art is well an art the reason why mona lisa is popular is most likely not just cause it was realistic there like there were more realistic drawings at the time like there where some very realistic nature paintings if how real it looks was the only factor then a photo would be the hight of art which it isnt there are other more important factors such as personality, what message it conveys or emotions it expressess (there are more but i wont mention more) now it can go to far like alot modern abstract art where it is so warped and hard to understand what the message is or what its trying to actually show that it may aswell be nothing there is a fine line between subtle and nonsense if you cant clearly see the message then it may aswell not be there but there are some people that read way to into it and start making messages that arnt there like how people saw a face on mars but it was just a mountain with some fancy shadows that made it look as a face but people used it as proof of martians

I agree on the fact that judgement of art is kind of wrong, most of the time. Some historic art pieces are beautiful and some others are utter trash. We also have to understand the evolution of the techniques and materials used previously and that's why today we have such incredible realistic artists, comic artist, manga artists and more. I am an autodidact artist, I am not in the level to be a great artist, but I give my best and I improve every single day, but I have found people that are so called artist that are extremely famous painting trash, I mean, my paintings may take from many hours to days or weeks to complete and there's people that come and they even take video of their process and their "art" takes a few minutes to make, and is trash, and I have seen people fighting for their things paying thousands, tens of thousands..... It's like, how, why?
