Khama never gets talked about, but is amongst the greatest leaders of the 20th century. 5 other things: The British were asked by Khama to stay behind and help administer for a while after independence. Botswana also didn't want to get resource trap, so they diversified their economy as much as possible and slowly. Public health was a priority: Khama was insistent that people had access to basic services like water. Botswana never went into debt. Botswana from the very beginning knew that education was the key to success: Khama sent the first generation of leaders to England to be educated and subsequently they educated the next generation.

I loved visiting Namibia, but Botswana has a lot going for it. Compared to neighbors like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, & Angola (that are like trailer park neighbors having frequent domestic violence episodes) it is a breath of fresh air.

I used to like Namibia, but they've just rolled out the CBDC's there as a test module for this evil world government they're trying to bring in :( I had Namibia in mind as a nice place to hide from that, but I see I was mistaken. Have always admired Botswana. One of the best movies ever made was filmed there :D

To be honest I think this is more effective than a standard show. It’s concise, informative and can be easily shared. Why YT didn’t recommend it to me for a year though is another question.

Botswana's main ethnic group ; the Tswana is a very dominant majority (nearly 80% of the population)causing less friction in struggle for power with other ethic groups and the country's population is so small in comparison with average African Country populations hence making distribution of the natural resources wealth more equitable as it is divided amongst fewer people; this will obviously reflect a high PCY (Per Capita Income). It is like comparing Qatar to Saudi Arabia , Qatar comes out on top for it's dismal population advantage.

Hmm I just checked, Botswana is nowhere near a middle income country. Yes, it's among the richest in Africa and the premise of this video about political stability and free markets is correct, but there are obviously other factors at play. Botswana's GDP per capita is on par with the poorest nations in Europe like Bosnia, Kosovo and Belarus (which never adopted capitalism)

Correct. And the ONLY reason Botswana is even considered a remote success is because of their natural resources.
