Have I done things that most people would consider wrong, sure but there is no justification to believe that my wrong goes beyond the harm it has done to the person or persons that I have wronged, there is no justification that supernatural action is necessary, required or even exists. The only thing you can demonstrate by stating that all have done wrong things, is that humans aren't perfect and we make mistakes, and sometimes we do things we shouldn't either out of fear or selfishness. It’s the opposite.. there are many things that happen around us and we just believe they exist and we can’t see those processes happening with our natural eyes. So when people talk about believing in God which we can’t see , many automatically resist the concept and why is that? It’s more about not wanting to believe in something that isn’t explained in the Natural and one can only find proof themselves by GOING to God themselves and the correct way as well.

At least as far as your every day Theist anyway, most have read little if anything. As a person who never grew up religious, and only understood later on in life that I was an atheist at all, I sometimes feel that from my perspective this question gets things in the wrong order. I'm admittedly biased, but it makes more sense to me for an atheist to ask a theist why they believe in God. My reasons for not believing in any of the God claims presented to me so far in life seems fairly obvious. Am I off here? Given that I'm essentially a free agent in the marketplace of religious ideas why should I take one faith's claims more or less seriously than another faith?

God is such an amazing myth. See Deuteronomy 32.18, where the Phallus (rock that begat thee) claims to be the creator. There is also the tale of Esau and Jacob wrestling while in the womb. Jacob held onto the heel (phallus) of Esau. This became Jacob wrestling with god. Could it be that Jacob stole the phallus of Esau? Remember where Jacob pours oil (semen) and wine (passion) on the upright stone (phallus)? The Hermes/Mercury stones were found throughout the ancient world.

Don't get me wrong, being secular doesn't solve everything! Growing up working class in England is already stifling enough with it's cultural mores and small mindedness. But for me personally having to tread on eggshells around other people's faith is a perennial pressure I can barely imagine, I only came to understand of other people's struggles through channels like this and reading about the subject.

A bit odd to call from Tokyo, where few people believe in any kind of monotheistic god, to ask this question. Maybe he just doesn’t get out that much.

Places like Iraq and Iran were much more secular 30 years ago than they are today. If they have problems, it's because they have embraced religion, not because the rest of the world is bad. Where societies reject religion, they tend to be happier and economically better off.

When FloBJ joins our live stream this Saturday, here's one of the questions that we will "debate". "True or false, evolution and abiogenesis and the big bang are different sciences. They don't all do the same things." That'll be interesting as it seems that FloBJ still things evolution and the Big Bang is supposed to explain the origin of life and thinks that abiogenesis and the big bang is supposed to explain the biology of organisms. Hopefully we don't have to spend too much time on science that should have been covered in middle school.

1:48 I notice most arguments for a god boil down to "I can't comprehend how things could exist without a god putting them there", and it's begging the question because they have to assume things couldn't "just" happen; most likely because they've just heard that their entire life and never questioned the premise itself. Sometimes when you're struggling to find or accept alternative answers to a problem, you have to question if the premises themselves are even sound in the first place. It's like asking "how could plucked chickens not be human, if humans are featherless bipeds?"; clearly more is going on there than just bipedalism and feathered-ness, and even if you accept the premise that humans are featherless bipeds, it still doesn't prove a space wizard plucked their feathers

Prayers to any kind of god is completely useless. So I would argue that god might as well not exist since there is no hope of interacting with this entity even if he is hidden somewhere.

Knowing how large and ancient and powerful the universe is, this being is unimaginably beyond my ability to understand it, and I am a meaninglessly insignificant speck among its creations. Why would I worship it? Why would it care what I did or thought or believed? It is beyond unthinkable, so why should I even try to think about it?

3:10 I think the universe is simply because space and time (entropy) are fundamental properties. In other words, it would be possible to be otherwise. The big bang might just be a local event happening in an infinite space.

I've found any time you are debating the truth of something and the other person says "but" after every point you make, they are not listening, and not willing to be proven incorrect.

I don’t know how the universe (or better yet, it’s building blocks) “got here”. It might’ve always been here, it might’ve come from somewhere we can’t reach, I don’t know. And neither do theists. Not a single one. If god wasn’t created and has just always been here, and they can conceptualize that “idk it just is”, why can’t the universe be the same? Having the wrong answer isn’t better than admitting you don’t have one. Greek mythology “accounts for everything” too, but we dismiss it, because there’s no evidence. It’s insane how every creation myth accounts for the things we see and yet, this one from a random tribe in the desert is the one people latched onto.

I could talk to a person about God all day until they say something stupid, like something from the bible.

Deuteronomy 32:18-20 You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you;.. you forgot the God who gave you birth.This rock is the phallus aka rock that begat thee. Phallus loves to take all the credit for creation and he is certainly jealous of the vagina. Jacob even wrestled with this god aka the heel (phallus) of Esau. The wrestling match began while they were in the womb of mommy.

Let's get back to your saturated ignorance. There is no such thing as new anatomy (evolution). FULL STOP. Uh, not one sliver of new anatomy has been observed within the human race EVER (I can say the same for animals & plants). And based on that fact, I can predict that all human offspring from this moment forward, will have the IDENTICAL ANATOMY of the entirety of their ancestry, all the way back to Adam & Eve. FURTHERMORE, we are not animals: Animals have no rules. Animals don’t make rules and animals don’t abide by rules. Humanity does have rules/regulations/laws. NO ANIMAL can even come close to doing all the things a human being can do. What animal can believe in something bigger than themselves? In humans vs animals, is there something IRREVOCABLY in the dog that’s a dog vs is there something that’s IRREVOCABLY human in the human? Yes. They could never be from the same limited source. No animal can grasp the idea of God. No animal can grasp the concept of the worship of God. NO ANIMAL can split the atom or build a space shuttle w/ 250k moving parts & walk on the moon. Only humans can get schizophrenia. We PURPOSELY cook w/ fire, while animals are scared of fire. Animals have no cognitive grasp of sending their daughter to college or producing technology & explaining it to paying students! Name an animal that can do ANY of these INTELLIGENTLY DYNAMIC things? THESE FACTS ONLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE TO PROVE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HUMANS AND ANIMALS. Humans clearly are not animals. I rest my irrefutable case.
