I hate when people use animal metaphors and don't even understand the animal they're talking about. In the wild lions, don't raise other lion's cubs. They kill them off.

@@spooky99 As stated in my previous post, both the man and woman have a choice PRIOR to the conception of a child. Women might have the final say in whether or not a child is born, but both the man and woman have the final say in if a child is even created in the first place. I agree that majority of the responsibility of pregnancy is on a woman since she carries the child. But responsibility of preventing pregnancy and the pregnancy itself are not the same. Males will never take accountability for any of their actions so let's not even get into the last part of your statement.

Both dudes with the hair are fools. I would never listen to either one about anything in life. Dudes trying to sell you on playing stepdad won't be there if you get divorced and put on step-child support. Full transparency: I played step-dad and adopted my little girl but my situation is special. My ex never asked for child support, alimony, money of any kind or anything after we split. She asked if I wanted to stay in her life, and my daughter loved me like dad. She calls me dad, fears my disappointment, loves me, and my ex allows me full parental rights. My situation is special. It's not the normal at all. My ex sacrificed so her daughter would be happy because of pure love. I would do it all over again, but only this one time. I DO NOT ADVISE ANY MAN PLAY STEPDAD BECAUSE MOST WOMEN DO NOT SACRIFICE FOR THEIR KIDS LIKE THIS. I stand on what I said.

When I met my husband, I was 21 and he was 29. He was just getting out of a relationship with his ex who was a 32 year old single mother of two (by two different guys). She was messing around with one of her baby daddies, but my husband couldn't prove it, but my husband kissed another girl at a party and his ex pulled the "I can't forgive you" "I love you, but I'm not in love with you", "but we can still be friends " (he was planning B) When we started dating, she basically stalked him. She would show up places we were at in skimpy outfits and bragging about their sexual exploits. She would try and get my husband to leave with her (to prove he would choose her over me) and she would get mad when he didn't. When we became official and moved in together, she pulled the, "it's either me or her" ultimatum. My husband told her he chose me. When she demanded to know why. He said, "She's younger, doesn't have kids/baby daddies, and hasn't slept with half the city." 22 years later she's still single and miserable.😂 How do I know, she tried hitting my husband up on Facebook and got blocked.

I am BM raised by a step-father and I understand what Anton was saying (the bigger guy). People need to get out of their feelings and realize their situations are most times not the norms. Both my step-father and mother told me to not date single mothers. Specifically my step dad saying "don't do it" and my mom saying "one kid maybe more than that no". Men are already held accountable for habing children out of wedlock. One good example is child support and then going to jail if child support is not met. For women they get not jist chikd support but, government assistant. Women alwaysbhave a hand out and can get many chances for making mistakes. Men learn very early on that making mistakes have serious consequences.

@raymondben36466 You're right, but my question is what happens when the mom drops the baby off without telling the father, but the father wants custody? How does that work? How does the father/system track down the baby from a random drop-off if the mom doesn't tell the father? If the father is able to get custody after a drop-off, is he still able to take the mom to court for child support?

@demond1818 My second cousin and her brother (no relation to me) were a toddler and child when they were taken by CPS (which is kinda similar, all roads concerning children in peril lead to CPS), and what happened is they tried to find my first cousin, the father of the toddler, but after a period of time of not finding him, they became wards of the state. When he tried to get custody after this, they said that since they couldn't find him, he automatically lost his rights. My aunt had to get custody of both so he could still be active in her life and she wouldn't grow up without her brother. As far as child support, I don't know. My cousin never got his rights back to my knowledge.

Believing that it's everyone's job to save a woman from her bad choices is crazy. When you do that, they don't learn. Therefore, they won't stop making them. This is what we teach children. Which is why fatherless homes don't do well, because the mothers live like the children too.

Are they serious? You, as a single mother, don't get to change the father(s) of the child(ren) that you are raising. Now, if the next man decides to help you with said child(ren) (why?) that's his choice. The point is men shouldn't be thinking of single mothers as more than a fling unless they made a child(ren) with her. Why? Because unless he made the child(ren) with you, he's not responsible for the child(ren) you bring into the relationship. There's a reason why the elders tell us to marry before you carry. And any man shouldn't even be thinking of adopting a single mother's child(ren) anyway! It's against male nature!

This is very much the hot stove paradigm. You cannot tell someone what it feels like to be burnt, they have to experience it and some will experience it multiple times before they learn it is damaging. Single mothers are that way for a reason and any man who walks into that situation is at a disadvantage. Shrugs, men can make their own choices and yes, a lot of them will be utter destroyed by this but maybe they will learn.

    1. Lions don’t even take care of another lions cub. He gonna try to use that as a reference lol 2. Blended families are not the same as same parent home. It comes with unnecessary problems and different sets of rules. You in more cases feel like two families staying together. 3. Relationships are better off when it’s a men coming in with a kid verses the women. If he taking care of his child and coming in to take care of her he taking on 1 additional. Vice verse she coming in with a child then he now gained two instead of 1. Not to mention men are usually more relaxed about allowing a women to discipline his child, he look at it as making them tough. Women usually not so much because they look at it as abuse. I’m speaking from the experience of someone who was married, divorced, and now have a blended family. We both have 1 from our prior marriages, and we share 1 together. It’s like 2 different sets of rules in the house, my kids and then her kid. Idc what them brothas say, do not get with a single mother if you have options. I gave it a chance because we had history and though she is a good person, sometimes the juice is not worth the squeeze. If I didn’t have a son, then yes I might have reevaluated my life.

I do agree with everyone taking accountability for their actions. In most cases, these women know the type of man they are dealing with. A childless man has the right to say he doesn't want to date a single mother, in the same way a childless woman has the right to say she doesn't want to date a single father. I agree with what Anton is saying, but Rico had a point too. If the parent has one child and learned their lesson, the childless person can take their chance and prayerfully, it works out. A 2 parent household works when the relationship is healthy. You can have both DNA parents in the home, but if that relationship isn't healthy, the statistics can go the route of single mother household.

Something major is missing in this conversation. "The vast majority of divorces and break ups among married and unmarried couples with or without children are initiated by women". Therefore, women are breaking up their families far more often than men. Yet, the onus is almost always swinging back to the men as leaving their children. Well, if the women are leaving their men at a much higher rate than are men leaving them, then how can the one being left be responsible for the outcome? Most men are willing and want to stay with their children's mother but it's the woman choosing to leave, and they usually take the children with them in order to use them to demand child suppprt from the father, and when he doesn't pay or jump to the woman's drum beat, he gets labeled a 'deadbeat'. This is a very unfair and distorted perspective. If the woman chooses to leave or divorce her marriage and take full custody of the children, then she should also be held fully responsible for supporting those children, or leave them with the father.

Another thing is that as men we should not be having open discussions about how to be men with women. As men, we should be meeting and defining as a body of men or a community of men what we are, amd who we are. Getting a woman's input will only confuse us and weaken our disposition. Men sharpen men as steel sharpens steel. Women weaken men. Let's keep women out of our conversatiions on what black manhood needs to look like. That's exclusively for us to do among ourselves. Leave women out of that conversation, period.
