If you have to haul water bottles, freeze some of them first. You can use them as "cooler ice" that turns into drink as it melts. Eliminates melted ice that you can't do anything with.

Hey Rhonda thank you so much for tuning in and for the kind words! All of the states you listed are so special. Wyoming and Utah are some of my favorites as well. Yup basically just watch flow rates and then plan to go. That’s hard because the rain comes sporadically. There are some rivers in the hill country that maintain better average flows but they also aren’t as special. If flows are low you could stay at a campground and just do day trips to keep boat weight down.

Another great video GW. I can't wait to see more about your free diving project. As far as bike camping, it's a drive, but you should really look at the trails around Terlingua TX. Talk to the good folks at Desert Sports Outfitters. www.desertsportstx.com/ There are miles and miles of epic MTB trails out there that I've ridden for years. The old Lajitas MTB race course out there is a must do. Hit my up if you want more details.

Thanks! Fun fact I’ve actually done the terlingua endurance race way back in the day. Those were some beautiful trails and I could definitely see us doing something out that way. 10 hours is a long drive though!

@@GatewoodBrown No doubt! Yep, I've raced that race on and off since 2000. Those were the glory days of Texas mountain bike racing. Chances are we were there at the same time :)

That’s really cool to hear! I didn’t realize those were the glory days. I wonder what happened to turnout. It feels like MTB is more popular than ever now.

@@GatewoodBrown It's had a resurgence, in some part thanks to the gravel bike scene taking off. But back in the early 2000's Texas MTB racing was huge. We would have pros, real pros like Ned Overend and John Tomac show up at the Lajitas Mas O Menos race. Then adventure racing, Muddy Buddy, and Spartan racing kinda killed it. ALong with a renewed popularity in road cycling.

Hey Gatewood, really enjoyed this. I throughly enjoyed listening to two, well educated, well spoken, young men telling stories. There is so much on KZread not worth my time. The was very enjoyable. This reminds me of younger days, hanging with friends camping, hanging around campfire sharing stories. Great Job. Keep them coming.
