I used to hate ARES prior to 2018, but I've had pretty good experiences with my 5 year old ARES SOC-AR, and 2 other EFCS V2 gearboxes. They run like the energizer bunny and are super snappy. Should probably go buy some lottery tickets with this luck.

I have the Soc Slr and have not had a single problem either. Absolutely love it. Stronger spring and new hop up, bucking and nub and it's a beast

I have an Ares L85A3 it’s been flawless so far, buuuutt after some comments and watching this, I’m now rocking in a corner hugging it, and reassuring it that “it’s ok…the man wasn’t talking about you”

And yes it was lol. Its really a shame that ARES makes so many cool guns, because you either have to replace the whole gearbox, or HPA the POS

Or buy an ares for the body with the expectation that the internals will die , but you're okay with that because you want to HPA it eventually anyway

I bought an Ares x EMG SR16 in 2019, before I knew what a risk it was, and while it is still alive, I fully expect it to die soon, and when it does I’m doing exactly this.

If you want comedic snarky gold, put an Ares in front of Negative, I need an oxygen tank to breathe watching this video. Also an unreplaceable EFCS is a deep rooted fear that keeps me up at night in airsoft guns

Why? Because they're probably the last fuckin company that still makes unique shit. And sure, theres an emphasis on "shit", but its not another M4. Plus as long as you know what you're doing, you can easily fix any blunders of theirs off the factory. Or upgrade it. Yes, even a cursed gearbox such as these can be messed around with.

Ares's sole redeeming feature as a company is that you can order spares (like their dogshit ETU's) directly from them via their customer service email, which I've done before for a blown Vz. 58 ETU funnily enough, its not particularly quick, but its better than a non functional gun (or waiting for some retailer to never restock them) the guns are still doggo proprietary tut though, and I don't know why people buy them

My and my friend's first aeg was an Ares Amoeba AM009. I consider it a good starter gun and we are still fielding both of them 4+ years later. I've opened mine all the way to the gearbox about 3 or 4 times even. Only change is the hop rubber and rewire to deans. I learned how aeg's work from it. I understand that old Ares are bad internally but from the 009 series forward they look pretty decent to me especially for stock guns of their era. I don't think they deserve the hate they get.

Out of all the Ares ive worked on i must say the g36 ebb from 2011 wasnt too bad lol thought i would never prefer a vfc to work on until you get a few Ares in a row

G36 EBB brand-new out of the box "2022", I had to Rebuild as its seals where Garbage. large variance and huge loss of fps

I bought a standard Ares M4 KM7, immediately shimmed it properly and it runs fantastic with 105 m/s 7,4 lipo. But hey, ARES is famous for making weird shit (PDR-C, all the weird bullpups etc) and proprietary parts for them. My PDR-C also runs like a champ after I "fixed" it for many hours and many disassemblies, but boy it was a nest of weird solutions to manouver. Don't buy ARES unless you know what the hell you're doing, basically.

I bought an ARES a bit ago knowing exactly what was inside. It had the same gearbox and I had to go in and remove material in a brand new gun

I got the Ares Striker AS-02 and it was fun for a minute. The entire bolt, cylinder, sears, all torn. And mine was stock. So now i have to sit and think if i want to get after market internals to make it useable. Or if i would rather get another fun GBB

You're better off getting something else. I have an AS-01 that I bought a simple spring upgrade for and it sent me down a rabbit-hole of other "upgrades" and replacement parts. With all the money I spent trying to get this thing to work proper I could of bought a cheap CYMA vsr10 and amazing parts for it. Sunk-cost fallacy is diabolical.

CO2 mags is one way, otherwise you won't be able to do too much since the cylinder volume is so bad, the only viable way is to HPA it, yes a friend owns one he spent ton of money to make it shoot around 550 fps but it is still not having the range .

@@ThickFutaMilk That sucks, for the short while I had it. It was fun to shoot and use. Very easy spring to pull back, good to get rapid shots off. But it literally crapped itself within a short bit of time. Ugh. Maybe I'll get another GBBR, I do enjoy those a lot.

@@akosrozgonyi2060 Yea, I wasn't ready for the issues ARES brought me. I watched and read as many reviews within reason. I ignored the major retail ones, like Evike or Redwolf. But a fair bit were saying easy, just needs like one or two upgrades. I wasn't expecting the sears to die faster than an OEM WE trigger unit. Or the whole cylinder walls being torn up and destroyed within like a weeks use.

Thanks for the warning. I was thinking about an Amoeba M4 AM CCP. Short with a 300 round magazine. Now I will look for another compact hi-cap gun.

Anyway you can do a review/breakdown on the Novritsch SSR63 A2?

Of all my airsoft guns I own, my first is my favorite, Ares 007 stubby. Love it

I've not even watched this yet, and I'm already laughing imagining the comments about Ares 😂

Got a Areas L85A3, only replaced all the Internals and now its the best Areas ever :D.. my main gripe is defo the Mofset/ETU but it works on 11v lipos fine. oh and battery location. Defiantly restricts you to very small capacity 11v lipos tho.

Do you think Getting a G&G GK5C is a bad idea for a second AEG (have a cyma AKS74U rn) I'm in love with it's look, but it has a few downsides: heavy as balls (4+ kilos) and proprietary hop unit (can be found as a replacement in case it breaks) and proprietary overly long nozzle. Gearbox is V2 and I'm planning on chucking an Aster into it and upgrading the bucking to a Begadi MAG5. I am intending on using 3S lipos with 30C but I've seen that you prefer to use 7.4s, any reason for that? other than dickheads with extreme ROF which wouldn't apply to me as here in Germany you can't have full auto anyways.

I have the L85A3 all I've done is change out barrel and hop rubbers (for one more than twice the length than the 200mm it came with) and changed spring to drop it back below 350 fps not yet had a problem, so fingers crossed.

Thank you for this I was looking at this gun cause I'm a fan of the aesthetics and of bullpups in general, but will now be avoiding it. Are there any good bullpups or not really? I'm just tired of seeing nothing but M4s and I like the guns that stand out

Steyr AUG with perun for AUG

Because it was 2015 and it was on sale... I wanted something small and honeybadger like for backup. Well after changing parts here and there (a lot of 😅) it's fun little cqb thing and reliable. It must be a world record that how many odd problems you could come across with Ares gun 😂

My favourite thing about Ares is that they make their screws out of kitchen foil so its nice and easy to strip a thread

I bought an ares honey badger as a newbie, as I loved the external look (sorry luke), not knowing about the internals at the time. That was probably the worst decision ive made in airsoft. I replaced it as soon as I could

Maybe Ares are shit but I really want to have one of their m4x cause the external looks amazing, but yeah they put a bunch of proprietary stuff in it and I would have to make sure it doesn’t just suddenly blows up

I own an ARES SOC AR that is HPA'd with Polarstar Jack and lemme tell you that it wasn't easy. It had such a horrible proprietary system that my friend had to mold a completely new gearbox just to fit an engine inside along with attaching levers with magnets to get the fire selector to work with it. He also had to reposition the wires because disassembly can cut them apart easily and the bolt plate was removed because it was unnecessary. It took 2 months of building and troubleshooting but he did it and honestly that's the only way I'll be able to use this without worrying about spare parts.

If you buy a current ares you want a wall gun. If you go back and find a older ares you want a useable gun. The only ares i may try are the scar variants because they got rid of wirings go thru the stock and when it breaks your screwed. But if its the same terrible internals i will return it because i knew what i might get. I miss the old DBoys scars they were so good.

Ares vz.58 is now under Delta armory so probably u will find etu under this brand, Iam running now on 3rd etu in my vz58, its common for this to break :D

If not ares then, can you point me towards someone who makes a good l85a3?

Not Ares related, but I couldn't be arsed to find a better way to ask. I like the look of the DE M916G and longer B versions, but their range is a piddly 40 metres. Everything else about each rifle seems decent though. What's the obvious fix? Bucking and barrel? or just not enough power to push a 0.20-0.25 that far? I'd personally want to use 0.28 as a compromise between flight trajectory and cost, since 0.32 seem to cost quite a bit more. I'm trying to avoid falling into the SSR4 shaped hole of shame, but it has decent range out the box. Suggestions ? ( those rifles represent the price range in looking at...bambi player with recent ukara and done with renting ) playing once a month only , large open woodland site that in parts looks like a quarry with open 80-100+ metres nothingness , and zero CQB.

Yeah mate, bucking and maybe a longer tightbore barrel should increse range and fps but you would might have to change cylinder related parts to get a good air seal and improve consistency on a longer barrel

@@mppewpew I've fallen down that SSR4 shaped hole, the full metal ones no less, and it's been bother since the first 10 minutes of it landing at my door. So many quality control issues! Still going to buy a DE, but now it's looking more likely to be the newest DE AX 15 Bluetooth one than the older model M4's.

Assuming it’s the Platinum version the micro switch most likely broke on it. If it beeps the mosfet itself works. I replaced the whole unit with a gate titan though I’d recommend a Perun V2

Meh, of course you can buy cyma you wouldn't ever have to open and repair but would it be unique, would it be adventurous to make it work well and would you be proud of yourself for achieving the adequate result? If it was someone else's gun or a gun I have to finish quick, of course, I'd hate it too

I've been considering a VSS or AS VAL, wont be doing any long range, just dont know which stock style I like more. Have you tried the Cyma AS VAL or VSS? Reliability and capacity for future upgrades is most important.

For the price they seam to be pretty decent the DE mws one that is. bespoke have them for £349 at the moment. Full steel trigger group out of the box, steel controls etc its compatible with a decent amount of mws parts if anything ever was to break obviously time will tell how well they hold up. they aint near the same quality as the Tm but they are a hell of a lot cheaper

I shit you not my lancer tactical just did the same thing. Fucking step gear hit the gearbox because of a lack of shimming that allowed axial play. Long story short, no shims plus bearings probably equals a shit time on a higher stress build. 💩

Ares and s&t are on myblist of shit not to buy. Not to say s&t is bad but similar problems to ares but you arent stuck with the shitty "efcs". Perun ab++ and you golden but you got to remember microswitches for anything other than a v2 gb isnt easy to replace. I really wish we had a tavor thatvisnt ak ares or s&t. If you bought an ares just hpa it because thats all you can do. You made a dumb decision thay os now costing you an extra $500 - $800 depending on weather or not you jave a hpa rig. I dont have one. At least untilmi decide to build a speedsoft hicapa out if a tm later down the line. For now i just jave an aw vx7 and a kjw hicapa which is meant to be a sidearm.
