Yup. True story... Years ago I lived with my dad. I couldn’t afford a gym so I worked out outside to make the most of the fresh air. Mostly sprints and squats, push ups and pull ups on one of the trees in the townhouse complex. Some lady comes out of her house telling its against the law and I’ll hurt the tree. Trees fine (as long as it’s thick enough and you hang near the trunk) Another one drives by weeks later and asks me what I’m doing, I explain. “Well you can’t do that”. More weeks go by and the branch is gone. Initial middle aged white lady had the work crew chop it down. I asked my dad as I was fascinated by the entitled self righteousness of these middle aged suburban white women. Telling where to be, questioning how I walk my dog, and more. A decade later the Karen meme was born. It’s a thing. And finally they’re being called out on it.

The sad part of it all is that he was in more danger with Karen's chasing him than if she had simply just left him alone. She tried to clip his board with her foot at one point. Had she been successful she would have had assault charges on her. We're not going to even discuss how she almost put the older man with the cane in danger as well.

I remember years ago I came out of a blockbuster at night and a Karen followed me all the way to my car in a lonely dark parking lot, she was accusing me of stealing. I’m 6’-1” 240lbs and this little lady followed me with no regard to her safety, sheeeesh.

Honestly that's mostly what's it's about. Yes cities do discourage skateboarding in public space because it's not designed for that function and it takes away from others using the space....but it's not up to random citizens to do this sort of thing....this woman is crazy

Anyone can sue anyone for anything really in this country. Whether they win or not is another story. I’d say your friend shouldn’t sue. When you go to a skate park there’s an inherent risk there. Kind of have to accept that. This is all opinion. I’m sure not a lawyer. And some towns do have restrictions. I’ve had my board taken by cops and have been threatened fines.
