work with physician oversight. The most dangerous NP is one that thinks they know everything and doesn't know when they're over their head. If you want to be a physician and get called a doctor, go to medical school.

This was so educational for a 2nd year medical student like myself considering the nuances, pros/ cons, and current political landscape surrounding Family Medicine. Thank you so much for your honesty, explanations and ethical guidance Dr. Hakimi. Very much appreciate it and was looking forward to a video from an FM physician such as yourself. Thank you for taking the time to educate and guide the new generation of medical students. Have seriously been considering FM and needed to hear more about it.

Thanks for the response. I'm glad Dr. Hakimi insightful responses are helpful. My goal is to touch upon subjects that students should understand if they are to pursue a certain specialty.

So awesome; I am torn b/w Neuro and FM and IM . I have been an IM physician ; loved it, Love Neuro too; FM might have a low barrier to entry as me as IMG old grad , below avg scores. and still be able to be a hospitalist/ Primary care.

The paths to CC via FM is tougher than IM although if you're very interested, may try to reach out to CC directors if they take hospitalists experiences.
