I absolutely agree with you. Empaths are suffering greatly, trying to understand the lack of compassion and the destruction being caused by the narcissists in society. I'm not a religious person, per say, but, I find myself living the teachings of Jesus to help keep my sanity and protect my soul and spirit every day.

@@terrymiddleton6077 I’m in the same boat. I grew up adjacent to Christianity without ever formally taking its teachings on myself, though the ethical side has mostly stuck. I find myself wondering more and more these days - can I truly continue denying the logic behind Biblical prophecy, and the implications that stem from it? I’m increasingly skeptical of humanity’s ability to fairly and justly rule itself with any degree of competence.

Empaths are a breed of narcissist. Go follow HG Tudor- a psychopath/narc that tells on his own kind. Empaths are essentially a failed narcissist. We were raised by narcs or other empaths and so that codependency has been passed onto us. Sure we can feel empathy- to a point of total dysfunction. But all the other traits of the narc raise to the surface when we feel our needs aren’t being met. From common codependents to full blown borderlines- the empath is not a healthy person. Stop wearing it like a badge. It’s funny you guys haven’t stopped to wonder why there are ALSO so many empaths now. We are the children of the narcs. That’s why. We also want recognition for good deeds. We are the ones who post things to social media that make us look like martyrs. We will love you until we chase you away with our neediness, then when you abandon us and we eventually get over it, we will loathe you (that’s our narc wound surfacing). Welcome to the club. I’m an empath. A borderline.

I will further your statement with a concrete example : I am a veteran teacher. Over the course of 20 years I watched less and less be demanded of children to the last point of the standards based grading system which allowed students to pass in work late up until the last day of the trimester without consequence. We all know that’s not how real life works because if we pay bills late we get bad credit…it’s a free for all in some public schools and when I passed out a test and the kid pushes it back and says I’m not ready to take this now I’ll do it later and it’s okay ? It’s really not okay in reality !!! This is how it’s working folks.

Gen Z and Millennials are shown to have the highest education and highest work productivity compared to any other generation in history. Boomers have the highest rates of narcissism when looking at actual evidence, and grew up with tons of government privileges younger generations will never know, like social security. But we're the ones not accountable with no consequences? Okay lol All this, while you Boomers are waiting for your kids to take care of you in old age, because most of you irresponsibly handled your finances and can't accept the consequences? But we're the problem 🙄

I learned rhat you vant divorce them as adukts, but that you arent responsible for their financial mess.,etc. Especially when the ex +😮other parent bought them off while you sufferded unnecessary financial burdens etc from the ex not obeying the court orders. You cant divorce your chikdeen but legal says you dont owe them for their excessive and srlfishe spending ,etc Thankful for dogs abd cats thst are loving and give more caring love than children that belittled and blame you for their bad choices. This is one of the best psychiatry speeches ecer. My mom saw problems ,partly because she had been a psychiatric nurse.

As someone with a (religious) narcissistic mother- spoiling, participation trophies, lack of religion, social media are NOT the source of narcissism. Nature vs nurture is at play, but the nurture contribution is almost always due to early childhood trauma. Narcissists are not spoiled, vain brats. They're traumatized and void of empathy. It's far worse.

Man I really like your work, but dude the break down of the family and "taking God out of American life" mythology??? God isn't a safeguard against narcissism. Performance church-going (look at me I go to church constantly, look at me in the family pew, look at me voting against the teachings of Jesus, look at me quoting the OLD testament in an attempt to shame someone with less power, look at me applaud the minister who is preaching people should not be allowed dignity at church or in public, look at me perfunctorily praise God for my good fortune but not my opponent's), celebrity pastors, tyranny of legalistic church rules, blind access and trust in a church elder/deacon/youth pastor/etc, indeed religion is a playground of narcissism. If you require a fear of God to practice right from wrong, you are a narcissist at heart. If you have empathy and accountability, you will be safeguarded far far better. I think we could find agreement t that there is a breakdown in the family because parents are unsupported by bad public policies that do not protect the time, dignity, rest, and care for parent or child. You can not constantly reward exploitation in policy and dehumanize the individual citizen and think things arent going to fall apart. C.f. Religion isn't helping. God might be an ally but he can't just be the ally of one person or one church. Believing God ALWAYS wants what you want IS narcicissm.

Yes old style teaching worked far better than this new system! We had a really great headmistress when my first two children were very small but then the system changed, two schools merged to form an academy and a new style of teaching was brought in and there was less authority for the teachers, at least that was my experience of it since I used to be called into school to get my child from under the table or out of the cupboard because he couldn't be handled by a teacher ( I was breast feeding my newborn at the the time too). They looked at me gone out when I put him in the naughty corner at school because he was running me ragged whilst in school. Mrs O'Brien was old school and you just didn't push boundaries with her! My second born son was very much a boundary pusher and got off on sensationalism, my older son was very good he had 3 monitor jobs. Personally the teachers should of had the authority to get him out from under the table rather than having to call us in to do it for them. That would have never happened under Mrs O'Brien's watch! I think schools are also under alot of stress with governing bodies like Ofstead that it focuses more on the red tape and takes away from teaching!

@@prismonthethehorizon5793gree with you. Im an ex teacher . You are right. Also ofsted has ruined teaching, by creating mountains of paperwork . It ends up being less teaching and more admin work. Even report writing is all done by computers , not the teachers ... ( we just punched in numbers, almost like coding , most reports are copies, not personal at all, except for elder students ). ..making everything feel artificial and without feeling . Many senior teachers have left early, and now theres a shortage of teachers . Its no longer a desirable job. I left early thank god. Like you say we have no control, and too much red tape. I fear for pupils now...how much it damages them. Im old school too, i was lucky to start before the rise of internet changed everything for worst. Yes, they may learn more from it, but without proper discipline and order ..many students are losing their direction. Like Dr Clarke says ... narcisism is on a sharp rise and many people have a god complex. Its a danger to all mankind, earth, animals and wildlife. I cant bare to watch.

And what a terrible tragedy it is brought to my life and the relationship with the two most important people in my life and that's my two children. We have rekindled our relationship and I am so glad that I left her before she took everything from me and ruined my life. I didn't leave for a long time because I thought that she would change I thought that I could change her I thought that she would see what a good man I was but I found out the hard way that she was incapable of loving me I found out the hard way that in order for a narcissist to love they have to love themselves first and I guess that's impossible it's great to see a new face are you a new face to me in this ongoing disgusting issue with the life-changing and destroying narcissist thank you

She has isolated him in his old age and put horrible things in his head about his children from previous marriages. He believes everything she tells him. She’s a good manipulator. It’s been a heartbreaking & devastating experience to see how he treats us now. My relationship with him is over. He left his other kids out of his will and we weren’t even invited to his 70th birthday party. He also stopped acknowledging my birthday. When my younger sister died I had to plead with him just to see her one last time. His own daughter! This wicked woman (who he worships) has caused problems within the family and even between him and his brother. Of course, there’s wealth this woman is after for herself. She didn’t marry for love. Having other siblings (brothers/sisters) teaches people so many things, i.e. how to share with others (i.e., the attention of parents- material things - learning proper conversations and interactions with those of our age, and that the "universe does not revolve around us" - and it goes on and on. m

As someone that found out a few years ago that what I am is called a narcissist, that took this information and try to fight off my narcissistic tendencies, you got me dead wrong. It's not always mommy and daddy got money and spoiled baby. Very easy description which makes me question your credentials. Sometimes, for people like me, who grew up how I grew up, it's the opposite. Sometimes it boils down to severe punishments so you become slippery to avoid trouble. Sometimes it's about just feeling like people like you, even if you're aware that they only really like the puppet you made of yourself for them. I went almost 30 years having no idea that the way my brain works has a name and that it's a bad name. So I try to be "genuine" but even that feels fake. Like I'm playing along to some nonsensical rules that nobody made up yet everyone follows.

Almost every time I've caused someone emotional pain from my narcissism, I didn't even know I hurt them until after the fact when you tell me flat out that I hurt you (always emotional, I don't inflict physical pain onto my loved ones) so I also have to ruminate on the entire situation leading up to the point that you said my actions hurt you and I have to really really concentrate and sift through my thoughts at the time to try to figure out how and/or why I hurt you. Sometimes I see it quickly, sometimes it takes much longer, sometimes I still don't see it. I'm not sure what it is that causes the mental block but I'll tell you it's kinda annoying

No, God gave us free will and choice. Many of us made the 'choice' to turn our backs on him and his Word. Many of us discredited the TRUTH contained in the Bible. Instead 'hated' on TRUE Christians whilst talking about 'love'. Many of us rejected God's Word and guidance and said I want to do it my way according to my interpretation! These are false people (pretending to believe in God) obsessed with SELF = deluded narcissists. 2 CORINTHIANS 11:12-14 (v.12) “But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. (v.13) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. (v.14) And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And did you really appreciate that feeling? I suppose you beat your own children because you think you turned out alright? Well you didn't. A child is powerless and you approve of a grown, strong adult beating a small child like that? You think that won't affect them as an adult? You're a sick man. If an adult male "whaled the hell" out of another adult male, he'd be jailed for grievous bodily harm. So why is it ok in your mind to assault and deliver permanent injury to a small child? That's sick, man. You need therapy. And if you do beat your children, don't be surprised if they fail at school ,at work,at life. Because they have childhood trauma and parents who should be safe turn out to be the greatest threat. I'm glad I don't know you and that you're not in front of me. I was emotionally abused by both my parents and I was born in 1963. And my father raped me. And I wasn't believed. It was me being a liar. There are many good people who are good despite forced indoctrination. And man, how conceited is this post? What the hell makes you think it's only america? Grow up and open your eyes. And if you beat your kids into submission, I hope you rot in your hell.
