I love this build! I've tried it probably at least 1x for the past 4 leagues and I 100% agree with your conclusion. It's a VERY mid build that requires too much investment for the results. It's no longer a leaguestart build imo, when GGG removed the primordial jewels from the core drop pool, the prices haven't been the same. At this point in the league, it's not too bad, but when you need 7+ decently rolled harmonies + primordial might + anima stone, 6L pledge, etc., you're sitting at a 2nd build level of investment, with leaguestart level of output. Since this build has fallen out of favor, 1 thing that a lot of people miss or dont' know, is that flame golem's magma balls are like impending doom, where they have a CD (which is why harmony golems have increased CDR is important) and 3 charges. So, if they did more damage, it could be fun to balance their cast speed and cooldown, based upon spell echo and greater spell echo, etc. Thanks for reviewing this classic!

the build is great for afk blight, i made my first 100div with flamegolems this season just afk blight farming to then swap to ci stone golem you 100% dont need primordial might which also happens to be more expensive than 2 20% dmg 45% cdr harmony its a blight blaster not a bosser and for 4-15divs it worked amazingly for me

Love these videos conceipt, it helps understand how a build is good/bad and why An archetype i’ve been thinking about is cobra lash/assassin poison on hit base that i don’t think is played that much nowadays while this skill as so much going for it

Thank you for making this video. I used to play flame golem years ago but monsters are just to strong now. One way to make your damage a little bit better is to always convocate your golems away from the boss so they are always using their flame ball move.

remember playing instant leech molten strike and i was phasing self farmed shaper in tabula cause i was too cheap to buy a 6 link armor that gives something.

1m is still more than capable of beating pinnacles. If you think pinnacles have something like 80m hp, that's just 80 seconds of dps. In real terms you're looking at 3-4 minute fights. Not farmable, but by all means playable especially with decent defenses. I cleared some pinnacle fights this league on SSF SRS Guardian with like 800k dps. My defenses were fine so I could sacrifice some dps. People just get used to seeing 30m dps streamer builds and think that's the norm.

@@piszczello yea but back in the day those 1kk dps builds were like: 5k life capped elemental resistances fortify on movement skill. Vs even yours ssf srs guardian with decent uptime, beast recovery and maxed out natural block not to mention other things you can add there, it was a different game thou.

Staying with the minion theme, how about a look at Soulwrest or ranged-type spectres? Especially the latter, solar guards and in later leagues syndicate operatives were some of the most fun summoning there ever was in this game. I'm currently playing a guardian that uses Hyrri's Watch for clear, and it works very well, would love your opinion on that flavour of minion!

Awesome video man! Im wondering whether you can try out atziris rule? i been playing it for a few leagues and the dmg is kinda nice but because of it being a staff and having a delay its a bit clunky but visually the build feels awesome. Maybe you got any ideas on how to make it feel good?

One of my fav builds. They killed it on league start when they made the jewels not a common drop. And the cards are not super common for how many you need in the build. 2 curses also feels like a must now with most elemental type minions.

Righteous fire is super popular, but i think the specific sub-type of rf that scales rf itself rsther than fire trap or some other skill is one if the comfiest mappers that isnt often talked about. Im talking about +5 staff + carcass jack sorta builds. It's possible to get something like a level 40 righteous fire that covers 90% of the screen.

if you're looking for more builds to throw in the series, replica iron commander strength stacker is super solid and i built it really cheap this league even with strength stacking being pretty popular. 11 div for replica alberons, less if you're okay with lower %strength. 2-5~ div for 6-link iron fortress with a good roll, astramentis is basically BIS ammy worth peanuts, bow doesn't need to be six-linked so it's like 20c, can use the cyclopian coil for belt slot, and a few strength essences for the rings and you're easily killing every boss in the game. main thing that keeps people away probably is that you need quite a bit of defense investment if you want to survive ubers long enough for them to die.

Interesting. Thanks for showing this off. Have been playing 2 autobombers this league and HoT autobomber at 20-30 div was definitely faster and melted bosses relatively quickly, but was more of a glass-cannon I think. Always great to see similar playstyles but see the difference in speed, damage and defense.

The sad thing is, this buffed not all that long ago with changes to golems. But it really is just too much effort for next to no payout. Offmeta its still rough because the currency gain is really really slow. Absolutely do not recommend league starting this even if it appears to be cheap right now, early league the jewels will be fairly high, still only Chaos per jewel but with the absolute quantity you need, it adds up and does not scale well at all without them.

I would love to see anything with VD - i loved the spellslinger necro version back in the day so anything with slinger is preferred, but anything else will do too! One of my favorite skills I'd love to play again

You can still do VD but I wouldn't recommend doing with spellslinger the reservation + mana cost is not worth it for the added damage. I mean you could invest a ton of money into the build and still do it but it is just not worth it. Even doing it with a CWDT setup is better. But hey if you don't mind a 2 button playstyle VD or DD + Desecrate or Unearth is pretty great

I've been interested in the Mahuxotl's Machination/Doryani's Lightning Strike Champ. Probably a bit too expensive and similar to your recent Poison LS Guardian, but it's veeeeery interesting, a shining example of the kind of unique build concepts that only PoE allows. Being able to turn the -60% Cold/Lightning Resistance Blue Altars into a damage bonus with zero downside is pretty rad, plus it's a Champion build, so it's basically immortal.

Did something a lot like this in Kalandra league and unfortunately have to agree with a lot of the points. I really want golems to be awesome, but the state of the game makes that supremely difficult. Very comfortable for low effort low juice mapping, but the second you kick it up a notch the build stumbles.

I am a big fan of perforate but never got to make a working build so i maybe thats worth looking into?

Hey Substractem, I've been tinkering with the idea of just using the golems in essentially a RF helmet making them a 6l. (or chest). And add in flame based spectres (or put the spectres in the helmet). I remeber in the past flame golem used to scale good with +levels. So maybe a skin of the loyal. (flesh crafter is also a option). Spectre wise using flame sentinels or whatever. This is essentially 2 6 links. Covering the whole screen. Opening up the weapon slot and then a shield for defensive options. Do you think something like this would work?

I have always wanted to see someone make a build that successfully takes advantage of the Ambush skill gem (maybe paired with nightblade?).

What I took from this is that the top ascendancy has more percentage of players than the bottom 9 ascendancies, and the same amount as the number two and three ascendancies.

Love this build but it is the worst for delve even with the leash. Golems fall behind too much, don't do enough damage and you end up alone with the cart getting curb stomped.

Hello, nice video! Would love to see something on Storm Brand. I played it back in delirium (the last league i played) and now coming back i see it has fallen off a lot. I played a mana stacking indigon elementalist version. Playing an inquisitor this league. I like the feeling of it and the all roundedness, and have been wondering why its not so played anymore.

I always want to know about my common build: cwc cyclone sire using ball lightning. Your tech video on the timeless jewel upped my damage back into the range where I was able to take some bosses like pre-cwc nerf. I am wondering if there is a future/build where sire could be the staff of choice to get into bossing with cwc. I was assuming something with chaos damage. But nothing ever panned out when I tested.

I never tried cwc BL. In scourge I ran unleash BL with sire, swapping to one of the agnerods for bosses. I had good luck with that build

@@seifeir6951 It used to be fine for mapping and some bossing. However after the Maven was added, they nerfed CwC into the ground. It is almost like a walking simulator, so nice in that way. It is doing full screen damage all the time, which is good, and offscreens a lot. I figure a few more tech tricks and it may have potential to be my one stop shop.

Surprised no mention of what it does well, which is afk blight maps. I made it last league - for about 10d I could sit in a blight map with a couple towers around and have a chill time. Bought 200 blight maps, put the tv on, and made decent currency for the effort

I wonder if ignite flame golem can be a thing in this day and age of u scale golem lvl, replica dragon etc then you chain cast flame surge with the link

i will always remember my first shaper kill was flame golems with me lying on the floor dead while the golems kill shaper. good and fun times.

The thing that keeps me playing is the fact that there is always something new to try. I always keep one character for my Magic Find, but I do enjoy playing these niche builds. They almost never disappoint or...SUBTRACEM from the game. Yikes that was a bad attempt at a pun...lol

like 2 or 3 seasons ago i played this build farming blight maps and it was veeeeeeeeeery comfortable. highly recommended for blight maps (bottled faith mandatory lol)

hi, can u give poison carrion golem variant a try, as despair is quite op, thats the only variant worth playing currently IMO

Herald of Thunder - with crest of desire - that was fun and i think it would be nice to check it - a lot off buffs for it this legaue.

To be fair, I only use Fire Golems to bestow the Damage effect to myself and then Roid out the buff effect to high amounts. Thats how I used them last time when I did Endless Heist. They are more for supporting yourself than damage dealing. You would be better off with Carrion Golems with supporting Specters to apply IDTs or Charges

Maybe checkout Armabrand Inquisitor with Rathpit and Bloodmagic. People still play that and it seems pretty similar to the Firestorm inquisitor people have been playing.

Yeah, it used to be really powerful back in the days, but it's just so below average nowadays. Damage depends on type of golem's spells... The ranged one does the most dmg. The other ones do lower damage. So, in a boss fight, you convocate them away from the boss, to maximize damage. Even with that, damage is not all that impressive.

You can improve this build a lot. Add a hungry loop AG linked to elemental army, meat shield, min life and feeding frenzy with increased damage taken helmet, culling strike axe, elemental weakness gloves. Get 3-4 spectres with 2x pale seraphim, carnage, and arena master. Your dps will go up quite a lot with this.

Then you need to change the necklace since it forbides use of other minions. Than you need to invest in more minion resists since elancer golems are immune to elements you usually didint invest on it. And so and so

i play attribute stacking inquisitor with widow hail poised prism atm doing some cast on crit + insert any projectil spell and manaforged arow stuff. its cheap unless you want to do ice spear + additional proj tatoos ( iam to poor for that). i want to switch from widow hail to synth base with cold dmg / dex and 3 ele roll but still crafting the waepon ( for more dmg trough battle mage). Sockets for more stuff would like to use is a problem^^.

I ran this as a league starter one time. It has great clear imo, but it kinda feels like you wanna run it as a glass cannon, dont get hit kinda build. You save a ton of time because you can loot and kill at the same time. Did fine clearing 16s quickly. If you find damage is still an issue you can run the 6 abyssal socket chest. Also, are you running Conc effect? It should allow you to shotgun better on single target. My boss kill speed was much faster in the version I put together. You're also not running Ancestral guardian which would buff your damage quite a bit.

Don't awakened spell echo and spell echo count as the same gem so they don't stack?

the staff gives something unique called "greater spell echo" which is different

When I golems I usually just have a lot of Carrion Golems, 1 Stone, 1 Chaos for the buffs

Sadly you have to sacrifice so much for mediocre damage that golem builds just are feel bad builds when you get into end game. Minion nerfs killed my favorite build.

out of topic, but I have no clue why more people dont play trap builds on the golemancer archetype. Slavedriver is insane with lightning golem and it's significantly tankier and faster than sabo with much more dps potential. then again, sabo is one of the worst ascendancies for trap builds atm

I'd love for you to take a look at dancing dervish. Almost nobody plays it but it's actually a fantastic minion build and really cheap to start.

this is my favourite build because I prefer walking simulators (due to getting carpel tunnel etc) I just wish this build was a bit stronger :/

My favourite version is chaos golems with poison, it solves the single target problems and their sunder attack can offscreen.

I'm playing self chill forbidden rite right now. it's not MY build but it's been pretty alright so far, I have roughly 10 divines put into it.

I've spent alot of hours playing and theory crafting poison carrion golems as Occultist if you're interested in checking it out. I have a League Start, Mid and High investment POB. Bout as off meta as you can get lol.

With poison minions you couoldn't get anywhere closer to meta than that. Currently only playable versions of golems/srs/skellies are covenant+united in dream poison builds.

@@tabl3s Bruh. I'm playing Poison Carrions for 3 leagues straight now. Ever since Covenant rework and poison SRS getting mainstream. Check poeninja. 29 chars last league 30% occultist. 20 chars this league 30% occultist. And that's only top of the ladder. Imagine how many more people play it but quit before getting to resonable levels to show on the ladder. The problem with Occu is zero defences. Only redeeming factor is the explodes. Tried Occu this league, didn't like it. So swapped ascend back to Elementalist and stole Occu explodes via Forbidden jewels. Works like a charm.

@yakoobski I've seen the boards, people been playing if for a while. My respond wasn't intended as an absolute, of course people play it...more of i havent seen anyone put out a thoughtful guide on it but the fact not many people play it compared to its counterparts in the poison minion group means it is in fact, not meta. And ya compared to other builds its defenses are lacking but mines got 60k EHP. Not astounding but nothing to scoff at imo. I find carrions fun to play, I could go for something better overall but I love my carrion. If I need to give up something to have fun with a build I'm fine with that. Kinda like srs, I'll only play it with the unique helm.

It would have been good if it choose a specefic way of damage like either use spells via fire spray and fire ball drop or pure melee attack but doing both makees it soo random thus very hard tondamage scale . 🙄😤😮‍💨🤨

Primorial chain is a bite, you decrease your damage a lot, just calculate that! Same as usage mostly harmony only .

sometimes i would build knowing the skill isnt that great just so it feel like a new builds/experience

Is carrion golem bad?

I tried to make a poison cobra lash assassin... just couldn't get it to really work

Poison got nerfed this league and cobra lash is just bad lol Also I don't think Assassin is the play either, pretty sure pathfinder would be better (I could be wrong here though)

I mean if you want to play permanent minions and just watch a TV show on a second screen while playing this pretty much does OK right? I think this build does fall below the "Mendoza" line for normal play, but POE isn't full of people making perfectly efficient decisions. You can slap this on a atlas tree with blight and alva temples and cruise control your way to good returns while catching up on your favorite shows.

For AFK I think I would go stone golems but I'm not sure if it really works anymore, I used to have a near immortal stone golem necro tho was like 5,000 hp regen per sec with an army of slam spamming golems

Noone sane is using Primordial Chain like that since GGG added extra golem on the tree (3.8) and +lvl amulets (3.9). You could easily tripple your dmg instead of that mediocre 4%-13% more buff from chain. You actually lose damage by using it.

84% of people playing flame golems are using Primordial Chain right now. I'm just testing what most people are playing.

A lot of minions just really are not what they used to be and not really worth bothering with sadly. Lots of nerfs both directly and indirectly without a whole lot of love in return.

Something seems wrong in this build. I played fire golems in 3.20 on HC and have far more damage and EHP. Perhaps my version was not as much "walking simulator" as this, but still, difference in DPS is huge.

@@subtractem I used anathema ring for singletarget, big exposure WoC instead of shaper of storms, and additional damage aura blessing via vaal clarity (~90 uptime). Clearing was almost the same, but bossing - far more decent.

I've tried flame golems (from Ethan/TheGameR3port) and had nice offence for Blight (not sure about Ravaged, maybe with more currency?) but not that great defence.

Frost bomb aoe stacking elementalist was a fun build I played this league

I don’t have a particular skill in mind but an architype: eternity shroud.

Infernal blow cyclone! I used to run this with Facebreakers 24/7 until they nerfed Facebreakers down to 800% from 1k.

I tried to Push this to the max in Standard. Got a bow with +1synth, +1 socketed gems, +2 ro Support gems and +8% quality to socketed gems. With a helmet +2 to all Minion Skill gems and lvl 21/23 anomalous Golems and an empwer lvl4 my Golems are lvl 32 and with a Lot of primordial eminence and primordial Chain i get about 2000 Life regen, 74% phys reduction and a Lot of Cast, Attack Speed and crit

it requires a brass dome and max block to feel more tanky. Also a flesh offering skill gives alot more damage to the build. i've killed my first feared with this build. the big downside now is that we don't have access anymore to the determination reservation mastery. everything off meta can feel mid with only 10 divs investment..

i explain in this video why brass dome is actually the wrong choice, you can upgrade the defense even more with a lightning coil and some tattoos.

Man I still play ice crash str stack inquis every league. Love it to death. Usually deals about 3-12 Mil, nothing crazy. But it's a beefy boy.

Honestly the bossing isnt gonna get any better. I think that build is more meant for speedish run clears. I think with an animate guardian with grave binds inpulsa the build would feel a lot better for walking simulator. Then left click convocation will feel better.

Sad, i used to love golemancer, specially scaling the buffs they provide. Hope it gets buffed soon

Always wanted to play a minion build but I can't trust NPC lol. Trying to fresh start with it and minon are so SLOW. I expect them to go and just hit the monster already, but they wait for me to go close enough to get aggro.

I really miss my golem builds :(

I really enjoy the Carrion Golem Auramancer in Heist League. This was fun but now.... i tested near the same build this league with arround 400 div investment. Its a waste of time....

use storm blast mines if you want to pump damage

I farmed half a mirror worth of stuff with worb this league. Charge stacking with Elegant Hubris notables and Supreme Ostentation is absurd cheap damage.

A mageblood can fix de defenses. But with 360 divines you can build better minions, probably

I wish they buff this and solar guards, they are the minions that lured me into playing poe

I technicaly have 5l stone gollems but my main skill is Deathwish so its not realy gollem build - i bet there is alot of ppl like that wich cuts on how many ppl play acual golems Ice golems with replica cold iron points is fun

Builds like this low key make me sad because they are interesting and different but not really good enough to truly go anywhere. I mean sure it can do a t16 (white map? not even rare?) but in bigger picture once start getting to maps every league its not a very high bar IMO. Makes me wonder if we will still any meta shake ups in PoE1 or if that is what PoE2 will be there for?

Would've been cool to see Lightning Golem at the same time. I like its spell better.

Now that PoE2 is a separate game, I pray that GGG starts reversing their malicious nerfing of permanent minions. It's less about the damage being bad, but the survivability of you and your building is so pathetic.

Primordial chain is a mistake imho, Dragonfang’s is more damage.

Waaay more dmg. Especialy when you add spectres, guardian, skitters, proxy, etc. Could easily quadruple damage just by removing chain and doing a proper build with support minions.

I think most people on the ladder are playing with primordial chain bc it makes it easier to devote one or two slots to defensive golems (stone golem, chaos golem) but imho those aren't really worth it anymore. Before the nerfs to golem stacking it was already just kinda worth it, now I think it's just a downright terrible idea. Better off investing in reservation efficiency and running more defensive auras.

Personally, i dont like the new style of the typical "clickbait" title and thumbnails. Thats the reason why i haven't watched most of the latest videos. Just wanted to give a bit of feedback as I loved to watch you because your content felt different than most of youtube.

Super mid is more than what 99% of players ever do. Its like your “certainly under 10 DIV” builds that are actually 100+ minimum!
