Yes Teresa, I’m married and will most likely be coming to Portugal alone and my husband will be coming later. I felt very safe. I was still aware of my surroundings but felt safe.

Yes, we cannot be silly. Today as I was walking to the metro this guy came up on me, I think begging I don't know because he came to close. I was shaking my head no but then he looked like he was following me, so I stopped turned around put my hand in his face and loudly said NO - gave him my South Central look 🤨. Ric was behind me and said no at the same time but he probably didn't hear Ric cuz of my big mouth. 😆

Yes, I was able to to drink milk while in Portugal. I had a cappuccino with regular milk errday while in Portugal. Amazing!

In East Point ( Atlanta) in local Walmart, I purchased 5 items, none of them food, but necessary and cost 80 dollars 😐

I also appreciated the nuanced discussion about moving to countries in Africa and the drawbacks of trying to live a relatively safe and peaceful life there. As someone who has roots in Nigeria, it makes me sad and angry that for now, it literally CANNOT be on my list! Things are extremely dangerous for women, especially single women there. Add in the dynamics of colonization, patriarchy and misogynoir, and at this big age-it’s a hard no for me. For some, maybe it’s a different story, but I spent my most of my childhood there, and I’m still torn.

Hello halisi and ric and wonderful conversation about Portugal and nice listening on the live and l Remember when l was in Lisbon in 2018 for my niece wedding and l arrived late due to flight and l took public transportation from airport with transportation card l got at airport and l got lost at late at night but was safe a good Samaritan last guided me to my hotel.lisbon has awesome public transportation and walkable😊

?😳🤷🏽‍♀️ Black folks have been living in Portugal as long as Black folks have been living in the US; actually longer. They've made special provisions for citizens of their former colonies to have an easier process...we blend in until we open our mouths 😆

@OurBlackUtopia Interesting. Because I believe Italy has reached its tipping point as evidenced by hostilities against blacks, mainly immigrants. Unfortunately, there is some ugliness going on, not just Italy, but other European countries. It's important to stay aware, but still enjoy living there.

I regularly get a bottle of decent wine for 2€ :| where was that 90€ bill so I can avoid that place?? cabo verde is safe, but no healthcare. the rest isn't safe at all. stay in europe.

We've found our happy place, we're not going anywhere, I don't care what folks in the chat say. 🤣 The €90 bill was probably a 'white table cloth' type of restaurant, but still touristy prices. We had dinner in Saldanha over the holidays this year - we had 11 people, 4 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of champagne and shots. Everyone had main mean, most had desert, and we had some starters. The total bill came to €150 - so €90 is on the expensive side, but in the US pancakes and coffee at a horrible chain restaurant was €90 for 4 people.
