Well they don't want Superboy to be the Superman of the Young Justice group who could just arrive at the battle scene and end the fight in 2 seconds. They're trying to make every character in Young Justice equally relevant and not have an OP plot device to get them out of a though spot every time, aka Superman. And I'm pretty sure they don't wanna just start throwing kryptonite everywhere just to justify Superboy not performing as well.

MrBluePants granted Kryptonite barely affects him due to his half human genetics I’d much rather him develop his krypotinian abilities at a medium rate or even leave the the young justice league temporarily to go train somewhere close to the sun or a planet that are familiar to kyrptonians and know how to train them

in regard to having full kryptonian powers, it snot all about having power X, but also the extent of the powers he has. he's super strong sure and is probably physically the strongest member of YJ...but he's pathetically weak compared to basically any kryptonian ever. and i doubt he's"invulnerable" probably just bullet proof. so if he were to begin developing full kryptonian powers, even slowly overtime...he'd grow to be much stronger and more durable. actually saying that just made me realize...connor in the show is basically 1938 superman :D. if he isnt in a vehicle he typically leaps, he has super strength but nothing on the levels we see out of the likes of superman currently. bullet proof but can be hurt by things stronger than high caliber bullets...actually the vision powers he has might make him MORE powerful than old school supes XD

Kid Powers He should get most of Kryptonian powers by season 3, in the comics his powers developed very slowly but he can have all of the powers of a full Kryptonian, just not as powerful and it takes him longer to recharge his powers.

I'm actually glad he was never allowed to fly on his own. It just made him work harder for what he want which could resonate with the audience. Hopefully he learned how to use super breath and somewhat the ability to fly(Reference to Smallville where Clark glides in the barn...)

It also represents his feeling that he is not like anyone else, not even the alien that is Superman. YJ Superboy is representative of him having and struggling with his own identity outside of being a Superman clone. I think it's why his costume is so different from Clark's, and why his powers are so lacking.

Nah it’s just an excuse for the writer to depower the mess out of a character that they clearly had no idea how to write

I feel like writing a fully powered Superboy is very difficult. It already seems like they have enough trouble writing in Captain Marvel like they're unsure of what he should do in a fight.

You are so right! I think that might be my #1 "WTH did you do that!" beef with Young Justice. Conner is like my favorite YJ member because of how messed up his beginnings were and all he had to overcome. But then they added insult injury by making him so weak, compared to all his comic book versions. I'm so hoping they fix this by letting him develop new powers in the up coming Season 3. At least give him TK (cuz as you showed, he can do a lot with it) or flight.

I could have sworn Superboy developed the ability to fly in one of those cadmus clone episodes

I think they didn’t give Superboy tactile tk is because they gave Miss Martian full telekinesis. It would be redundant. That being said, Conner needs to fly. As for a powerful version of an adult Conner check up the black zero version of him in his original series. His TK was so powerful he could stop the world from spinning if he willed it.

That broke my heart when I saw the look on Superboy's face when he realized he couldn't fly. 🙁

It makes sense his powers aren’t fully unlock because maybe he has to get older to unlock them since he’s five to eight by now

i really loved the telekinetic disassembly 'coz he can use it to scatter anything into sub-atomic levels, and if they are taking the series to darker tones, his real powers would be like the jon lane kent of the new 52 comics (not the 10/11 year old partner of damian wayne), or someone who is capable of completely sealing off or awakening a metahuman's powers at will. Perhaps that would be a great storyline with the cadmus guys.

yeah i too find it rather strange in why he can Fly in the Comics but not the Show. and what i want to see next is How the Young justice Speedsters were able to Run WITHOUT the Speedforce.

Giving him ALL the powers might be pushing it but flight is like a staple for Krytonians. They could AL fly without any form of practice once they got to earth. And some did it immediately. Zod was able to just do Krytonian things with no rehersal. So giving conner flight at the very least shouldn't really overpower him as he's still considered the team's muscle.

if they give Superboy his Kryptonian super powers they could have a father son episode in young justice where Superman comes to terms that Superboy is basically his son and teaches him how to control his powers

I agree with the absorbing solar energy over time to get full powers. In YJ season 1 episode 2 when kid flash , Robin and aqualad were going to free superboy . They mention something about a solar suit . I think cadmus was going to make the solar suit to maybe speed up superboys solar energy absorbsion to unlock his full powers or to use the suit as a solar battery

I think superboy has a mental block because of his half human dna,he may develop those missing abilities slowly kinda like clark kent in smallville

That Grodd scene was great... added a memorable moment to what was otherwise a pretty forgettable fight.

they should at least give him his tactile telekinesis in the show since it was the first ability he learned in comics, with it he can generate force fields that can protect him and others from attacks especially against magic and kryptonite, he also can use it to fly and knock people away with it, in the new 52 the guy becomes a beast in using this ability even being able to unlock his heat vision and freeze breath by using his telekinetic abilities, his even been able to learn the origin and weaknes of something through using an ability called telekinetic touch which he used in the new 52, his also been able to shoot lasers out of his hand using this ability and has set a tree on fire with a thought in post crisis so even with just his tactile telekinesis his still a beast, if they don't give him his other kryptonian abilities in season 3 they should just add his tactile telekinesis to his power set

The show has halved his powers and made him an amalgamation of captain america and Luke cage with some extra sensory powers. In the comics and in the show; he is not as strong as superman or super girl, but he has a wide variety of powers in his arsenal. These include his trademark tactile telekinesis which he used for mimicking some of the kryptonian powers including flight, some telepathic skills such as tactile learning (which is the same mutant power that prodigy from marvel once had), memory manipulation, mental resistance, force fields, psionic blasts, telekinetic disassembly while his new 52 counterpart's original has invisibility/light refraction and power absorption. Overall, they did not just stripped him off some of his powers but rather they only granted him with the physical enhancements and all of superman's weaknesses. By the end of season 2 I expected to see at least his full arsenal of kryptonian powers or his telekinetic powers. It was like they don't want to explore what the guy can do and his character has calmed only a little bit and no development to it. Although he behaves a little mature, he still remains the same like season 1. All was done for the sake of him being a team player. But on the other hand, they let miss martian utilise every single ability in her disposal.

I believe Superman was a Teen when he developed his flight powers and many of his other abilities and in YJ Superboy has a teen body but is 7 years old and absorbs sun radiation at the same rate as Superman or maybe even slower. That would mean Superboy would probably have to be 15-20 years old to gain another ability such as flight. I also never really understood this but I’m the first episode of YJ they made it seem like those alien dudes were slowly giving him powers and they even said that he will be fully ready in a few weeks so I never understood that when Cadmus became their ally later they wouldn’t just finish the process because it seemed like Guardian and those aliens were pretty tight with Superboy

He does look more tanned in the trailer for season 3 maybe more solar radiation could be the key to unlocking more powers?

It would be cool if he slowly gains it overtime along with his hybrid abilities. Plus I want him and Miss Martian to end up having a hybrid child they didn't expect to happen. And they finally need to bring Wally West back from the speed force to save Artemis from dying with him reentering saying "hey beautiful"

I think a great way of having Supes develop his powers would be to have him start using the Super Shields again for a short amount of time (like its an emergency and M'Gann is gonna die type shit). Anyway after this they could say that the Super Shields had a permanent effect on his body, granting him full Kryptonian powers but also driving him a tad bit insane. M'Gann can help him with his psychological issues and set up mental blocks in order to help Conner better control his powers.

In the young justice Sb slightly showcased his Smart side(Lex's Genes) I kinda hoped for more

Forget flight the writers need to help superboy some respect. Two things 1. Remove the Kryptonite weakness. If super man goes evil kryptonite can hurt both superman and superboy. 2. Give superboy the power to jump long distances. Just some suggestions.

Superboy's diminished powers relative to Superman makes no sense as The Light through Cadmus literally built him to be a Superman deterrent. How did they expect him to hold his own against the man of steel if he's only sub-par?

In his TTK powers, he has a special move called tactile telekinetic disassemble which allows him to apply his powers into an object to explode or disassemble it. Also the new 52 versions before super son Jon, have other powers such as memory manipulation power absorption, invisibility and a form of telekinetic learning sense which allows him to learn about anything by touch and the evil new 52 super boy can touch a building and see everything within it, like a psychic video game like map where you can see hostile and other elements. With these addition, he could be stronger than superman. I mean come on, in the blackest night superman comics he literally blew up zombie earth 2 superman with his disassembly powers. Maybe that's why the light is afraid of him. Because he has the potential to unlock all of these abilities along his Kryptonian powers could make him an overpowered character.

well, if the show fallow the Smallville logic a blood transfusion from Clark should give him bigger access to his powers, maybe even full access.

The only way it to work within the continuity as if something happened that forced him to actually start to age. Because currently that Superboy stuck at 16 basically physically stuck at puberty nearing its tail end. So something would need to happen to make him mature past the teenage part of his life cycle and into a full adult physically. maybe something that requires him to have whatever's on those patches be injected into him to the point of nearly od'ing on them.

The argument that Superboy or Superman is too powerful that the rest of their fellow teammates would be unnecessary is practically the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Which of their enemies know how to take a Kryptonian down? That's right. Every single one of them. Let's not exaggerate a Kryptonian's usefulness here, shall we? Even the weakest human can easily take Superman down or out with Kryptonite. That does not even include his other weaknesses like red sun radiation and magic.

Kon is one of my favourite characters ever, and the young justice version really hurt me.

match is the older more Kryptonian clone, but even match can't be 100 percent Krytonian as he would be a Besaro.

i feel that the writers should at least put in the TK powers for superboy so that he could at least show some growth in the seasons.

I suspect that the reason why the Young Justice Superboy does not have his full range of Kyptonian powers is that it has long since been established that Superman's powers are rooted in the energy he constantly absorbs from Earth's yellow sun. For the sake of argument , let's say Superman has been on Earth, constanly absorbing solar rays for 35 years. At the time of his first appearance, Superboy only had the abilities that his half Kyptionian heritage would have given him, super strength being one of them because of the difference between Krypton's mass when compared to Earth's, Because of Krypton's higher gravity, they evolved to have greater strength to simply stand upright., As Superboy ages an is exposed to yellow sunlight, he will gain the abilities that Superman has as a result of being exposed to sunlight for 35 years.

It would be awesome if he does develop telekinesis.

It's even worse when in the comics, Jon Kent (who's half Lois Lane and still a kid) can fly

I prefer the 90's version of superboy, even if he has half kryptonian dna, and human dna. Tactical telekinesis... YES! I like the new 52 version of superboy, his look, and his abilities. I like the 90's look too, except the belts, and straps on his suit. I definitely like the look of superboy in the reign of the supermen movie.

They should have him kidnapped in season 3 by some villains who bring out his ability for tactile telekinesis. Eventually the team saves him and then he spends his off time learning to control these "new" abilities.
