As a former pro, I can tell you starting off kids with bat on their shoulder is great first step. Like he says, gets bat on plane with body tilt.

Yep, I learned too late by accident about the "bat on the shoulder" technique. I realized after I had stopped playing organized ball that I had hit the best when I was doing drills that required starting with the bat on shoulder. Can't fill a young player's head with mechanical mumbo jumbo. Keep it simple and drill. So much hitting instruction is way too complicated. Trying to hit a baseball is no time to be thinking about anything. If you start a swing well, you'll probably end it well.

That's the one thing I hate about coaching! When you look at a kid and tell them exactly what to do, and they completely ignore you. Or won't even look at you.

Okay, I understand the first move of snapping wrist to hit catcher on head and moving hips at same time, what my son and I are struggling with understanding is how to adjust to high inside fast ball or low outside pitch etc..using this concept of swinging, we believe this can certainly hit nukes with a pitch down the middle but we are still learning proper mechanics and just looking for a better/dumbed down explanation of adjusting to anything not down the middle....any one that believes in and is having success with what Teacherman is teaching..can you help describe how to adjust to those more challenging pitches in a different way as we are very intrigued and want to give this a go

When you pivot the hands, aim the barrel using the end of the grip. The grip should line up with where the ball will be.

If its high inside, your rear arm should stay in same position at contact as pre swing. Basically you wont extend your arms. Low outside would then have some extension in your back arm at contact and you would have more dip in your torso. He has a video about how he believes to attack these pitches

You don't adjust your swing to inside and outside pitches. The difference between inside and outside is timing. For outside pitch you need to swing later, let the ball travel deeper into the zone and you will naturally hit it to the opposite field for inside pitch you swing earlier and the ball will naturally be pulled. For high and low pitches you start with your hands up ideally so you should not need to adjust your hands. Low pitches means your hand should go lower and gravity will help you get to the ball.

You say neck slot but many do this with bat off the back of the shoulder. Any thoughts on why off the shoulder wouldn’t be as good as from the neck slot?

I like launch plane as a concept better than “getting on plane”. Launch plane implies you are always on plane with the pitch, rather than starting somewhere else and getting there in the middle of the swing.
