15 hours of school which doesn't guarantee admission into universities . Countless assignment which don't guarantee a job . Hours and hours of overtime and you still can't buy a home ... Wow that's depressing

I think this mostly happens here in India where the people are many and job opportunities are less. In terms of studying we have to give it our all without being sure of the results, especially in this situation where many of us has wasted some time

@@melosasengupta5068 actually you are somehow right and somewhat wrong.....becoz we need to have more people in workforce like we have less judges per 1000 ppl, less doctors per 100 ppl, less police per 100 ppl, less teachers/professor per student ratio and all.....so actually we need more which will balance ratio of working and ageing thing...but we dont know how we can do this...and unskilled factor is also responsible....in education system we taught to be ratta totta not skilled person

For me as an adult and mom of two girls, BTS' music has not only been relatable but, also been eye opening and made impact. Their early music was one that took you on the journey through youth. You saw the world through a young persons eyes and mind. While they are of a different culture than me (I'm a proud multi racial American) it gave comfort to me as an adult. Society and financial play major parts in why young adults don't want to get married and have kids. The cost of living is something now that is unattainable for the average person. Society places pressure that you must be married and you must have kids. So yeah, BTS made major impact with their early music, you see that the youth while they still valued the lessons growing up they didn't want to fit the box society wanted to put them in. Then came their music about love and the struggles of finding yourself. I can say their music has played a role in my adulthood and motherhood.

My mom discovered BTS thanks to me and she cries whenever she listens to N.O., saying she didnt know we had had it so hard at school. She also reflected on the things she told me when I was a student.

The not so surprising fact is... this socio economic problem in Korea, also exists worldwide. That's why BTS has worldwide fans. The world can relate.

Hmm, not really, in America they face something called the 'student loan trap' where students are accepted in colleges but have to pay back the fees when they get a job. I am guessing you are from Spain (because of your name i am just assuming) and Spain actually has one of the best educational systems for the youth in Europe and i heard many students in the latin world go there for education, correct me if am wrong.

Classism is a problem we've yet to really address the world over. It's also the core of pretty much every other issue such as race, gender, nationality etc. The ability to feel like you're secure in resources you need to survive and thrive can't be understated and the fact that some people don't have thriving capability and a great deal don't even have surviving capability explains a heck of a lot why the world is the way it is. It also however proves that most people are kind caring and compassionate, because even with so many starving or feeling inadequate, having sub par low quality lives, we aren't actually living in a post apocalypse where everyone hates each other and fears their neighbor. We all still strive for love, compassion, protection and understanding, despite the fact that so many people die and suffer from lack of resource access in either a survival way or thriving way.

I dont think there is a BTS album that doesnt has a relatable subject or topic. They are great writers, and really diverse like they can write about everything

PREDEBUT COVERS? HYYH2 my first cb but i love to see BTS evolving. i stop caring about those comments. They said the same thing when HYYH dropped. This is similar for every artist who dare to experiment with their music. I don't like Kanye West as a person but he is a great artist and people say the same about him.

I'm a second-gen kpopper, so when BTS debuted, I noticed them immediately. The music industry is always saturated with love songs and wot not, so hearing a new message felt really refreshing at the time. I knew from then they were gonna be big, and I turned out to b correct. Whether I pointed out the obvious or not, I feel like the flippn oracle.

bts’ lyricism is really something else. i always recommend to new armys or people who are just genuinely interested in them to read their lyrics as it is a crucial part of their discography. i believe that a lot of their songs relate to people on a deep level which is why they have so many fans connected to their music. the way they convey messages through their songs just amazes me.

Although, our last president & administration were trying & DID make things better, this president & his admin have basically flushed our country down the proverbial toilet. So can we recover as a country? If so, how? I think so! By electing statesmen & women, not politicians. Can't just listen to their rhetoric. Check out online their voting record or things they support. That info will tell us a LOT.

Same problem in my country of Malaysia. We elected a new government who couldn't hold its coalition to last an entire term. We literally did not have a Prime Minister or government when Covid hit our country. The backdoor government formed was a huge failure in containing the disease and keeping our people whole during the numerous failure of lockdowns. We protested against the Prime Minister where he had to step down only to get the same jokers back in government. For us it's not just the politicians who don't listen. The heads of executive bodies are also authoritarian who lick the boots of those in power and the voices of the people only fall on deaf ears

The early BTS is GOLD standard. Their musicality, sense of the times they were in and their supreme ability to translate all of that into heartfelt lyrics and music remains unmatched and not just in mainstream Korean music. Full credit to the entire label . Good one this👌🏼

Yes, having children in this economic hell hole is one of the most difficult things to do. I myself have two little girls, I was married but, it ended. I will say that without the financial support and major emotional support of my mother and brother, myself and my two girls would not be where we are. I had to move in with my mom and honestly it's the best thing. At first I felt like a bad mother, not being able to have a home for my children, but that's because society put in my mind that if I didn't I was a bad mother. Reality for me is, it's beneficial for my mom, myself, and my girls (my mom told me this today after she watched this video). She told me living with her that it's preserving both our financial situations, she told me I'm helping her financially while also bringing up my financial situation. I know a major part of millennials don't have supportive family so that also plays a big role too. This economy is a big mess. It's where the rich get richer and keep getting richer, the middle class become poor, and the poor become poorer. Society when it comes to financial is the worst to listen to when it's not supportive and just a bunch of pressure. I'm probably not making sense, 😂 sorry if I'm talking too much. I'll stop here.

I'm a boomer living in the UK, and consider myself very lucky. But BTS' early songs ALWAYS resonated with me - as a child of a protest generation, we were doing similar things to try to make our society fairer. There was some success, much now eroded, and looking like we will lose more. The early songs were very revolutionary, I expect especially so for Korean society. The eras that followed have never lost that drive, though there have been some shifts. Ironically, the message of Love Yourself Speak Yourself are in fact the most thoroughly and fundamentally revolutionary of all. When people comprehensively love themselves they cannot easily be controlled, when they speak their truth they cannot be discounted and lies become powerless. This can affect every strata of society, from personal relationships to politics, and need not be noisy or brash. This is true revolutionary talk and if it can live in us, should frighten the powerful to their boots. Do I think BTS knew this is in their message? I'm very sure they knew exactly what they were saying and I'm certain they will have more to add.

Yeah, the political aspect of “Love Yourself“ seems kinda underrated to me. If people feel inadequate they are much more likely to be exploited - either as workers who believe they don’t deserve better or as costumers who feel like they need certain (overpriced) products or services to be “attractive“.

@@nehalilisays I so agree with you. I don’t have the best of words but this year I am applying for uni. A lot of people underestimate themselves with what they can do and where they can go. Some people have a chance to go to these big uni but they would never do it because they don’t think they are good enough. Surprisingly the school likes to put you down and label you into something. The whole level system I find terrible. The people put in a low level become discouraged and they tend to stay their because they don’t think they can do any better. I know it’s helpful in some ways but how is anyone going to strive for anything more if they are with the same people

It's so true that their lyrics are just bomb and damm relatable, not only for the Korean youth but the whole of Asia and even abroad Always makes me go back to the past albums every now and then

exactly. hell i'm 40 and i know the pains of my parents' generation whining about "lazy millennials" who don't want to "work hard" to succeed, meanwhile boomers are buying up all the houses and wondering why nobody's renting from them for $2500 a month, all while scoffing at the idea of raising the minimum wage to a mere $15/hr. boomers want millennials to spend millions of dollars to make the boomers even richer but where is anyone supposed to get that money when boomers don't want to pay any wages?

That's why BTS became so famous, their music and message transcends language. Years ago, those lyrics of old BTS really resonated with me, as a student, becoming adult their new songs and messages still resonated with me. Their discography is a journey and I always find myself in it.

not gonna lie, as someone who got into BTS in 2017, songs like dynamite & butter are convenient for being able to easily sing along but there's no SUBSTANCE to the lyrics. it's become embarrassing to be ARMY because instead of getting to rep hard-hitting songs like dope & baepsae, the only BTS songs the gp knows are "bippity boppity let's dance all night long!" there's a reason i never got into any of the boy bands of the 97-early 00's era. i don't need feel-good pablum just because there's a pandemic - if anything, i want to hear some RAGE about the pandemic, i want to hear them calling out people being selfish and stupid about vaccines and public health and the assholes who don't care how many kids die from this so long as they don't have to wear a goddamn paper mask, i want to hear them rail against people who get swallowed up in social media disinformation to the detriment of democracy itself. i want to hear them say something MEANINGFUL. "i wanna dance to this funky groove" is not meaningful.

@@dietotaku because Dynamite, Butter, and PTD were not meant to be proper comebacks. They were BTS didn't even write or produce any of the 3 English songs, with the exception of Butter - RM wrote some of the lyrics. Their only goal with these songs was to help those going through a hard time, which was why they were in English - they could reach a bigger audience with that message this way. P.S.: just because these songs weren't meaningful to you does not mean they were not meaningful to everyone. Also, the reason you likely won't hear BTS sing about people being fools about masks and vaccines is because the people of South Korea are not being like this. Wearing masks when sick has been part of Korean (and Japanese, Chinese, etc.) culture for a while, and afaik they're not seeing much vaccine hesitancy there either. Besides, they have released several meaningful songs in BE album (released in 2020, after Dynamite) - Life Goes On and Dis-Ease. They have many meaningful songs in the album immediately preceding Dynamite, Map of the Soul: 7. It was chock-full of heavier songs like Intro: Persona, Black Swan, Interlude: Shadow, etc.

@@dietotaku The whole album BE was such a relatable and meaningful album about the pandemic life. Blue and Grey, disease, fly to my room, life goes on were all amazing. Even if it wasn't hard hitting, it was comforting and for me that's more important that criticising at a time where people are not just gonna understand. I don't get how many act like BE doesn't exist! Even if the GP doesn't know about that album it doesn't matter as long as the fans get to hear it, idk if you have heard it. If you haven't please do asap and if you have and you still don't acknowledge it, then it's okay you're entitled to have that opinion. Also, I understand your criticism for Dynamite and Butter, but only because it didn't appeal to you doesn't mean it didn't to anyone else. For someone who wasn't a big fan of that song, it brought me joy when I needed it, when all the other hard hitting ones didn't help me in that state of mind.

BTS is thriving.. and they are growing and all the music they have been doing is relatable... BE is the album that comfort me and my Husband this pandemic. Butter and PTD is our Happy Song is this time that people are feeling so Hopeless.. That is why they are different from other performers and artist... they connect to people.. i am 43 & my husband is 48 yo but we love BTS and a proud ARMY..

This was so well done. It needs to be aired on Korean television so the Boomer generation can start to understand and hopefully relate. (Edit: and so politicians can understand too. Their TikToks are so embarrassing that I thought they were clips from movies, at first.)

I’m a millennial in America and it’s so hard to keep hope going that one day I’ll be married and have at least one child. The prices keep rising on food, rent, etc. and my hope gets smaller. It shouldn’t be so difficult to live life.

pesonally, bts music always hit me hard. bts said that they make music which relate to their perspective and stories based on that time. since im averagely at same age with them, i feel growing up with them. i must say that their music in early debut was aggresive and now is more poetic but they never leave their uniqueness in writing music, always powerful both in production, performance, and messages. and i appreciate that a lot

Please DKDKTV... PLEASE keep doing more of this kind of videos. It is so relatable for us millennials all over the world. I am Bolivian and even though our reality is not exactly like Korea's, it's not so far away either. I really feel deceived by boomers who told me that working hard would pay off. There's so few jobs that success depends on knowing the right people in positions of power, not on hard work.

I’m 22 and I’ve been a fan of bts since their pre debut days. I’ve always related to their music because of how my city in Canada works. There’s different levels in high school (think AP and non AP), and if you didn’t do the higher level for all of your classes then you weren’t going to succeed in life. If you went to college instead of university then you were a failure. And I was told that as long as I went to university and got good grades I’d be set. Well, here I am at 22, having worked full time every summer for 4 years and part time during the school year. I’m in the top 10% of my program, have a 3.9 gpa. I can’t afford a house, I can’t even afford to move out of my parents house. Can’t afford a car. Have next to no job prospects unless I go into a masters program. The jobs I can get are just… awful. Awful hours and awful pay for what you do. I Haven’t had more than one relationship because I put all my energy into school and work. I feel frustrated and betrayed by the system, and BTS’ old music still feels like a safe place for that anger and frustration.

*One recent song by BTS member yoongi that talks on the capitalism issue is STRANGE FT RM BY AGUST D/SUGA. The lyrics are so damn relatable even if you are not in a similar situation. Its wonderfully written and expressed as question "Isn't it strange?"*

To all the ppl in the comments complaining and fighting about BTS's new music, that's not the point of this video. They just use it to explain about "n-po generation", the situation in SK, THAT'S what this video is about, it's not even about their old music really🙄

Yeah. I feel like they’re somewhat biased. These ARMYs don’t want to be associated with the current songs of BTS. They’re ashamed of the English songs (the very pop ones) and they forgot or are ignoring that BTS have other solid songs in their albums. BE is a very good album, timely and appropriate with the problems we are facing right now. I hope these ARMYs will come to realize BTS released English songs to reach more people (universal language, and dance track for performances purposes), and not give up on them just because they hate these dance (repetitive lyrics) songs.

In the beginning I really liked their choreography and music even without understanding the meaning of their songs. But when I looked for the meaning of their songs I completely fell in love with them. Their old songs had so much emotions and soul in them. Which I am unable to find in their new songs and so unable to connect with them. Because I truly love BTS. Their music has help me go through some tough times when I lost my mom to depression. Their music really held me together and kept me sane. Now I am so confused, I feel like a person whose lover has suddenly changed after many years in relationship and now I don't know what to do. I understand about BTS trying new things and catering to the global audience but I wished they have not changed so much so suddenly....😭😭. It feels like I am losing a very important part of me. ARMYS PLEASE HELP!!

@@akb8239 just out of curiosity, English songs aside, do you feel like that about MOTS 7 or BE? One of the biggest challenges that I experienced after losing my sister was the inability to move forward. I became incredibly stagnant. BTS, their music & their content became something I could look forward to, something where I felt joy. Eventually when I did dig deeper into Spring Day, So Far Away, Awake & Epiphany, I found reason in self development again. It took a long while but making goals & taking steps forward, even if they were small, didn’t feel as daunting anymore. One of the biggest challenges my sister and I both discussed & struggle with is self actualization… feeling confident in who I am, my journey & how I can keep going with autonomy of self. That balance of self. I loved MOTS as a concept but nothing prepared me for EGO. It’s such a strong statement of self actualization, it’s almost triumphant. Of course listening to it and watching the mv, I feel joyous but then looking into the lyrics of it, there’s this somber feeling of man, I’m glad he’s at a place where he trusts his footing but I’m not quite there… not even close. I’ve got a long way to go & many things to learn & put into practice. EGO is honestly one of my top BTS songs. BE, especially Blue & Grey & Dis-ease really struck a chord with me. Many have a strong, negative, opinion about PTD specifically out of the English releases & I’ll admit that it’s not a song I might seek out often but one thing that was apparent to me was how all the members genuinely look as though they’ve reached that EGO phase of their journey, where they are sure of themselves, not matter where they go. Think of it this way, had the pandemic not happened, we would be well on our way into the “fear” concept they hinted at during the 2020 end of the year awards. BTS typically releases a good amount of their introspective work well after they’ve already had time to put their thoughts together & overcome that difficulty. They’ve talked about their fears regarding their future plenty of times, but in PTD, they’re stating that they know how to land and they genuinely look relaxed & happy. It wouldn’t surprise me if the album that was supposed to follow MOTS would cover these fears and that by now they’ve already completed a good portion of the album allowing them to get into the lighter, more confident & joyful mindset that they seem to have as of late. The pandemic has created a unique situation for all artists, but considering the caliber of the mots tour & all they had planned years in advance, it makes sense that they’ve shifted some things drastically in a short time to see how things go. I enjoy the English releases despite them not being the top of my preferences from their work… but I also think they have their place & that whatever is to come with their future work, where they’re more involved again with writing & producing, will be something to look forward to.

@@akb8239 im sorry but i feel like that is so selfish of you. bts has been changing their sound A LOT throughout their career. they are ARTISTS. they are not afraid to experiment on their sound and always try something new. each album they create has a story in it. a lot of people are hyping hyyh and wings era so much and yes those albums are amazing but bts has gone A LOT of shit during those era and is actually the DARKEST times of their career. wanting them to create songs like that again is like pushing them to walk another dark path to feed us "emo bangtan" era. if you miss their old music, then go listen to them. stop complaining about their english songs which by the way are not really meant to be "relatable" but are just made to attract new listeners. BE is an amazing album and if u dont feel the same way, that's not really bangtan's problem.

Wow, the complaints about shows like, I Live Alone and TROS make so much more sense now.

The music of every good musician grows and changes. BTS is unlikely to go back to doing the exact same kind of music as they did back then, because they've grown as individuals and as musicians. They do still do deeper, darker, relatable stuff - their last album (BE) had a song called Dis-Ease, and the one before that (MOT7) was filled with darker stuff, though the songs got brighter and more hopeful as you went down the tracklist (which I think was a deliberate choice, considering what was going on with them at the time). Also, they still produce the more "criticism of society" stuff individually. Suga (or rather, Agust D)'s last mixtape had a lot of that type of thing. Since there is that evidence of their main songwriters writing these type of lyrics, I think they may do more of it later on. It's possible they're holding off on it to avoid adding more stress and anger onto their fans than what is already there - after all, we've had a lot of things to be angry and resentful of recently

I live in South Africa but I relate with this so much my cousins are currently doctors and medical professionals and IN THE MIDST OF COVID they were unemployed. I'm going to University next year and it might not be as bad as Korea but I constantly think of my career choice (law) and its vacancies because I would hate to have worked so hard in high school to get to Uni and not get a job.

Another South African here. I'm in the incredibly fortunate position of being employed, but many of my classmates from my masters degree could not find employment. Of course now many of them have emigrated. Not considering everything else that comes with emigration, this video showed me again that even if you decide you want to move, there doesn't seem to be a place that doesn't have these kind of issues for our generation.

I’m really glad that you came out with this video, it’s so informative. Recently I noticed a lot of new ARMY disrespecting BTS’ early music as “childish” but it’s quite the opposite. Wearing school uniforms isn’t a symbol of immaturity. They were bold enough to speak up about hardships that affect nearly their entire generation.

No it wasn't childish, who are these people saying that? They definitely evolved with their sound, but that phase was as important to their career as are the newer music from past 2 or 3 years. In my perspective their lyricism evolved from a social level to a personal introspective level. They are very different subjects to be compared like this. Those who do are themselves childish and immature.

Yall need to chill lmao I said I still love their new stuff. My comment wasn’t that deep. It’s just that I tend to gravitate more towards that old school hip hop/rap vibe. I never said they shouldn’t evolve or that they should make one type of music only for their whole career. Not everything is so black and white. I simply gravitate more towards a type of genre. But I support BTS no matter what bc they got me through so much… I stream their new stuff just as much as their old stuff…. Like most of my playlists consists of BTS music.

Survival is a tough word that each and every millennials need to grasp. It's not only being monetary independent but at the same time helping other people to have similar independence. And to say having the best education would lead you to have a happy and full life is an understatement. What's of the importance is being able to survive in this cruel world

BTS' songs are so relatable for almost everyone. I found them when I was about 13-14 years old back in 2015. That was the hyyh era. Their lyrics resonated so much with me. They told me to have dreams, aspirations. And I was trying. But as I grew older I didn't know what I wanted. I didn't have a dream. And I constantly felt the pressure to have one. But then they released their album Love Yourself: Tear which had the song Paradise. They then told me that it's ok to not have a dream and dreams like buyin a laptop next month and other small dreams like that are enough. I learned to pace myself and to be less harsh on myself. This helped me tremendously. I'm more calm and have a clearer mind to think about what I'm good at and what I want for myself and miraculously now I have somewhat of a path planned. I feel so happy to have had them growing up from my teens

Millennials and Gen Z going to have it really bad after Covid. I hope BTS will write more social commentary songs again re:generational divides.. their new pop easy songs are ok, but personally love their raw, deep and edgy style best, where I feel they are most interesting and creative. It’s what draws most ppl down the rabbit hole 💜

BTS still talk about or write about these stuff and in dfferent ways since they are not struggling anymore, they are very honest with their music and MOTS 7 a 2020 album talks about important issues too but more on the inside like inner struggles.

Tbh I think this hits home in every industrialised country. Be it the US Korea, Japan the UK, Germany, France or any other European Union country. At least for me that's the reason why bts music hits home so hard. I am from Germany and if looking to the core we basically face the same problems. Not so extreme tho but still.

I heard or read that RM was a little afraid to write wrong bc he is on the rich position now tbh but i think they wrote it so well.. bc they talk about the general system that has all of us like slaves and not exactly them being the "underdogs" or "victims". which was a great approach

i really miss their old identity , music and vibe. growth is good and inevitable but i really hope they wont lose their roots.

As a mother of 2 walking through the pandemic with them as young adults and trying to figure out how they will survive this was relatable . My daughter has been with BTS for 7 years and struggled with school because of learning difficulties - I have seen how they helped her through , it was a support system that I couldn't provide and they did . We saw them at their very last concert in Seoul before covid hit us all . Probably the only over 50s white women , we sat separately because tickets were so hard to get .The whole row made me feel welcome , right at the top the skyline of Seoul , one of the best concerts I have ever seen and ( I saw the Rolling Stones at Wembley Stadium over 40 years ago )!! I just like to add thank you for your channel and please BTS carry on singing in Korean we don't mind !!

I started listening to BTS back in 2017 and was probably too young to understand all of the social commentary, but their music just FELT different. You know? There was current lived experience and raw emotion in their words and music. They’ve grown as artists now, and like every other 2000s pop rock musician that’s still producing, they’ve matured out of that stage in their lives. But I really do miss their older works, as that’s what drew me in. I see why they had to change with their new-acquired popularity, because saying they’re the underdog students wasn’t going to cut it with the rightly earned wealth they achieved through their hard work and relatability. Even still, I hope one day they can perhaps do a call out to their earlier music, like what many artists do when re-mastering. BTS really helped me when I didn’t know I needed it, and I believe their original goal of helping people through tough times stands till today. Thank you BTS for helping me during a tough transition into adulthood. Your purpose served, and I hope it can continue to for many more years after.

However, they can't, because there are brands, sponsorships, endorsements, modelling contracts, and other images that BTS represent now. I miss that vulnerability of their humanity, but the working world has de-humanised and toughened them up to fit their ideal male image.

@@user-dg3ug7ny5d that’s true, BTS music used to be so free because not many people were involved but now they are under everyone’s scrutiny, the west scrutiny, both Korean and world other industry scrutiny, brand’s scrutiny and even under the South Korean government scrutiny? they are the ambassadors of their nation so it’s way harder to be direct with their message now, I feel kinda bad thinking that.... fame kinda is caging isn’t it?

Thats why they become who they are now .They talk about relatable issues around the world. Their songs are not reduced to talk about relationships, They talk about another topics. With Be they did that too and I hope they keep doing it with their music in the future.

it’s honestly so indifferent & rare how they talked about these social economic issues because nowadays, in our everyday lives, the young adults are being told to do these things because of the way society has just upgraded in stressful ways, and we don’t have an option, we have to do all these things to survive in this world. it doesn’t matter how depressed you are, or how stressed you are, or how close you feel like taking your life, there is always something that’ll stand in the way & push you right back at it no matter how exhausted you are. and the second thing is, everyone is so invested in whatever they’re doing so it’s important to not get distracted by people who are woke & talk about these things, even if you agree. if you proceed to expose the way & mentality of this new world order, it won’t end up pretty. what a jacked up world we live in.

This is a great video! Thank you so much for explaining the situation further. One of the main reasons why I got into BTS was because of their lyrics and how much I could relate to them. I'm now getting into TXT and I can see how they also sing about stories that are relatable to their generation. I have so much respect for Bang PD for encouraging his groups to tell stories through their music that can be relatable by so many.

Misaeng is such a great drama - one of the dramas that opened my eyes as an actor to the quality of work, both in front of and behind the camera, that was coming out of Korea and which has continued to improve. Although there is much that I have not yet watched, it seemed to be one of the first to pose fundamental questions about life for young Koreans on the cusp of adulthood.

Wdym older songs 😭 PTD literally pulled me out of the covid times.. Their whole discography is timeless masterpiece

I'm disabled and on a fixed income here in the states. Keeping up with my typical peers has been twice as difficult (not only due to my age but my disability as well) because it feels like they're steps ahead of me even if I am experienced. I used to work at a hotel and got fired because of lack of training on their part. BTS' "Baepsae" helped me realize that no matter what I did, the people at my job (and some of my family members) were going to give me crap for being "a few steps behind" both socially (I'm on the autism spectrum) and in work speed.

I joined kpop in 2014, (i was around 22-23yo back then) and the two groups I instantly became fans of was B.A.P and BTS, thanks to their songs that reflect my emotional n mental state at the time 🥺 I was working towards my degree then and their songs then just resonated with me so much. Im still a fan now, but also a fully functional adult who are working full time, with adult worries and concerns. I.e paying taxes, paying off student debts, saving money for future house/car... I felt like i grew more older/mature as BTS do along the years (considering im the same age as Jin, its sorta true) Some of BTS' reflect my adult emotional n mental states (often Bside tho - epiphany, serendipity, disease) But their title tracks (especially the english releases) are so "fresh n peppy" now that i no longer feel like im the target demography 😔 Ive since moved on to Ateez, (but still loving BTS' bside songs) but still consider myself an Army 🤭

There early music was relatable, but no one knew who they were to totally relate to it in Korea until the end of 2017. No billboards of them everywhere back then. I started in 2013 with BTS. Went to Korea 2016-2020. I went to my first concert in 2016. So many empty seats and tickets prices were 60 usd. I wish more people could of notice them so they could relate.

As someone only a couple years older than the members, their output feels right on time for me. I only started listening in ‘17 but to catch up on all those early series & then find them going through their own journey towards self actualization in MOTS was pretty cathartic for me. Especially with EGO. Their mindset has matured & evolved but their message is still very much relatable. It’s like the entirety of their discography has carried this string of hope despite disparity. The you of today might be challenged but the you of tomorrow are worth all that it will take to get there. Now matter what chapter of their work you pick up, you’ll find some semblance of this. That’s what resonates.

I honestly am hoping they return to more social commentary as adults. I am sure they still have a lot to say. Permission to Dance did not resonate for me, but I have confidence that they still have stories to tell. 💜

actually GOGO is also another song of theirs that is highly related to this phenomenon and its not considered an old song since its released in 2017. there is a line 티끌 모아 티끌 Derived from a korean saying “Specks when gathered build a huge mountain which means a lot of small amounts when put together become a large amount. teaches thrift and saving. The young generation, however, realised that it no longer makes sense bc like you explained small salary will never accumulate in their lifetime enough to buy a house so they started pursuing the pleasure of the present.

I really like this type of video best on your channel. I learn a lot and I feel grateful. I live in the US and have experienced many hardships as well. I love the early material of BTS and I hope they won't spend too much time going after the Grammy because I think their music is much better, more relatable, and more meaningful when they're just writing to write and composing to compose, and sharing to share as well as performing to perform because they love it, and not for an achievement.

As a student that works the music for BTS is like a reflection of my life , not being idol butt the effort of trying to do all it cause stress and sometimes depression but feels good do sonething with porpuse in your life , i live in Mexico and everyone knows that not is the best country in the world

The same situation is happening in the US. Young people are having such a hard time finding a job that pays a livable wage and the older generation just refuses to accept that the world is different than the one they grew up in. And there doesn't seem to be any political will to help the younger generation and poor people to find a decent job, because right now, the way things are going, the rich are getting richer and richer. And that is all that the powers that be care about.

this is the first reason why bangtan is so unique and different from their peers.BTS music has it's own story and most importantly their music evolved u can see growth in every release along with them as artist and musician and that's very important.Their skills,talent and passion in creating top tier music cemented themselves in pop music history. To those closeminded people who always criticised bts's music without knowing the story just shut ur mouth!!!MUSICIAN/ARTISTS must evolved. BTS is very special .Their growth along with their music together with ARMY is very special too. Bighit,BTS,and ARMY keep moving forward successfully without sacrificing their integrity,their music & their art. meanwhile:KPOP is still stagnant and seen no growth.

Whenever I worry that BTS isn't doing the hard-hitting social commentary they used to, I take a deep breath and remind myself that they released Strange and Dis-ease LAST YEAR. (It's not their fault the past 18 months lasted a thousand years.) I also remind myself that Yoongi wrote a ton of things that didn't make it on to Be that will probably turn up on an Agust-D mixed tape. That said, I do worry for them. They became a global phenomenon writing about the social and economic pressures that are crushing all of us, through the lens of their own experience as Korean artists at an underdog company. The competitive capitalist system that they criticize created them. Will it crush them, too? Through over work? Through outsized rewards that cause them to lose sight of how unfair the system is? By shoving them into a package that's more marketable in the west? Or just making them more bland and marketable generally? On the whole, though, their discography shows they are thoughtful, creative people who've kept a level head in a whirlwind of pressure and fame. They're incredibly young. I think they're going to have staying power and we're going to hear more from them on hard hitting issues. Meanwhile, they're helping us dance (and cry) through the pandemic. I have never identified with a band or its message the way I identify with them. Shout out to DKDKTV for a great video. I've learned a ton about Korean culture and the world from you.

Those who are not Armys say BTS are loved because of their looks and because their songs are catchy.. As an Army, I can say this is not true.. Yes, there are some Armys who mostly care about the members looks and only want a song with powerful beats, but this wasn't the case for me at least.. I became an Army in 2014.. I was a fan of other groups before too.. Yes at first, I liked how the songs sounded, but when I knew the lyrics of their songs like No More Dream, Tomorrow and so many more, my feelings for the group got on another level.. Their lyrics are not only relatable to Koreans, but to all youth in general.. I feel the lyrics in my heart and some of their songs hit so hard that I end up crying after listening to them.. Like I try to avoid listening to Tomorrow, even though I LOVE it, because the lyrics, especially Suga's part, speak to me on a personal level and make my heart really ache.. The part of the lyrics that goes like "20 something youth who's afraid of tomorrow" and "everyday is ctrl c ctrl v" just summarize like 80% of my problems in life.. Can't wait for their next Korean comeback so we have the powerful lyrics again

This video is amazing! As a ‘75 liner American with two millennial children, I was curious about the disconnect between the hard work of Korean youth, but the lack of resources. I didn’t know if living with your parents into your 30’s was culturally driven out of family togetherness, or economically based. Thank you for this educational video!💜

I got into BTS in 2015 from their Dope lyrics and honestly I give dope credit for most of my work ethic now as somebody in their 4th year of undergrad and as a corporate worker

I think no matter your country or city, I guess its relatable for every young person, coz sadly this corruption, parental prrssure, peer pressure, societal pressure, hyper competitive world, the need to succeed and get rich exists everywhere. Im an Indian and its soo relatable for me, I even saw sm comments of ppl saying they are from Canada, USA, etc and its so relatable for thrm too. So apparently it happens everywhere :(

I’m an early gen z person from France and I can tell this vid resonates with what youth lives here so much… we have trouble finding jobs or even internships, sometimes being “too educated” prevents you from finding something because employers consider you cost too much and ofc the previous generations (especially boomers who’re in charge of the country) do nothing but nag us and complain about how we’re giving up on work, property, entrepreneurship etc. Not to mention they use tiktok too in order to try to make us forget they completely gave up on youth and college students during the pandemic.

i'm not korean but BTS has been so loud about Korea's society issues since then. like, i learn more about Korea behind 'those pretty curtains' whenever BTS released song. And I couldn't stop being amazed again when BTS released 'Go Go' since it was a term used by millennial generation during the song was released. it feels like, BTS tells you the things that people can't describe in 3 minutes-length. I love their their tracks :(

BTS's earlier lyrics hit hard globally. I have experienced or experiencing many of them still.

I like bts songs since 2014 when i was a high school student. No More Dream was really relatable to my situation at that time so i began to admire them and follow their upcoming songs after that. I felt like bts communicate with the fans through their lyrics. Tbh I really love their earlier songs compare to the latest, especially the rapline songs. But still all of their songs are my favorite

BTS early discography was something else. they do still make such deep songs of course but those earlier albums were really representing the frustrations of their generation. I hope they get more and more recognition. They always tend to make it as if the new era what made them popular but i believe otherwise. Those early albums really tell us what our boys were from the start. What messages they wanted to spread to others. I really am so proud of them😭💜

BTS really get their (our) generation, that's why their earlier songs are about youth problems and their newer songs are focused on small happinesses and mental health. As a 27 yo brazilian, living with my parents as well, this video really hit home. It seems that the youth crisis is global and there's no point, no hope. So we hold onto the small happinesses of life and try to keep going.

This speaks to me so well😭😭 it seems like this is just happening everywhere. I currently work fulltime above middle age and I can’t even afford a one bedroom apartment. If I didn’t have my parents I’d be living in my car.

I’ll never forget when Jimin bought an apartment complex in 2019 and the general public was upset by it. Knuts we’re defending Jimin saying he could do whatever he wants with his money, although that may be true. You can not deny the fact he is part of the housing crisis issue. I love BTS but I can still be critical of their wealth and how they truly help their country. I love BTS and if you don’t believe me you can just Google “Jimin buys apartment complex backlash” and you’ll see exactly what I’m referring too. Love BTS but at the end of the day their human too.
