I'm a Christian and I had a room mate who didn't believe and used Jesus name as a cuss word. One day I had to say to her, "I'm the Christian but you actually say the name of Jesus more than I do." She said she didn't realise and sincerely apologised.

A guy next to me at the gym missed his lift and yelled J F C, and without a moment of hesitation I looked at him dead serious and said “is our lord and savior!!!!” And he immediately said “yah… you’re right”. I think some people are also just mindless sheep, and a strong person can quickly lead them towards good, if you are willing to be bold and outspoken. But you have to be willing to be a strong “out” Christian, and not hide your faith in your daily life.

This is honestly one of the dumbest arguments to prove one's religion. Just because someone keeps saying Jesus name, doesn't make him God. Most of the names that she mentioned aren't even considered as God anyway except "Allah" which literally means God but in arabic. Allah is even in arabic Bible because it's literally what God is translated to in arabic. Honestly the moment she started claiming Muhammad, Buddha, Joseph Smith, Charles Darwin and Pope Francis as false gods really showed how much research she's ever done in theology.

It played a huge part in me gaining faith. Crazy thing is, I was going up in the dream..so I see it as a vision now. He showed me that I would be saved before I was.

No, Jesus is actually a false God but he never explicitly claimed to be God, because a man can't be God, because God doesn't die, etcetera. And the reason why people commonly say Jesus when something is surprising (she left that cause out), or if it is in reaction to something negative, is because Jesus' name has been used that way by Christians themselves, or in heavily Christian countries. You will never go to Tibet and hear "JFC", or Saudi, or Tunisia, because they don't have the same morals or norms as Westerners. Christians will forever have a victim mentality and lack critical thinking.

In Ireland where I come from has seen a dramatic fall in church attendance maybe as much as 50%. but still that didn't stop both believers and non believers from using profanity laced Jesus words in the sense of a sudden exclamation. As someone that doesn't beleive in Jesus. I've never once used this and also would find it weird if someone used it that doesn't beleive in Jesus. Precisely because you are acknowledging him. But, I find that people that use it only use it because it's a learned response. And when we say curse words usually is when we lose control so your brain just goes to the easiest thing, which is just simply the one you've heard the most. And that's basically what Christianity is, the thing we hear the most and therefore it must be true. That's the basic argument for 99% of Christians since I can guarantee none of them have ever tried to go to another religion. Just grew up in it and decided to follow the dogma. Including this lady, that I can guarantee you never walked into a mosque, a hindu temple, a pagan temple, or ever read the bhagavad Gita and probably didn't even read her own Bible. But one day, she'll pass and the first thing she'll realize is Jesus ain't nowhere to be found.

Any time I see something like "GoD Is NOt ReAl" it always gets me angry for some reason especially if they are mocking god and stuff

It's surprising how this reminds me of the 3rd commandment, which says that a person will not be held guiltless for taking/using the Lord's name in vain.

It's the fact that specifically one of those religions she mentioned does recognize Jesus but refuses to believe his identity and who he really is. Boggles my mind 😢

No one is innocent, and no one is a good person. Your standard of what makes a good person a *Good Person* is low. On judgment day you will not be judged according to the standard of this world, nor the standard that you make up for yourself, but rather, God's standard. (Sin is the transgression of the law). Here on earth, we have Jail/prison for people who break the law. God also has his own prison for people who break his law. You can avoid being found guilty on judgment day if you turn to Jesus. Think of him as the ultimate lawyer, he never loses his case, if you have Jesus as your lawyer, you will be declared not guilty. Make sure you never stand before a judge without a lawyer, because you can't use your "I'm a good person card* as a way to bribe a judge.

I’d like to start by saying I’m Christian so you understand that my Bias would actually be in agreement with this video. My family is Syrian Orthodox. For those that don’t know, this is one of the four original churches (Ethiopian orthodox, Coptic, Armenian orthodox, and Syrian orthodox) and we grew up speaking Arabic. When we are caught by surprise or stump a toe or don’t get our way, we don’t say “JESUS!”. This is simply because the Arabic language is primarily influenced by Islam and that’s the language we speak every day. We say other things that are likely derived from the Quran and have no mention of Jesus. The same goes for the people of India in regards to hindi and hinduism. Southeast Asian people and Buddhism. Please don’t believe the internet just because it agrees with your world view. This woman is preaching something that has no basis in any fact. It may be true that many people do use Jesus’ name in vain, but it doesn’t mean absolutely that her interpretation of the reason behind it is true. God made all people in his image and likeness and a whole world exists out there , not just this tiny bubble where this woman lives which is most likely the pacific southwest region of the United States where everyone seems to be opinionated on everything. Be smart! Travel! Learn from others! Have an open mind and think for yourself with the brain and heart God gave you! And every time you get a negative thought that pushes a stereotype and pushes you away from God , have the mental fortitude to ask God for help and seek guidance for the truth. I hope this helps more people than it offends because this is the unbiased truth of a Christian Man. God bless.

Um, isn’t it literally just force of habit? They grow up hearing people around them using Jesus Christ as an exclamation of whatever emotion or feeling it may be, whether that’s shock, anger, or excitement. So it becomes a habit, learned vernacular and just another expression among many other English expressions. I don’t think there is anything special about it like many people in the comments are saying. Sure, it is a bit insensitive to any Christians who are constantly hearing non-Christians use it nonchalantly, but it isn’t said with any malice behind, nor with any intent or awareness of any significance it may hold to Christians, so I wouldn’t condemn people for saying it as if expecting them to be remorseful of something that they never actually intended nor were aware of, that being the use of the Lord’s name in vain.

Keep in mind that also whenever we are in extreme duress Luke a sudden fear for our safety or life will will shout Oh God! Even those who do not believe know the truth deep in our hearts and will cry out to God to save us.

In Nigeria, everyone calls Jesus at every little inconvenience or shock. If I just stomped my toe, guess who I'm calling? Jesus. If I see something scary in the middle of the night, who am I calling? Jesus. If I see something that makes me feel a certain way, who am I calling? Jesus. Is it a curse word? I'm not sure. The way I see it is we call Jesus out of a habit we've seen our elders do or others do, and they do it because even if you stomp your toe, you're acknowledging him being there to help you. Or something like that - if that makes sense. Is it right? No. But we're all used to it, and we've forgotten not to use the Lord's name in vain. You know...

If you think that's beautiful then I pity your life. The purpose of life is to get to know this fairy tale that doesn't exist so you can prepare for the afterlife that isn't coming. Because you wasted your life you're scared to die so you have to believe this. But I hate to break it to you after you die it's just like before you were born. Everything that makes you you is just a process outcome of the processes of your brain when your brain stops processing the thing that is you doesn't go anywhere it just ceases to exist like when you stop the processes that create fire the fire doesn't go anywhere

@moppppp8407 it was actually very logical to come to that conclusion. He said if Christ isn't Lord, then why do people use his name and only his name in such a profamed way? It's never Muhammad, Satan, Darwin, or any other "god" but only Christ. Why is the world set against someone they either don't accept or believe in. People only come to Christ when God draws them to him, and people can only get to the Father, through the SON. It was easy for him to come to that realization because God was already drawing him to the Son.

Only thing I would say is as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joseph Smith is not thought of as a God, but as a modern day prophet who helped reestablish Christ’s original Gospel in the earth after it was lost when the apostles died after Christ was crucified.

Catholics do not think that Pope Francis or any other pope or saint is a God. No one thinks that. Christ is Lord ✝️

I study Scripture & it's made crystal clear that only the Father, Son & Holy Spirit are Holy & Righteous enough to hold the formal title of "Holy". And absolutely no one else is to be referred to as having an equal Holy title. Also, no man who leads the church should be given the formal title of "Father" or referred to as such. None of the Catholic Church parishioners are referred to as Holy or given that title, and the Pope is also a mere human just the same as church attendees, yet you all exalt the Pope & put him high up on a pedestal & give him admiration as holiness above yourselves. The real problem is that you don't study your Bible & follow God's Word & Laws, but you blindly follow along with man's words & laws instead.

BUT not everyone who says “lord lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven. But those who do the will of the father.

Bro, it ain’t just atheists. Christians use his name in vain constantly. OMG has become a cutesy child friendly phrase. It’s beyond normalized to the extent that those who utter it aren’t even subconsciously attaching any metaphysicality to it when they say it. One could almost say it isn’t even insulting or in vain at this point since it’s usage is so divorced from the one it’s name belongs to.

It's like asking for help. It's the name you would call when you're in trouble.... So yeahs, its about intention, right...
