    Discovered your channel when researching FPS issues on Xbox One and quickly gave up on that in favor of starting back at episode 1 and watching all of your vids. Was super excited to see you’re still actively uploading! Great job, really enjoying not only the info but the way in which you present it. Subscribed and eagerly waiting your next upload!

    To add to this video, and for those who were wondering why sometimes the ball flies away from your wheels during redirects, imagine the ball is travelling onto a surface that has ever so slight upwards or downwards momentum, but has zero friction. The ball will change direction and the forward/backwards momentum of the surface's non-friction interference (yes this doesn't work in reality, but that's why you can't do this in reality) will add onto the ball's speed and direction. It only slows down when the angle of the ball hitting the wheels causes the suspension to touch the car, as shown in the video. In order to get those nutty redirects, become the floor that would guide the ball into the goal.

    dayum man, now I get it why sometimes I redirect the ball so perfectly with great speed but sometimes the ball just slows down!It will help me a lot to do better redirects, thanks for the info

    ViDeo suggestion!! HEY! Idk if you read many comments but if you see this it’s a video suggestion. Miscellaneous facts you would never know/you don’t need to know about Rocket League! Figure it wouldn’t take very much effort to make either as you’ve probably already found a lot XD Anyways love your content! Hope you’re doing well👌🏻

    Does holding powerslide have any effect on wheel hits? Also, does aerial rotation or dodging effect the suspension?

  • @RocketScience

    @RocketScience

    Interesting question! Because the wheels don't move the ball at all it can't have a direct effect. But it might make you "slip" more on the ball meaning your car could be in a different state (rotation/location/velocity) when the hitbox touches the ball. Which would cause a different hit. Haven't tested it yet though. Angular momentum or dodging does not have an effect on the resting location of the wheels. But when you hit an object with your front wheels during a front dodge then that will push in the suspension faster which once again can affect the resulting hit.

    Its a pain to get jump resets with the octane, rather do them with the dominus.. I actually started to main the dominus cause of the beautiful hits. Seems like I was right.

    No, BakkesMod only works in freeplay & exhibition matches. Online it's disabled because it could be seen as an advantage and that would make it cheating.

    I thought that the dominus was more stable than the octane. Is this why it's easier to wavedash with the octane than the dominus as well?

    Easier is always relative. I've seen comments on this same video of people saying "oh this is why it's easier on Octane" and "oh this is why it's easier on flat cars". The cars are all almost equally stable in terms of drifts and wavedashes because the friction forces get applied at center of mass height. They just recently did a talk on this www.gdcvault.com/play/1024972/It-IS-Rocket-Science-The

    You keep saying that cars within a preset are identical, but a staff member of Psyonix has stated that there can be minor differences between presets, such as the pivot point location (except for some minor cases like octane and octane zsr). Which is the truth? I am a bit confused. Link where Psyonix Corey mentions it: www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/74am36/new_fast_furious_dlc_drops_october_11/dnyfbwa/

  • @RocketScience

    I have indeed seen that comment myself. www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/74am36/new_fast_furious_dlc_drops_october_11/dp9bzed/?context=1 Didn't get any reply from him. I have done extensive testing (not on every single car but a lot of cars of the same preset as well as the marauder mentioned there) and for those cars there is no difference. What I'm talking about mainly is that I lined the car and the ball up in 0 gravity and checked from which distance I could touch the ball. It was always the same. Meaning pivot point -> front distance, pivot point-> back distance, pivot point -> roof distance. That is the practical testing I did but I can also read the offset from the game memory and it is always the same. There is just always a low chance that the value I'm reading is not actually getting used but that's what I did the testing for. My guess is that he just meant the visual pivot point is in a different spot. The scarab for example rotates around the middle but the Octane doesn't. That will cause a visual difference and most likely a different feeling. The ZSR was just modeled on top of the Octane so it has the exact same pivot point.

  • @RocketScience

    @RocketScience

    Actually he even said it himself now that I'm reading the comment you linked again "The preset specifies the hitbox, and the hitbox specifies its extents (X,Y,Z) and offset (X,Y,Z)." And "may feel slightly different (especially in the air) if their pivot points aren't identical relative to their wheel bones." Look at 3:12 . Octane pivot point is shifted toward the back wheels. Scarab has it's pivot point way further from the back wheels.

    So flip resets should be better on octane because the suspension has less chance of effecting the ball

  • @RocketScience

    Depends on the shot you're going for. I've seen a bunch of self-setup flip reset shots where someone first gets a solid touch with their underside which is harder to do with the Octane.

    @Rocket Science I Thought it came out recently that your wheels on the right side can touch then come off, THEN your left wheels can touch. After this you will have a jump reset. Saw this clip on Reddit of a double wave dash showing this mechanic. Is that what's happening in this clip? gfycat.com/FragrantBarrenBirdofparadise

  • @RocketScience

    @RocketScience

    6 жыл бұрын

    No, I already talked about it in that thread but almost no one seemed to see/care (the post I replied to showing this proof gfycat.com/EvergreenIncredibleFallowdeer got more upvotes than my reply even after I posted it). They have to be all 4 touching. There is a "is on ground" check in the game and that's only true if all 4 wheels are touching and it determines if you get your flip back or not. 2:59 has to be the explanation for why it might look like the wheels are never all on the ground at the same time. Either way that mechanic has some really tight timing. So all 4 wheels are only on the ground for a very short time. Then the right ones lift off because you can't flip when all are on the ground.
