Look at the texture of the steamed sponge cake!
Nice
I never went back to metal steamers after I got a nice bamboo set, they're better in every way.
Oh man, this has got me super hungry even though I just ate a whole bunch of inarizushi and wanton mee. Like the soup dumplings look soooo freaking good and I can already smell the bamboo steamers just by watching the video
It's our family day for Dim sum on weekends

Hongkong and Vietnam get a lot of humidity - how come the steamers don't get mouldy there?
How do you know when it's time to replace a bamboo steamer?
@stretchyme
2 жыл бұрын
Literally when it starts breaking apart and you can see the rattan unravelling. For home use this will almost never happen. For restaurants, because they use the same steamer so many times in a day it wears down quicker.

Asian supermarket in big cities, USA, or Chinese restaurant supply store.
I used bamboo steamers at home for a while and they were great to use but over time, they got curly and unuseable to the point that I had to throw them out.
So is Victoria just the permanent narrator? Not a complaint at all, just curious. 😀

@Victoria Ho You sounded like Michelle Yeoh when I first watched this video. On second viewing, I was pretty convinced that your are Michelle Chong the Singapore actress. I was pretty surprised when I checked the description for the narrator. Nice voice and clear diction.

Bamboos grow very fast so they are a great renewable resource. But of course, we should take from commercially planted bamboo forest specific for harvesting not just cut down wild bamboo forest.

Unlikely, unless timsum vanished from earth. Nothing beats the fragrance of the food steamed using a bamboo steamer. Imagine zongzi wrapped with plastic instead of bamboo leaves...
