Thanks! My newborn added to the background music towards the end. Haha. The lacquer I'm using is Stiga Surface Lacquer.

Hi Sam, thanks for the question. For the handle, I wouldn't recommend it. Because it changes the feel of the grip which is quite uncomfortable for me. But there are some players who seal the handle too. Maybe because of sweaty palm. So I guess it's really up to the individual.

This is great information but where can I find the sealant you’re using? I could not find it on Amazon, Paddle Palace or even on the Stiga website. Who sells it?

Great video! I'm glad you actually demonstrated the process for us to see. That made it easier to understand. But, if I'll only plan on changing the rubber maybe once every 1.5~2 years, would you still recommend sealing it? How long does the seal last? (how often do I have to reseal the blade?) Thanks in advance!

Hi. Thanks for your question. Sealing effect is permanent unless you sand the sealed surface away. It depends on what blade you are using. Generally, I'd recommend sealing DHS blade that has limba wood surface and stiga blades. Butterfly and xiom usually still okay without sealing.

@prajwalhn311 thanks for your question. As the surface for Tibhar Stratus Power wood is limba, I would recommend you to seal it if you can see wood splinters coming off after removing rubber. I do not own any Tibhar blades, so I can't be absolutely sure of the workmanship and quality Tibhar has for blades.

Hi. To ensure the rubber sticks well to the blade, you can try letting the glue dry thoroughly before pasting the rubber to the blade. That works for me. And if you wish to remove lacquer, you will need to use fine sandpaper to sand off the lacquer.

Do you seal every single one of your blades? Which varnish would you recommend for sealing long V blade? Thanks in advance

Hi, I didn't seal all my blade and one of it suffered from splintering. So moving forward I would seal all my blades to be safe. The brand of varnish is not that crucial. However, I strongly recommend getting a varnish meant for table tennis blade. Personally, I feel that the Stiga Surface Lacquer is quite good and easy to apply. I had since also used it on my Long V W968.

Hi! Does sealing prevent/stops the blade from obtaining sweat stains?

Hi Marc, thanks for the question. Yes , it does. Some people do that. The feeling will be like wrapping a layer plastic over the handle.

Does sealing your blade prevent it from staining of sweats, does it also help if you accidentally spilled water on top of it?

Hi Yiom Hand, thanks for the question. It does prevent staining of sweat and reduce the damage of water spillage. However, if you seal the handle, the grip will feel very different as you are creating a layer of lacquer over it. I think it will be uncomfortable for most people.

Is revolution no. 3 laquer good? And when done one layer of laquer do i need to apply again after sometime or is it permanent?

Hi Jack, I have not tried revolution no.3 before so I can't advise on that. So far from my experience, one layer of lacquer is sufficient to last a really long time.

Yes, I guess most of Euro made blades is already sealed with protective coating, especially Stiga👍🏼

never trust stiga.. stiga blade is well-known for wood splintering, players in China even call stiga as 拉丝卡.. while butterfly blade is fine without sealing....
