I love the Matchmaker series. I struggle with finding suitable but not boring complimentary fabrics when I find a strong patterned fabric. This gives me ideas to go outside my comfort zone.

I love these row quilt patterns. Have made Checkmate many times. Love how it showcases the focal fabric plus the checkerboard row is cute! Love the Simplicity ladies- certainly brings back memories of sewing my clothes years ago!! Nice job matching fabrics!!

These are my favorite Fabric Cafe videos. It's unfortunate there isn't more space between the rows of ladies - would be nice to not have to cut them. What cool fabric. Polar bears are my fav - they are terrific with the CocaCola fabric!

I have used these row patterns many times with border prints that run along the selvage instead of across the width of the fabric. I just buy a 1 1/4 yard instead of 1 yard of fabric and it always works out perfectly. Sometimes I have to adjust the width of the unpieced row by an inch or two to accommodate the design, but the quilts always work out fine. Love your patterns. I have 18 of your books and they are helping me use up some of my 42 year stash!

Wow Fran, you are one talented lady! I was looking at the last two swatches and thinking I wouldn't even pick up either of those two fabrics because they just looked too hard to even think about in a pattern. When you first spoke about the polar bears, I'm sorry, but I thought you had missed slightly. Then I saw the mock up, and I went to "I need to make that exact quilt", wow. I can't believe I want to make such a quilt, but it was beautiful. Just to further expland Fran's talent: that polka dot in the last pattern (vintage fashion ladies), I think (emphasise on think) might be from Studio E, All Big Things Start Small. It is a collection of baby African Animals, (it broke my resolution to reduce my fabric purchases this year). There is nothing that looks remotely like the fashion ladies (in either the swatch quilt, or the 'everyone else' quilt). Wow Fran, your ability to make gorgeous fabric, and pattern, matches into desirable quilts always amaze me.
