Why do people always forget the time between slavery and today, we had a strong family unit
@demetrie94
Жыл бұрын
Yes, we did have a strong family unit-especially in the US, we had the highest marital rates. But, respectfully, we need to also examine the entire 19th and 20th century circumstance. After 1877 [in the US], we had the Nadir (Tillman-Hayes Act, mob lynchings, Plessy v Ferguson), Jim Crow Laws (vagrancy laws, loitering, etc), neighborhood terror (Red Summer, the bombing of Tulsa, etc.), Separate and Unequal Public Education, Housing Discrimination (convent laws; which was the primary wealth generator in the US), the emergence of mass incarceration in the 1970s, cointelpro and militarized policing, The War on Drugs, The 1990s Crime Bill… There is a genealogy of oppression. Surely, we can do better as a people but we must also recognize that even when we encourage personal responsibility amongst our people, we need to be mindful that there are structures of repression. I love my people and I love this content. But, I’m very concerned with how much history y’all don’t know. By the way, I am a trained doctoral scholar in English and Black Studies; I hope my comment is humbly accepted.

Thomas Sowell truly helped me break out of this generic lefty, woke, victimisation mentality.. He was the one that highlighted a clear period in time when African Americans were married at a higher rate than whites at the time. POST SLAVERY.

like when black women complain about the men they had a child with who isn't doing right. YOU were involved in making that child too.
Accountability is kryptonite.
During and after our enslavement we were more together, women took ourselves away from the family for money and the want not to be told anything and to be able to say I'm doing me and be independent all whilst living in a council house and claiming CSA , rather than have the father in the home .

@@j-us-t_be-in-g people have been talking about how detrimental single motherhood is for over 25 years and it’s getting worse instead of better. That’s not conditioning that’s black women not wanting to be told anything. I’m sorry but if someone told me I had 75% chance my parachute wouldn’t open guess what I wouldn’t go ski diving.
"The Media" doesn't just do whatever it wants, it produces what sells and what they would like people to learn to accept. Our community is allergic to accountability; we accept those illnesses that "the media" can inflict but without a demand for it there wouldn't be a supply of it. Also women are the primary consumers of media TV, music, movies, books, social media etc. so songs like "no scrubs" were made, and kept being made, because that's what the famale consumer base wanted to hear. People, learn something from this panel. Don't play the victim, don't blame other people or races for your situation. If you want to progress in life and move forward, get away from the victim mentality.
"Black women bashing" is the most feeble, weak, get out clause generic response I've ever heard. Its simply a child like immediate response to scrutiny.. "You're picking on me".. I never buy that rubbish..
Remember Chris Rocks' stand-up where he said stop blaming the media?

Lol, you can't be kicked out of your own home - the law would not be on your side. So logically, you can only conclude that the man never owned the house in the first place, or they CHOSE to leave.
Tell that media bs to the women in my family. I didn’t need the media to let me know that black woman are unruly.
Yes it’s true that both blank women and men get bashed but the difference Is there’s day time talk shows dedicated to giving women voices to bash men but when men speak on women there’s whole campaigns to cancel them

That was a great point bringing up that stand up from Bill Burr. If women cared about women's basketball all the money will be thrown over there but it's not it's housewives shows and Love & hip Hop that gets all the money. The media doesn't tell people what the like The media gives people what they want so they can make their money. So black women blaming the media is ridiculous because women RUN the media
She is crazy, she is talking about an AMERICAN phenomenon in the UK, with a british accent. Hillarious.
With a lot of black women I have experienced everything has to be a argument.
Welfare took the blackam out of the home far more than anything else.

...MAN Bashing Songs were Made an Anthem, by the women
At 11:20 mark he's absolutely wrong. A lot of rappers spoke about relationships twenty years ago- for example Method Man Break Ups 2 Make Ups and Ghostface Killah- Neva Be the Same Again & Back Like That. The difference is that back then these songs were blk ppl talking about their relationships in general with someone of the oppostie sex who obviously happened to also be blk. The difference now is the incidence of blk men and women openly bashing each other by race, online for everyone else to see.
I'm hearing lot of 'Zaddy doesn't think I'm beautiful like Zadette, so I'm angry', but they not ready for that truth.
We’re never going to get to the start of it because women will forever push the goalposts. Therefore… until accountability is taken into consideration. We will forever run around in circles.
The girl in the black has clout sound arguments right or different doesnt matter she has brains
Poor light skinned guy in the middle didn't feel comfortable speaking on anything until the conversation became more general. 😂😂😂
The media, who are they though?
What a host, his finger is straight on the pulse. Straight shooters no bs
"I get bashed" So.... that's the excuse you want to use for your bad behavior ? That's the exact same EXCUSE, school shooters use ! I was bullied, so I act out ! Bad excuse !
Damn- Black women the UK dont take ACCOUNTABILITY either!!!
ASWELL, TOOO, NOT ALL, ITS BOTH, NOT ONLY, NOT JUST US, BUT REMEMBER, I love these conversations but the above really derails, distract and takes away from the point. Its make something said a 3 mins thing into a 9 mins thing 😅 Truth is we’re wrong but we got to much pride to be checked especially in public and perhaps at all 👀

With the things that happened th BM during slavery, wouldn’t it make sense that BM would have more of an attitude
if black people didn't support certain songs on the radio, the radio wouldn't play those songs. the "media" plays songs that the people want the most 2 make the most money. it's up 2 the black people listening n support. these women don't take accountability 4 the songs they twerking to
Black women get “bashed” the most? Maybe because your the most masculine women.
These chicks are perfect examples of why their in this situation. They will not except anything their told and just keep passing the blame. We live in a capitalist society so whatever is getting the most eyeballs is going to be played and video in the media and on the radio.
Lols
But men… every female response when they feel attacked.
She very masculine
The tradition of slavery is still alive in Africa.
7:10 nah it is bashing bro, black ppl always have to specify “black men this, black women that” we the only ones to do that. When Suffragettes was outchea black men and women were seen as lesser, but you never here them specify that it’s white men they are on to, it’s all men, but we always specify like joke men.
Mg what have they had to go thru?? Please explain…
The difference is that male "rappers" are rapping out the 304's that they deal with. 304's that are only flocking to them because these rappers have the clout and "bling." So these 304's just spread the cheeks, get nasty, and don't care about it. But the women rappers are talking about not giving "scrubs" and "ain't s**t n****s" no respect. Most of those guys are are made up of regular 9-to-5 Joe's with regular jobs. They are getting dissed for not being a millionaire, or having scammer wealth, or being a thug with money and "bling." These songs are talking most regular men down, and talking up hustling men out of their material things. And in the end talk up wanting to get smashed by the thugs. That is attacking regular men, and glorifying the material thugs. While the male rappers are talking about actual thugs dealings, and the 304's that come knocking for some cheek busting. They are not talking about average regular women. And only very recently have these male rappers started to mention these "modern women bag 304's" and being 304's too. They are not bashing randomly. They are pointing out very direct specific scenarios. While the women rappers are openly bashing all men (especially if they are just regular average working men). That's a big distinction.
BW are getting theirs because they always have so much to say
All the men i know take care of their kids
