Cedar Point's kept their coaster count pretty stable since adding Maverick in 2007. The 4 new coasters added since (5 if you count TT2 as a new credit) replaced 4 coasters that were closed in those years. GateKeeper, Valravn, Steel Vengeance, and Wild Mouse opened; Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Mean Streak, (Dragster), and Wicked Twister closed. Apart from the former dorm area by the marina, virtually any spot for a new coaster will require removing an existing one. I'd expect Corkscrew and CCMR to get the axe over the next decade, but that's about it. Maintaining their count and gradually modernizing their lineup will be much more important than trying to shatter records.

CP needs a proper woodie. Tear down Cedar Creek and add a GCI over the water there.

As a coaster junkie with CP being my home park, I think your pretty spot on. I will say our best chance at another coaster is with them moving H&R off location, that could free up room for one there. IF they do not add one there, I do not see CP getting another coaster until its time to replace the now aging coasters. Pretty much any Arrow coaster left that isn't magnum or iron dragon is on its last head of steam. Gemini is a fan favorite but its been having issues and running one train a lot the last two season. The fact that they are not fixing the issue tells me they are letting it live out its last years while the prep to replace it. Once they start taking classics out, there are a bunch of cool ideas of new types of coasters that the park could use, GCI woody like Mystic Timbers would be my top choice. But I really think until then we will see more projects like they started last years. Refreshing new areas of the park to different themed zones, and some much needed fresh flatrides. I am not a huge flat ride fan, but when you working so closely with Zamperla, I feel like its a lost opportunity to not add some of their flats, and CP could use some updated flats.

Hotel Breakers and the cabins aren't going anywhere. CP charges a premium for staying by the dry park, CP Shores, AND the Lake Erie coast. The combined Cedar Fair / Six Flags will absolutely need that revenue. Moving the camper hookups and rec area offsite is also unlikely as there's a KOA campground between Castaway Bay and the CP Sports Center. They'd have to be willing to buy that offsite campground, maybe do some renovations, and then close Camper Village. If they did that, in theory, it would open up a massive space between Steel Vengeance and Gemini, should they decide to rebuild that massive shed inside SV. But it's a question of how many guests paying for those cabins will want an exacoaster roaring past them at midnight on a Saturday. My guess is that if Cedar Point would ever add a 500+ foot coaster, it'd replace Magnum. It's not something that requires restructuring H&R and maintenance to pull off.

But yeah, I doubt Gemini's going to be around for its 60th anniversary, or even its 55th. It'd be the perfect place to add a launch Vekoma flyer. I'd expect a new woodie to replace CCMR and extend onto the former Shoot the Rapids site.

I really agree with most of your points and you said I lot I have wanted to say for years! I will argue that the park has been working on building itself as a destination since the mid 2010s, with things like Forbidden Frontier. The park has always done good imo at being a well rounded park, with the beach and some world class live E. Good points overall, keep up the good work!

At first when I saw the title I was pretty confused but after watching the video I agree with all of your points. It makes a lot of sense the direction they are going in. Good video!

3:27 it is the opposite of landlocked. landlocked means surrounded by land, it is the least landlocked park of all time.

@RCETown Look it up. The definition of landlocked is "surrounded entirely by land." It usually refers to countries that have no ocean coastlines. And you said "glossed over" a couple times when you probably meant "polished up." Never hurts to proofread the script one more time before recording! :)

Idk if anyone realizes... but the back of the park still has atleast 1/4 miles of land that isn't even used, they could literally get rid of what's back there that's unused and useless and add that as an extension to the park...

Also, I think you meant to say *"polish up"* instead of *"gloss over."* Cedar Point didn't neglect or ignore anything by adding Grand Pavilion! :)

it would be crazy (not practical) if cp added theming to rides like millennium and the B&Ms. i would really appreciate it but i don’t see how it could be marketable. maybe if magnum gets retraked then they could add to the queue( like first roller coaster in space?)

Themeing does not have to be on ride to be good. Look at port adventura they are a a perfect example of what you can do with a little extra effort. It’s a beautiful park with good queue lines, good stations, and amazing food. That’s what cedar point is trying to become. Millenium force already does Theming better than other rides because of its iconic location and amazing station soundtrack. That’s what I’m looking for with this video.

Their food is getting better, back in the day a hamburger was basically a hockey puck

How can you say that any park "needs" a T-Rex when RMC still doesn't have a customer for it? And CP's crowds would swamp a single rail, so that's a non-starter. But yeah, a GCI would be fantastic there.

I want cp to get a record-breaking mack spinner. I don't go to cp for family rides. If you after family rides go to Disney and wait an hr to ride the teacups. Then pay 25 dollars for a cold burger and fries. Cp is a thrill park. I live in Florida and am an hr away from Universal and 2.5 hrs away from busch gardens. Love my home parks but they don't hold a candle to CP. I make a pilgrimage to CP every yr because they have the best coaster lineup in the world. I hope they will do what they have always done best and keep building world class coasters.

The problem with that is the best spot for a Mack XSC is currently filled by Rougarou. (The Gemini site would be more ideal for a new Vekoma flyer) And Rougarou is a reliable people eater with a solid 15-ish years of service life left. So any coasters added in the near term would replace Corkscrew and CCMR. Could see a Vekoma Tilt get squeezed into the Corkscrew plot, but they don't need another spinning coaster urgently with Wild Mouse rivaling a Reverchon.

I highly doubt it because coaster enthusiasts make up >1% of all theme park goers anyways. If everyone in this community came to the same conclusion it wouldn't mean anything. It only matters what the general public thinks. All these hybrid supplements are basically wood coasters in their eyes, so yes it's a dying breed.

They should RMC steel vengeance that rode is getting INSANELY ROUGH

I'd argue that they need more coasters not because they have a gap in their lineup, I don't think Cedar fair is thinking about getting the best of the best all of the time, the reason roller coasters exist for the most part is marketing and business. IDK if this is completely true thats just what I think.

Well, their median coaster opening date (including TT2) is 5/11/1996 - when Rougarou opened as Mantis. That's actually the 3rd oldest median opening date of the combined Six Flags & Cedar Fair parks. So they will add new coasters, but mostly to replace their oldest ones. And I wouldn't be surprised if Blue Streak gets the Gravity Group EPT treatment and Iron Dragon gets Vekoma trains.

I can see corkscrew. Mine ride, and Gemini being replaced eventually. They also have an enormous parking lot taking up a lot of space. They could start off-site parking and shuttle people in to free up that area. More coasters are the big draw. If I want a food court I would go to my local mall where I don’t have to pay $100 to get in and then overpay for food.
