There is some talk Russia is planing to create a new gold backed currency...Possibly it would be related to the Altyn currency that is being planned as a united currency for the Eurasian Union(its planned to be implemented around 2020-2025)...I wonder how good a gold backed currency could work in the modern world?

Altyn? Doesn't that mean "Gold" in, like, all Turkic languages? Neat thing. Russia and other countries will change to gold because they no longer trust the US currency. They might be prepared for the worst-case scenario which would be the collapse of the US economy. I estimate this grand collapse will happen 1-4 decades later.

I think the fiat currency is something in-between crypto currency and gold standard. There are always downsides with all types of currencies. The crypto currency will literally be useless when we no longer have the energy required to do transactions or when there are power outages. And that isn't backed by anything either, like the fiat money. Also, you never know how many things the others on the other end know about you. In case of a security emergency, you might become an undesirable person in your country and you won't be able to use that currency at all.

The answer to the title, cause currency is a game, every one has to play onto the idea that it has value, and the ones that have more power, have more value, usually, but it has no intrinsic value, in the USA, a $100 is worth intrinsically 12 cents, while if you hold it in cents, it would be worth almost $200 in value of the coin metal And also..... inflation occurs in all fiat currencies, apparent the US dollar looses half it's purchase power every 20-30 years now, which is horrific if you are trying to save for retirement. I'd say invest in something that would in the future, when you sell it, would give you an amount that would keep around the same purchasing power as when you bought it, ie. A house, maybe a good company

Or does the economy of the country has something to do with it ? Let's say for example like a U.S. Dollars are worth 49.04 Philippine pesos as of the momment, but few months ago, 1 U.S. dollar cost 53 Philippine pesos. What determines this change and should I be happy or sad when 1 U.S. dollar is equal to more than 53 pesos or in other words should I be happy or sad if the cost increases??

You have missed the consumer outcomes of currency value differences in your video. I am in Australia. If I buy onlne software subscriptions from say, Adobe, then I lose approx 30% of my money's value off the bat, 35% if you count Paypal or a bank taking their hit. Because the AUD to the USD has such a rate. So my buying strategies change. I look at more free or opensource software. I avoid subscription software. For instance software like FL Studio for making music is a one time payment with lifetime free updates; that makes sense when my AUD is so pathetic against the USD.

So why don't they just take the 1000 yen note and make it 1 yen or whatever and say it's value hasn't changed its equal to 1000 yen. which make me confused because why would the print larger units on notes in the first place.

@@christophermelville7654 ok so let's say you live in Japan and Bread is 1000 yen it's always been around a thousand and Japanese people equate bread with 1000 yen. What is the point of changing the currency as to make bread 10 yen? Nobody in Japan wants that, it doesn't matter how you denote your currency it's all the same. Like what if the EU just decided "Hey every euro currency is getting multiplied by a factor of 10" you would be like why though because there is litterally no reason to.

I don't know if the Japanese have or had a denomination less than a Yen. But a reason why they may have larger denominations for relatively low priced goods is so that for the most part they do not need a denomination less than a whole Yen. So instead of having dollars and cents, you have only Yens.

Vary nice understanding about how different Human Resource worker's in different cultures made a understanding where currency works in time and different jobs. That's amazing. I am thankful that United States of America had made a understanding with food stamps to help out with food. A Universal currency interesting, World Money can happen with a understanding. With the help from Human Resource worker's we can find the right amount each month for a fast making food's like some good ones can be a fish sandwich or a egg sandwich, and water. A small meal a day. No matter how many different culture's in the world food is good it helps us live together. Currency is a art on paper or coins, this is why old art is expensive and new art. Even old currency and misprinted currency is expensive. World Money can have a look with all the countries holographic front and back with Sun in the front and Moon in the back. Word's on it. In God We Trust . Front and back only words on it. God made food for all Humans. It does not have to be in English, different Cultures has different languages God made Unique was we talk to each other to understand God is there. That's okay we have Human Resource worker's all over the world, It is how we work together in many different job's. By having this World Currency we can end hunger and work together stronger. Why a small meal? Cattle animals take time its not fast. Like different fishes that reproduce fast, and eggs are vary fast. Wheat can be grown all over the world. That can lead to more Job's so we can work together.
