Why Are Chinese EV Companies Struggling to Sell Electric Vehicles

Why Are Chinese EV Companies Struggling to Sell Electric Vehicles
Chinese EV companies are in panic mode: their plans for a sustainable electric future have crumbled, leaving them unable to penetrate western markets. They’re facing a bloody survival battle. One so tough that at the end, only very few EV companies might remain. But what has led to this collapse, and could it spell the end for China's automotive industry? Let’s find out.
Let’s begin by looking at the shocking reasons Chinese companies are struggling. One of the main reasons is the Global Market Pessimism. As the global economy booms, it seems like everyone's revving up their engines for gasoline cars instead of hopping on the electric bandwagon. China, aiming for world domination in tech, had its eyes set on the automotive industry. It's like they're in a race, but they're starting from the back of the pack. While electric cars promise a greener tomorrow, right now, not as many people are buying them as expected.

...and your audience is brainwashed into thinking this is a possibility without an infrastructure, support or even decent power plants which we don't have🤦🏿‍♂️

EVs would be a practical consideration if they were 60% cheaper, charged 90% faster, depreciated 70% less quickly, went 300% further, spontaneously combusted 100% less often, and cost 70% less to insure, repair, and service than they currently do. However, the biggest problem with EVs is none of the above. The biggest problem is not enough generating capacity or cabling infrastructure. This is a serious problem in the Western World as there is an ever-increasing demand for electricity even without EVs. In the rest of the World, the situation is even more hopeless as most of these countries are already blacked out half the time and most homes have just enough supply to keep the lights on and run a small electric kettle. A charging station of 70 fast chargers uses as much power as a town of 20,000 inhabitants. 70 is the number of fast charging stations required to service as many cars as a medium-sized gas station. If they charged twice as quickly this would reduce the number from 70 to 35 but the power required would stay the same. It is estimated that if all the cars currently on the road were EVs the world would require 3 times as much electricity-generating capacity and cabling infrastructure as it has today. Worse as this would take 20 years to build and cost several $ trillions even if the world started building it yesterday, in 20 years it would need to be 4 times greater.

And what happens after an EMP event? The electrical grid would be toast and where will we be then? China has a quality control problem. Xiomi SU7 was just rolled out and already there's car fires, brake failures, electronics not working. I wouldn't buy one.

@@EpicTechDrive In Germany, every car has to be thoroughly inspected every 2 years by the Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV), otherwise it will be taken off the road. Everything that comes from Chinese state production is Chinese scrap. Didn't BYD buses recently catch fire in London? They objectively are not junk. Unlike German car makers the Chinese worked hard on innovation in order to catch up while German car makers still profit from having been top tier in the 1980s.

Public transit will exist in abundance only if there is true widespread demand for it from the people. Lack of consistent ridership is the reason many public transit systems struggle financially and rely on government subsidies to stay afloat. If people genuinely want robust public transportation, they need to use it in sufficient numbers to make it self-sustaining without the need for artificial funding through taxation or money printing by the government. The existence of ample public transit is a reflection of the collective choices of individuals actively utilizing it. No amount of rhetoric about needing public transit matters if people don't actually ride it enough to generate the revenue required to maintain operations.

The early adopter EV novelty is over. Those that can charge at home will be ok, others have problems with the insufficient electrical infrastructure/grid. If greenhouse gases is the issue, it would have been much better if effort was concentrated on cleaner electrical utilities which according to the EPA, contributes much more greenhouse gases than transportation. By the math, EVs are the wrong solution to the greenhouse gas problem. It is not the best tool to address the problem.
