Khama never gets talked about, but is amongst the greatest leaders of the 20th century. 5 other things: The British were asked by Khama to stay behind and help administer for a while after independence. Botswana also didn't want to get resource trap, so they diversified their economy as much as possible and slowly. Public health was a priority: Khama was insistent that people had access to basic services like water. Botswana never went into debt. Botswana from the very beginning knew that education was the key to success: Khama sent the first generation of leaders to England to be educated and subsequently they educated the next generation.

Amen! The same kind of sanity used by America's founding fathers, but forgotten by today's uneducated voters. 😎♥✝🇺🇸💯

Yea I've never heard about him until today and I'm sorry I didn't. I feel like he shouldn't definitely be more well known
I loved visiting Namibia, but Botswana has a lot going for it. Compared to neighbors like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, & Angola (that are like trailer park neighbors having frequent domestic violence episodes) it is a breath of fresh air.

I used to like Namibia, but they've just rolled out the CBDC's there as a test module for this evil world government they're trying to bring in :( I had Namibia in mind as a nice place to hide from that, but I see I was mistaken. Have always admired Botswana. One of the best movies ever made was filmed there :D
Someone needs to give you a show-- just one pilot and you'd be a hit.

To be honest I think this is more effective than a standard show. It’s concise, informative and can be easily shared. Why YT didn’t recommend it to me for a year though is another question.
Thanks for promoting Africa 🌍
I discovered this about Botswana a couple of years ago while contemplating partners in improving the educational systems around the world. Botswana was my #1 pick. I'd like to do everything I can to help support their successes, and to export the knowledge to its neighbors. 😎♥✝🇺🇸💯

Where were one of the poorest nations in the world but our forefathers came with a plan to become independent and economic strong with no help from others.
Botswana!!
I do believe Democrats and NeoCon RINOs could learn a lesson from Botswana.
I really like the beard that Nick has grown
Not tribalism no corruption
Botswana's main ethnic group ; the Tswana is a very dominant majority (nearly 80% of the population)causing less friction in struggle for power with other ethic groups and the country's population is so small in comparison with average African Country populations hence making distribution of the natural resources wealth more equitable as it is divided amongst fewer people; this will obviously reflect a high PCY (Per Capita Income). It is like comparing Qatar to Saudi Arabia , Qatar comes out on top for it's dismal population advantage.

Except Diamonds don't bring nearly as much money as Oil does. You can't compare Oil wealth to optional jewelry wealth.
Love it! It’s about time.
Never heard about this until today. Good on them!
Awesome
Read "Africa Unchained" by George Ayitte 💁🏿♂️ he explains it all 😁
You call it Botswana, I call it Buttswana! 😁 # PassportBros
This is the proof that neither colonialism or tribalism are the source of problems lf africans, but the kind of politics they applyies nowadays.

Hmm I just checked, Botswana is nowhere near a middle income country. Yes, it's among the richest in Africa and the premise of this video about political stability and free markets is correct, but there are obviously other factors at play. Botswana's GDP per capita is on par with the poorest nations in Europe like Bosnia, Kosovo and Belarus (which never adopted capitalism)

Correct. And the ONLY reason Botswana is even considered a remote success is because of their natural resources.
Who are you ? I am glad you are here thank you for your education to us thank you for such relevant information to black people to poor people to information starved black people and everyone else who cares about mama Africa

I love how people in the comments trash talk Nick and Capitalism while living under the comfort that Nick and Capitalism provide. 😂😂😂
Evil people left them alone. They organized and help each other. If greedy devils leave all of Africa alone the whole continent would be fabulous.
South Africa literally funds Botswana and now you said Botswana is richer , what bullshit

@@melaninbotswana2474 Yes , you heard of De Beers , largest diamond company in the world , South African company based in Johannesburg , responsible for al diamonds mining in Botswana , of which diamonds is Botswanas biggest export and singular source of income . Only 50% of those funds go to Botswana while the res comes to South Africa , without us Botswana would be nowhere , not to mention more of your citizens live in South Africa than Botswana .

I can simply say without Botswana diamonds where will south africa be there's a reason Botswana wants more for its resources we have been cheated for far too long our resources feeding south africa 🇿🇦 enough is enough if they don't agree to terms like the president said then they should consider going to Sierra Leon but again de beers guys are smarter unlike you Botswana produces more than 50%of de beers gem diamonds 💎

South Africa will remain the powerhouse of this continent ( just for reference sake your national budget of Botswana is 108 billion rand , that is less than the OVER 12O BILLION that the City of Cape Town alone is investing into infrastructure over the next 10 years ...
