Why Brighton TERRIFY The "Big Teams"
Спорт
Brighton's season not only has them on the cusp of the Champions League, but has included impressive victories over Liverpool, Man United, and now Arsenal. But what is it about Roberto De Zerbi's team that means they give the so-called "bigger clubs" such a tough time?

Rumour is Southgate is going to try it and give Dunk more then 1 cap. Nah he’s just going to do the same system and play Conor Coady and James tarkowski.
Really needed to see this as a Newcastle fan just before we play them

Yep, I think you nailed that part of the Brighton tactics. Tonight is going to be a tough game for both sides. Will it define the season? no. Newcastle still should get Champions League, whatever the result. Brighton still have a damn good chance of European football as well, whatever the result. What could be defining for this season, is the Brighton v City game. If City want anything from the game, they will have to be on their A game. Anything else and it will be painful for them.

this season only mc is the big team and they do not fear brighton at all
4-1. BHA first corner in the 87minute. And the Toon seem to have just done exactly what they were supposed not to. Did they just press sooooo much that the Brighton killer trap pass was just too rushed or cut out in the channel? Love to see a video on this. (Obviously, ‘cos I’m a Toon fan but it was a fascinating game tactically).

Newcastle to their credit were absolutely relentless but it’s worth baring in mind the injuries and fatigue in the Brighton camp during that run. If you look at the results they were all over the place.

It was a weaker team so that RDZ could rest key players and see how some of the inexperienced lads got on. The Southampton game at the weekend was the target because a win secured European football and it was a much easier game to win. I also think 4-1 flattered a bit, it was 2-1 and Brighton brought on young attackers to have a final push and try them out and it didn't work

@All-Time Seagull I know where you're coming from but we're going to need a much bigger set of first team players and believe me we've a lot of players that will go before Miggy and Wilson. Our previous owner knew the sale would go through sooner than later so a lot of players were given contract extensions to save buying in so now we're stuck with championship players with PL contracts and we'll probably have to pay them off to get rid
I was so impressed with them at St James Park last week. We ultimately picked them apart but I was so impressed with how comfortable they looked passing through our press. Not many sides in Europe can or want to even attempt that. I'll see it right now, he might not go straight to City from Brighton but he will be Pep's replacement once day.

Actually if you watch the game closely, they were struggling to get a proper attack against us, howe learnt their ball control and turned it on them shows how good howe is.

@@HAHSIRAODEN In the first half I think they invited us on so we would burn out and it worked because from the beginning of the season half to Wilson scoring they were all over us and it was getting very nervy. Spot on Exiled Seagull. The game this season showed what happens when you don’t press with enough intensity and the Brighton team was fresh. Newcastle (and Man U) ended up making Brighton look like Barcelona of the early 2000s with the ease at which they dissected the opposition defence.
I thought all teams would “Everton” Brighton now, but clearly some clubs are too stupid (or stubborn which is the same as stupid) to do that.

Thing is, you’re asking teams to completely change the way they play for one match. To undo a season or more of training ground development in at most 3-4 days. “Big” teams believe that they have the tools to beat Brighton using their way of playing. The reality is it’s probably only City who will comfortably achieve this…

We just thought we’d “Newcastle” them instead, despite them being “tailor made” for beating high pressing sides. We didn’t get the memo apparently!

Typical Italian type tactics
@alexthompson3887
9 ай бұрын
But isn’t the traditional Italian way to just sit deep, defend and then hit on the break? Or just look to hang onto a 1-0 lead? As covered in the video, Brighton create artificial transitions by baiting the opposition and then exploit space when in possession of the ball the whole time. That’s very different to the traditional Italian way, surely? Plus, you won’t ever see Brighton looking to just defend a 1-0 lead. They’ll view that as more of an opportunity to create artificial transitions, as the onus is then on the opposition to press more to try to get back into the game.
